Creole / Cajun / Southern
Tujague's is the second oldest restaurant in New Orleans. This French Quarter institution has been serving traditional New Orleans cuisine to locals and visitors alike for more than 160 years.

Lore states that brunch originated here, as did the Grasshopper cocktail. Homages to the restaurant's long and colorful history abound within the interior of the building from the classic 19th century architecture to memorabilia on the walls.

Menu items such as the seared gulf fish and the daily gumbo meld French traditions with New Orleans fare and flare. Our famous five course menu is still served nightly; but have no fear, the menu is no longer pre-fixe, so those less ravenous diners can join in too.

If you want a quintessential New Orleans experience filled with history and local fare, Tujague's is your place.

I ordered the redfish. It was very dark and chewy which I though was strange. Other than that everything was amazing. Host was phenomenal!

Apps and desserts were excellent as were half of the entrees. The fish entree was supposed to be red snapper with a panzanella salad. The fish was probably sheepshead. The panzanella was arugula with 1 cherry tomato and 2 croutons. Server was very reluctant to check with kitchen about a very common ingredient despite being asked at least twice due to allergy issue. Chairs were inexpensive and uncomfortable. Overall an average night which is disappointing for Nrw Orleans

This amazing dining experience started with the greeting at the door. We were treated like we were valued but that was only the beginning. The food and service then had a competition to see which could be best. We had a great time, exceptional!

Amazing historical restaurant in the French Quarter, one of the most authentic French Creole restaurants in New Orleans. We were on the first floor though the place had three floors full of dining space. The seafood dishes were amazing, also this is the place that invented the Grasshopper drink so definitely try one! The grouper was cooked and seasoned perfectly.

We were really excited to try this restaurant because of the great reviews, but we were disappointed. We went there for the coolinary experience. Even though we had a reservation, we waited an hour to be served (we did receive a warning from the manager). The gumbo was good, as was the dessert. The surf and turf really fell short. The steak was grainy and chewy. I unfortunately could not finish it. The shrimp also did not look good, and did not taste good either. It tasted old and overcooked. Both my friend and I went home feeling quite sick. Other than this, the venue is nice, and the service was great.

Dinner was delicious. Portion sizes were just right but we didn’t have a huge appetite. Drinks, appetizers and dinner came fast. We felt a bit rushed out of the door and there were several open tables available. Not that we wanted to sit there all evening bur we were in and out in less than an hour.

My mom and I had a quick trip to NOLA and it was our first time back since the pandemic and therefore our first time to Tujagues since the new location has opened. Although we of curse Miss the old historical busking of the original location, we were pleasantly surprised and amazed at how well done the renovations on the new location were. It had a beautiful ambiance and felt very much like the “old” tujagues. The food was phenomenal. We have eaten here many times and for many years so we are already fans, but it seemed even better. The shrimp remoulade on the fried green tomato, the shrimp n grits, the bread pudding. Incredible. The staff were all so warm and friendly, so personable. We loved chatting with our waitress Lindsey and there was another man who was so kind but unfortunately we didn’t get his name. It was a beautiful meal.

Underwhelming experience, which was sad, because we were very excited to try this restaurant. Waitress was unpleasant and teetered on rude. Had to ask for bread which every restaurant we have been to here has brought to the table right away, and again, she seemed annoyed when we asked for it. Salad had far too much dressing. Filet was good, but the sides were underwhelming and simply not worth $42. Kitchen was backed up so the dessert took awhile to come out. Best part of the experience were the mushroom crepes. If I could do it over again, I would have gone somewhere else. Definitely was an expensive bummer of an experience.

I was traveling on my own on my way home from a family gathering. I made a reservation for 6:30 on Open Table. I was greeted nicely at the entrance and the waitress brought beverages right away at a small table with a cushioned bench on one side. My whole dinner was excellent, but I especially liked the chicken and sausage gumbo appetizer. The meat was very tender, the rough was thick, and the flavor was delicious without being overwhelming.

The service is terrible. We were waiting forever to order even though we were clear about knowing what we all wanted already. It would take forever to get his attention at all. We went for two birthdays and the table next to us actually got it recognized while he was like “wow that’s nice, a birthday”. The idea of restaurant week was better than it tasted. If I’m paying that much for a steak, I expect it to be cooked how I like it, also the Yukon potatoes were a hard pass. I’m from Texas so of course my expectations were high and they just weren’t met! I will say though, no complaints on the dessert and sweet potato mash!
