Trattoria Nonna Fortunata – Roman Cuisine since 1900

In the heart of Rome, just steps away from alleys steeped in history and the aroma of freshly baked bread, stands Trattoria Nonna Fortunata, a little gem of tradition and authenticity. Founded in 1900 by Fortunata De Angelis, a strong, passionate woman and a superb cook, this trattoria is much more than just a restaurant: it's a timeless corner where Roman cuisine comes to life every day, with the same care and dedication passed down through generations.

The Cuisine: A Tribute to Roman Tradition

The house specialty is Roman cuisine, the authentic kind, made with simple ingredients and bold flavours. The menu is a journey through the most iconic dishes of Lazio tradition, prepared strictly with fresh, DOP-certified products selected from small local producers. But the true queen of the kitchen is the homemade pasta, rolled out by hand every morning in the trattoria's kitchen, just as Grandma Fortunata did over a hundred years ago

Being from the USA, and having tickets to the opera at 8 PM, this restaurant was a great find, not only for the food, but location relatively close to Opera House and opening hour of 6 PM. All members of our party were pleased with the selections available. I had to Cacio e Pepe, which was very tasty and prepared exactly as expected.

Esperienza davvero pessima.

This was fine. Nothing to get excited about. Not worth the walk. A lot of tourists, so felt like a “trap”. If you have limited time, I’d say pass.
