Toloache - Upper East Side
The food was delicious, the guacamole was super fresh and creamy, I had the Tumbada which was wonderful and would highly recommend and my boyfriend had the Rib Eye Steak which he loved. The restaurant is very loud but this time being that it was a beautiful night, we sat outside, it was the perfect night to be outdoors. And the Margarita's are really good! The restaurant is a little pricey but the food is absolutely delicious and consistent, and I've never been disappointed...
Food and drinks were great. Service was a little slow but that's not necessarily a bad thing unless you have to make show. We got there at 5pm thinking we certainly be out by 6:40. Unfortunately we missed having some great looking deserts because we had to leave. Regardless, we will return again when we don't have any restriction on time.
Usually completely seamless and polished, lasts nights service was slow and riddled with errors, resulting in a Sunday night family dinner with the in-laws talking two full hours with my children barely making it through without causing an embarrassing scene.
The server forgot to put in our order, wasn’t truthful about it, messed up one meal, and screwed up delivering both the dessert ordered and the specialty one we brought for my FIL’s bday.
I was embarrassed on behalf of the restaurant.
Food’s amazing. Service was good. It’s a little loud, but it’s popular and with good reason. A little pricier than other Mexican spots, but the menu so unique and everything we had was delicious.
LOVED Toloache! Authentic Mexican cuisine, reasonable prices, comfortable atmosphere. Entree portions are a bit small but SO delicious! Staff is very attentive & knowledgeable. Will definitely visit again. HIGHLY recommended!
Food was good. We felt like we were very rushed...they wanted us to get in, eat, get out. It was hard to enjoy the dinner when we felt like they couldn’t wait for us to leave. But, the food was very, very good.
We must have dinner at TOLOACHE whenever we come to NY from our home in Boston. The service is always warm and welcoming and the menu always offers the Best Guac ever plus something new to try.
On this visit it was the suckling pig fixed in a new way. If you visit in good weather be sure to sit in the garden.
We love this place! The food is simply delicious and the service great.
Always spectacular! The food is amazing. We had delicious chicken tacos along with the best Brussels sprouts I’ve ever had and also the Mexican corn-The food is inventive and the service is top-notch!
Very pleasant visit. Margaritas: great. Tacos: tasty. Service: friendly. Will be back
They literally switched out the regular menu 3 mins after we sat for a menu that had $35 dollar plates. Cheap and just wanted to make money off it. 👎🏼
We were there on Cinco de Mayo and enjoyed a festive celebration complete with a mariachi band! Food was upscale Mexico and was delicious. Our waiters were great too. I will definitely be back soon!
Always fabulous! We live around the corner and eat here a lot, and no matter what we order it’s always delicious.
I liked the food. The Waiters and stuff are friendly
The restaurant decor is nice.
I did like the desert tres leches was not good at all to sweet.
Service was ok.
Food was a 4 out of 10
Basically, a very expensive mediocre evening.
Delicious! Just the right spice and heat for all the food
Birthday celebration for our family - we all had a wonderful time!
Despite the very good food and pleasant service the noise is SO EXTREME that I will never return.
Dinner and service were great. Recommend the truffle quesadilla!
Good, crunchy grasshoppers!
It was fantastic! Delicious food, wonderful service and such nice staff. Visiting from out of town but would definitely come back
Our new fav restaurant in NYC. The guacamole was the best I've had, anywhere. The Tomato/Guajillo soup was smoky and had a nice fruity pepper flavor, short rib tacos were great, red snapper was a daily special and it did not disappoint. Best of all they have a vegetarian menu for those in our party who don't eat meat and would like to eat more than a side salad. There was something for everyone and everything was beautifully presented and tasted great.
Our food and server were outstanding. The pomegranate margarita was awesome!
This is our local favorite! Highly recommend the truffle quesadillas and the vegetarian enchiladas. Love the staff and those behind the bar - so friendly and great food every time.
Great food and service. The melocita (tequila cocktail) was outstanding! Love this place.
Highly recommended!!!! Best Mexican restaurant and best staff members!!!
All was fine until they seated a huge party in the back room and all noise “hell” broke lose! People standing, milling around with no regard for the patrons not in their party. Had to get the check and leave.
First time, my wife and enjoyed from the moment we came until leaving!! We will be back and plan to bring others.
Quality of the food wasn’t great, felt heavy after the meal. Perhaps food not fresh.
Food was delicious and drinks were delightful!
Love this place. Great food
Wonderful food and service
Toloache offers a great venue and delicious food, but it has become a very pricey dining experience and the meal is simply no longer price competitive with other good dining options in the area. The small drink servings range from $15 to $18 on average ($20+ with tip, tax) and the small size and ‘iced down’ servings are clearly intended to strongly encourage double orders. The food itself has also gotten pricier. Expect to spend $120 to $150 for two people ($80+ all in for the drinks alone). This restaurant also offers no early ‘Happy Hour’, unlike many of the restaurants in New York, and does not serve lunch other than on the weekends. This might account for the need to significantly raise the per person ticket price to dine here. The food is very good, but it does not justify the cost any longer. So many alternatives in the area abound. If it’s Mexican, hit the restaurants on Upper East 2nd Avenue. The food is less creative, but still ‘Mexican’ and good, and the cost will allow another night, or two!, out.
I've been going to Taloache since it opened and I'm finally writing as I'm amazed by the consistency of both the food and the service. Rarely is a restaurant able to perform at the same high level as seen here. The staff is both very friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. Overall, Taloache, time after time, provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere with a wide variety of terrific upscale Mexican fare.
Appetizers were good. Steak wasn’t cooked to temp or properly. Cocktails good. Service excellent.
Great service. The food and drinks were really good. Ambiance was really nice. Also, the three taco mahi mahi special was fantastic and hope to see it on the menu again. My friends and I can’t wait to go back again!
Be aware that this restaurant is as.ays very noisy, but the food is usually worth it. Not so this time. The shrimp atop the shrimp quesadilla tasted of iodine, and perhaps wasn’t as fresh as it should have been. The chicken enchiladas reminded me of a chicken pot pie just wrapped in corn tortillas. Disappointing, as this was my go to for Mexican in the neighborhood.
High end Mexican food and cozy restaurant. My Mexican friends reconnended it and say it's authentic. Every bite delicious!
