   This was a reservation for a large party to celebrate my birthday over brunch. Unfortunately, the reservation was not properly confirmed — which meant that I was called less than an hour before scheduled arrival and told that we must choose a prix fixe menu with limited choices. At the last minute, with no ability to accommodate dietary restrictions or opportunity to make a new reservation elsewhere, this was somewhat disappointing. Moreover, there was nothing about this policy on the website at the time I made the reservation, so this policy was a last minute surprise. Thankfully, I spoke with the manager on duty and received an apology for the confusion. Please be aware of this prix fixe policy when reserving for large parties. And PLEASE add this to your website clearly, so customers are well aware in advance! Once in the restaurant, we had seamless service. We were able to order ala carte, and our waitress was gracious and welcoming as she managed our dining experience. Everyone enjoyed their food, drinks and coffee; and we were able to have unrushed friend and family time over a good meal!

   Food was sub par. Drink order took 20-30 minutes at least. They coursed out our meal but main course came before we finished starters. Table was too crowded and we had to wave someone down to have it bussed. Not a good experience, especially for the price. Won’t be back.

   First time eating at The Smith for everyone in our party. Because we were a party of 7, we made a reservation. The table was ready a few minutes after our time. I was a little disappointed because the table was small. We wound up snagging an extra table next to us when the diners left. Our waiter came to the table about 10 minutes later. Again, a little slow. But once our orders were taken, and food and drinks arrived, everything settled down. The food was great. The calamari was spicy and crispy. The margaritas were great. Not too sweet or syrupy. The mussels portions were abundant. You were definitely full after eating them. The French fries were hot and fresh and enough for 4 people! I hope they can improve their IPA selection. Stone, Evolution 3, D.C. Brad, there are great local beers. Let's get them in the restaurant! Everyone enjoyed their food. The atmosphere was lively.     Food was good...portions small for the price. Our service was not great as the server never came back to check on us after someone else brought our food. One of our guests received a totally wrong dish and no one ever returned to check on us. We had to wave down a manager to have the dish swapped and that replacement process took over 30 minutes. We also asked for bread 4 times before finally receiving some. Overall, the prices were too high for what you received and the service left much to be desired. Location and ambience was nice, but not sure if I would ever return.

    We were there to celebrate. The wait staff was awful - beverages didn’t arrive till almost the end of the meal and after numerous requests. Side dishes didn’t arrive until virtually the end of the meal (I actually refused the home fries as I had already finished my entire meal before they showed up). What a shame that such good food dampened the mood because the service was so bad.

    I had the Kale salad with chicken and cranberries and goat cheese which was very good for that type of salad - fresh ingredients although chicken was chopped up into small pieces and dotted around the salad - a bit chewy and overcooked. My friend had the same salad with salmon which looked delicious. I like the Smith but it is way to loud in there for lunch compounded by the loud music pounding down from ceiling speakers. Why don’t restaurants get it that we don’t go there to listen to canned music - we go to talk with our guests but in this case we had to yell to hear each other. Sorry but it ruined the overall experience and ambience.

    I enjoyed the food. We dined there for Sunday brunch on mother's day. The food was very good. The service was very friendly, but a little slow - possibly because it was crowded. And it was extremly loud. IT was hard to hear my dining companions at the same table because of the noise. Prices were extremely HIGH in my opinion. Too high for the quality of the food.     Went on Mother's Day 2023. They accomodated us with no problem when I called to say we would be tardy. Parking was not difficult since there was a garage close by. It was clean and the restaurant was catering to indoor and outdoor diners. Our waitress asked if it was our first time and since it was she gave us the specials, explained brunch and answered a few other questions. We all found something we each wanted and she let us make slight additions and substitutions. Everything was cooked with flavor and to perfection. Two of my companions had the shrimp and grits with salmon. I had the strip steak & eggs. It comes with homefries & Hollandaise sauce, it was all delicious. So were our margaritas & my coffee. We had a lovely Mother's Day brunch and from the looks of it, the other patrons were enjoying themselves too. We saw a few nice looking burgers come out, pancakes looked good and the mac & cheese too. When we come back, we want to try the french toast, it had sold out. But it sounded really fantastic--so definitely still want to try it. I really liked the place and the service. It was family friendly but also nice for a casual link up since the drinks were so delicious. Thanks for a good time The Smith!

    Just wonderful! My husband and I decided to have an impromptu Mother's Day brunch at The Smith. The hosts were pleasant and friendly. The food, service, and ambience were all great! The bottomless mimosas were amazing! Such a lovely choice for an easy Sunday morning.

    Ladies at the reservation counter were terrible and don’t try to help you get seating together. Service slow and they got our meal wrong. Waiter nice but new and on his on with no assistance.

    While it took a bit longer than it should have to have our waiter come around to take our drink orders, they made up for the delay by bringing us some complimentary appetizers (we didn't even complain about the wait!). Our waitress was wonderful, as was the food.

    My husband and I travelled to DC for some site seeing. We ordered the salmon with spinach, and both were excellent. They also serve tasty bread with your meal. The ambience was not the best, due to seating. The service was very good.

    The cocktails and oysters were outstanding! We had the strip steaks. The fries were so tasty, as were the greens served with the steaks. The steaks were tasty but a bit dry. Our server was fantastic, charming, attentive, and funny. She alone was enough to bring us back, even though it was quite loud and difficult to converse.

    I took my sister out to celebrate her birthday. We sat outside and had a fabulous experience. The brunch included a sparking sangria that was a nice change for the usual mimosa or Bloody Mary- both were also on offer though. My eggs Benedict on cornbread also unique and yummy. We were brought a complimentary dessert that delighted us. The staff handle was super and handled the rush that is to be expected in such a great place. We will go back!

    Five of us had a lovely brunch. This was the first visit for three of us. Brunch choices included shrimp and grits, french toast, avocado toast, the egg scramble and the eggs benedict. Everyone loved their meals and we shared a bit with each other to taste them. It's really nice that a brunch drink comes with an entree. We each had the bloody mary, which is nice and spicy and perfectly sized for brunch. We were happy to have been seated in the back room where it seemed to be much less noisy. It was extremely packed during our time there so I wonder if the bigger room would have been too noisy for my 79 year old mother. We were seated immediately. Our waitperson was attentive.
