The Reef is a gathering spot that captures the heart of the seadog in all of us. It feels like home port in all the right ways, and acknowledges the wanderlust and adventurous spirit in every sailors soul. Situated dockside in Newport Harbor, The Reef is a waterfront restaurant serving international cuisine inspired by the travels of sailors to ports around the world, with a drink selection to suit every taste. Our versatile harborside space is great for intimate gatherings and large celebrations alike, yet casual enough for spontaneous come-as-you-are get-togethers. Down a quick libation at the end of a perfect sail, or enjoy a meal with flavors from faraway places while listening to live music on the patio. Our accommodating staff guarantees a pleasant, memorable experience every time you visit. At the Reef, we believe every day can be a good one when you’re surrounded by the sights, sounds and flavors of the sea.

Fantastic food, view and service. Overall close to perfect...the dining area could have used some heat. We were cold. We will be back!

Great views and always open when we needed it. At outside in October and then inside in November. Food was very good, not gourmet in my opinion, but reliably good. Some parking and off the beaten track in crazy Newport. I’d go again!

Thank you for visiting us and for sharing your thoughtful feedback! We’re glad you enjoyed the views, food, and both our indoor and outdoor spaces. We appreciate your kind words and look forward to welcoming you back the next time you’re in Newport!

The Reef seemed to be very busy on the night we were there. Our server Olivia was kind, but too busy to give our table the attention I would have liked. My food came out ice cold (Risotto) but was promptly brought a new one (would have liked an explanation along with the apology). The bar was also very slow on getting out drinks to the table. Hotsesses also did not say anything to us as we were leaving. We enjoyed the food when it was correct but probably would not return due to the inattentivness of the staff.
The ReefResponded on October 29, 2025
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed your meal once it was corrected, but we’re sorry for the delays and lack of attentiveness you experienced. We’ll be reviewing this with our team to ensure better communication and service, even on busy nights.

Lovely dining experience included an elegant dining room with an amazing view, exceptional service, and delicious food. The lobster pasta was recommended by our server and enjoyed. The Caesar was one of the best I’ve ever had.

Food was terrible. Tasteless. Servers were okay - not super welcoming, didn’t give us specials. Took food away before we were done.

The food and service was good. My only suggestion is to offer wine with more reasonable price points. I don’t think there was anything below $85. That will keep me from returning.
