   There was a large group of drunken college kids who gradually took over the courtyard through the dinner and the service was incredibly slow/inattentive (I overheard that maybe someone had called out unexpectedly leaving them understaffed so this may not be the case always). The food was mediocre, especially given the price.

   Super great food and great atmosphere; only issue was the server didn't come back one time for a table of 5. No drink refills, no more coffee, no condiments we needed. We did try to wave her down politely.

   The food and service was great, but the dining area doesn't hit the mark of a high-end restaurant. It's one big open space that looks like a nice cafeteria. Not very intimate dining.

   We showed up on time and waited as the hostess was on a call. We waited as she explained every nuance of every dish on the menu to the caller, even pausing to walk to the kitchen to ask questions of the staff. Numerous times she could’ve easily asked the caller to hold so she could seat us and get back to her call. After 20 minutes of this we decided to leave and go to another restaurant nearby where we were greeted, seated, and taken care of by a much more courteous and attentive staff.

    The drinks were outstanding, the food flashed greatness but the risotto was cold with the consistency of glue and the service was absolutely awful taking 1.5 hours from order to entree and a waitress who might have been the slowest most catatonic person alive.

    Pleasant and attentive waitress. We were a party of four. Each ordered a different brunch dish. Eggs Benedict with salmon instead of pork belly, biscuits and gravy, quiche and the smoked salmon bagel. All dishes were delicious.

    Fantastic service from our server! She was incredibly attentive and neither one of us had to worry about out wine glass being empty. The pre-fixe menu didn’t provide the value we were expecting for the price, but food was prepared perfectly.

    I went for the special Restaurant Week menu. The three oysters were so fresh and tasty examples of three types of preparation. The pork cop was hearty and the gluten-free chocolate dessert was rich. The service was quite pleasant and attentive and the dining room is modern and attractive.

    No. Just no. I’ve had better meals out of emergency room vending machines. I understand that you might not get the most expensive offerings during restaurant week, but I would think that would be the time when a restaurant would try its best to bring in new local patrons. Unfortunately, Pink Grouse failed right out of the starting gate. Three itsy-bitsy oysters for my appetizer, and a doughy “fritter” for my wife — really? I’m not sure what they served my wife for her entree, but it wasn’t coq au vin. My schnitzel was pretty good, but the baby potatoes and green beans were significantly undercooked. Dessert - meh…. By that point, I just wanted to pay the bill and leave. On the plus side, the hotel and restaurant is beautiful…but $20 for a martini? In Manhattan or Chicago, sure. In Charlottesville — no. Sorry, Pink Grouse…I can’t imagine darkening your very lovely foyer again.

    Food was very nice indeed. Drinks and wine selections also and fairly priced. Like your Barboursville selections. We had white bean soup, arugula and apple salad, Muscovy duck, swordfish, all delicious and nicely presented. Only drawback was the plating for the duck which was not piping hot and should have been, plate was not warmed enough. Emma did an outstanding job serving as hostess AND waiting on all the tables. She was polite and attentive throughout the meal and I did not want to address the lack of heat on the entree because she had her hands full. None of us four guests had dessert but I tried your regular coffee - it was excellent. We will be back and will recommend Grouse.

    Both entrees were lukewarm, “grilled bread” served with the mussels was stale and cold, “grilled halumi cheese” on the salad was actually cold, risotto was undercooked and crunchy, service was very poor bc server was new and had inadequate training and no support from management to help her.     The New Year's Day brunch at Pink Grouse was lovely. We had several options to choose from at the buffet and everything I tasted was delicious. The weather was wonderful, so we enjoyed bellinis on the patio.

    The food was fabulous! The one server who showed up for work on New Years Day, was delightful! Kudos to the chef for delicious food ! I greatly appreciate both of these two who made it possible for the restaurant to be open on New Years Day!

    Our first—but not the last—visit. The food was superb (the demiglace on the steak was a huge hit), the service outstanding and the atmosphere festive. We were not rushed and could actually hear ourselves talk. A delightful experience all around.

    Saturday brunch: few people eating at 0930. Bloody Mary was good but came plain; no olives, celery, etc. omelet was cooked nicely, but potatoes were a tad undercooked. I do not like to stare at a blank wall even when with someone. I know I could have asked to change but this was a table for two and did not want to take up a four top. Service was top notch.

    The place was beautiful and the atmosphere was very nice. The service was on point and we were treated to a view of the meal preparations. Cocktails were outstanding. The dish I ordered was short on the meat in the dish but very good. Recommended and will return. The Bone Marrow starter was excellent.

    Same deal as the other time we ate there. You can see the kitchen and the angry chef. The two seater tables on the side near the window have chairs 2 far apart so that you can't hear each other, the staff and wait staff seem a bit lost, the food was very good. This time we made reservations for Thanksgiving dinner. We kept calling to see what the menu was--for almost 2 weeks and no one would return our call. We wanted to know how they were doing Thanksgiving dinner so that, if it wasn't enough like turkey, we could go else. They finally got the menu straight a couple of days before. Since it was probably the only open restaurant downtown, they could have had a big crowd. But it wasn't because who would go to a restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner that doesn't say anything about it on the website, etc. Yet the food was good.

    While in Charlottesville for an alumni event at UVA, I was excited to try this venue and support what looked like an experience that would rival some of the loveliest restaurants where I live in NYC. OMG was I wrong. It's beautiful inside, but unless you are up for the slowest service and the most underwhelming food ever, avoid the Pink Grouse. My date and I waited 45 minutes for our drink order and sat with empty water glasses for the most of that time. We almost walked out. Although the waitress blamed the bartender for epically slow service, that didn't explain how long it took for our food to come. When it did, it was the most average fair I've had in a while. I never leave reviews like this, but I also have never had such a terrible experience - even the tables next to us were complaining and they got their drinks and food before we did. To add insult to injury, everything is priced so high, it makes the disappointment even more infuriating.

    Worth every penny. I am so surprised to see how little reviews this has. The entire staff, from front to back of the house, has it down to a science. Get the bone marrow and the seared duck. Thank me later.

    Do not come here if you have to be somewhere after. Everything was so slow. It took 45 minutes to get my cocktail and a glass of water to start and then everything else was just as slow. The waitstaff were very nice and seemed on top of things so I don’t know if it’s the kitchen or bar or what that’s so slow but everything took forever and then the food was lukewarm after they said they had to re-fire it due to overcooking it the first time.
