I initially was put off because I made a reservation in advance, but when I got there still had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. However, once we sat down the manager came over and apologized and gave us a complimentary appetizer. Service was great and staff attentive. Ambiance was very romantic, but a little noisy. Food was excellent (had the lobster spaghetti), but very small portion for the price. I would probably try it again.

Cozy vibe and very good food. Great vegetarian options and wine list. Service is a little slow, but that’s comparative for a nyc-based eater (found that at most spots in philly), but also very friendly, accommodating, and responsive.

My husband and I dined at The Love for the first time to celebrate our anniversary/Valentine's Day. We couldn't have picked a better restaurant! The service was fantastic--the staff was so enthusiastic about the food they were serving, too! We had cocktails, the cheeseboard, the scallops, the duck special, and their specialty red velvet sundae--everything was delicious! Easily the best meal we have had in a while. Highly recommend!

The food was fantastic but our server seemed really unhappy to be at work that evening! Noise level is challenging but we made it work.

First time we went here, and we will be back. Amazing brunch menu. Frittata was the best one I ever had! Pancakes were amazing with the cherry sauce, and gravlox was delicious. Everyone in my group was pleased with the food. Service was super. As soon as we sipped water, it was refilled. It is noisy.

I made reservations for Valentines Day this year. I booked 2 weeks in advance, but was still only able to reserve a table for 2 for 9:30pm. I see now why their availability was limited as this restaurant is hands down my favorite place to eat/visit now in Philly! From the warm greeting from the host at the door, to the bartender waiting on us as we waited for our table, to dinner in itself, it was the best experience I've had in a very long time. The food was to die for! The salmon dish was impeccable. The steak melts in your mouth, and the sides were amazing! We ordered brussel sprouts (noms!), polmenta (yum!) and finished the meal off with a complimentary dessert from the chef to help us celebrate our Valentines Day. Overall this experience was phenomenal. I am making reservations for a girls night, and can't wait to go! Highly recommend this place. Salmon is a must!

Food and service was perfect. We were seated by the window on the second floor, which would have been lovely except it was too close to the very noisy bar area. Even so, I think it may have been quieter than the downstairs dining room.

The only complaint I could possibly make about our otherwise excellent experience is that the drinks were small given their high-ish price. They too, though, were terrific.

Loved the ambiance of the restaurant. The fried chicken which seems to be very popular was very bland. I was really looking forward to it too! Also not sure if they use msg in their food, but both my husband and I were up all night tossing which never happens??? Mystery😕

the love. nailed it. great wine, great food, beautiful ambiance. in a sea of awesome restaurants it takes a lot to stand out, the love is unassuming and down to earth. you dont need bells and whistles when you have a staff that knows EXACTLY how to do their job right.

I was disappointed in the food at The Love. We ordered the eggplant parmigiana and it was so heavily breaded that you could barely taste the eggplant. The rest of the food we ordered was good, not great. I expected more from an Amy Olexy/Stephen Starr restaurant. Don't think I'll return.

The food was excellent: well prepared & presented, locally grown & organic (mostly) and very flavorful & (somewhat) adventurous. For that last part: the flavors & combinations may be 'adventurous' & not always familiar, but stick with them - they may grow on you, & if not, they'll still be a new & well-crafted experience.
[The wine list was also impressive, & contained a wide range of well sourced offerings - including some from local Pennsylvania vintners, that paired well with the menu selections.)
The location is a bit far off from the main theater & performing arts & culture venues, but with time & planning (& decent weather) is doable.
The ambiance is spare but attractive (a lot of dark wood & trim & hard surfaces), but the noise level is too high for comfortable quiet conversation.

If you're into miniature cocktails that are more expensive than some of the food options, this is a great spot. Otherwise, lots of better options out there for crafty concoctions of a normal size when you need a hair of the dog. The food is fair, but unfortunately nothing to plan a trip to the city around. The environment would be cozy if the tables weren't so close together. Every time you feel settled, a server walks into your chair or the person at the table next to you needs to get out of their sit. This is one of those spots that's just fine, nothing more.

If I could give a higher rating than 5 stars I would. Very simply put....Best service, great management, perfect ambiance, amazing food, and great location. We will be back time and time again. We had an 8:30pm reservation on a busy Saturday night so I would have expected a little wait which turned out to be the case but only about 20 minutes. We sat at the nice bar and enjoyed a drink while we waited. After being seated the manager came to our table to personally apologize for a 20 minute wait and delivered us a free appetizer! I highly recommend you try The Love!
