THE GRILL is a mid-century American Chophouse created by Mario Carbone, Jeff Zalaznick and Rich Torrisi. It is housed in the only landmarked restaurant in New York inside the iconic Seagram Building and takes great inspiration from it's surroundings.
As it's name implies, the grill is meaningful to the restaurants style, service and food. Major Food Group takes great pride in celebrating the tradition of great food and great fun in one of the world's greatest restaurant spaces.
What Insiders Are Saying
The Grill is the revamp of the legendary Four Seasons restaurant, run by the people behind Carbone. It’s very similar, very expensive, and worth it.
Fantastic on every level
This was an amazing place to eat we had a great time with the best beer we’ve ever eaten
We dined here for our anniversary on Monday evening. Setting was beautiful with outstanding food. Our server was very polite and excited to have us, he even offered us a complimentary dessert to celebrate our anniversary. We felt very welcomed by him. We did not however feel welcomed by the ladies at the hostess desk. We were likely a little flushed after rushing from another event to make our reservation in time. Additionally... while my husband had changed, I was still in the formal attire I had worn for said event. This was too clearly very amusing to the hostess staff who should be professional enough to remain composed and hold their expressions and opinions until out of view of their guests. These ladies did not represent the establishment well upon our arrival or our departure. Otherwise, a lovely experience.
Top spot for a great night. Amazing service. Great food. Elegant decor
excellent experience from the first moment when the reception staff greets you warmly- no arrogance or attitude-- and ushers you upstairs to the beautiful subdued elegance of the main dining area in which you can actually hear your table mates speak. Every single staff member is efficient, accomodating, cheerful and kind. Superb waiter. Food presentation lovely, everything delicious. Expensive but worth it.
Second time here and loved it even more! Fabulous food and exceptional service. Beautiful setting and not too noisy which is a big plus!! Will go back again!
Honestly, one of the BEST dining experiences. Incredibly thoughtful staff, awesome service, beautiful space and classic ambiance. We were in such a rush, having screwed up our own evening, including a scrambled arrival after having trouble finding a cab in city construction, but in an hour we were treated like old friends, and it made OUR WEEK in NY. Thank you to ALL the staff at The Grill! Hope to be back ASAP!
The service was amazing, very professional!
Great steak and service.
Extraordinary in every possible way. Delicious. Unforgettable. Perfection.
It’s fine for a special occasion. It’s beautiful. I found the prices steep . The Dover sole was $104 . Our server, Raff was superb . I’d go back if insisted but I wouldn’t make the effort on my own. I would however have drinks at the bar. It was lively .
Fantastic, i recommend it. Service is perfect. More expensive than usual
Good to see the former Four Seasons restaurant up and running again. It's lost a little of the vintage charm but the Lippold sculpture looks amazing all polished. I LOVE salt but everything was like a salt lick. I kept asking my dining companion if the salt delivery exploded in the kitchen. It was truly bizarre. The Pain Perdu dessert was not salty and was extremely delicious.
Food and service was great! If you’re ordering a dirty martini make sure you tell them to make it from scratch (they have been using a pre-made mix) which was awful. Bread is amazing too! Enjoy!
Very rude staff in the pool room (where we were transferred for dessert)
Dining rooms are great; like most restaurants in this price range, though, the food is good but not amazing. Paying this much is certainly not a prerequisite to enjoying food of this caliber.
A perfect spot for a birthday lunch! Everything was fabulous.
Great as always. You feel like you are in a 80's wall street movie.
It's the best NYC restaurant. NYC at it's best!
Great service. Great music. Fsntastic ambiance. Super Duck/Fowl egg pasta to start and AMAZING PRIME RIB!!!!!
We had an amazing night celebrating our anniversary. Absolutely perfect for a special occasion. Top notch and service made the night complete.
What a disappointment. For those prices everything should be perfect. There were so many things wrong with this dining experience it can’t be a fluke. Our entrees did not come out at the same time. The espresso never arrived. The food was mediocre. I will never go back here and don’t advise that anyone else does either.
Nice venue. I’ve eaten here many times for lunch. I’ve never walked out thinking that I enjoyed the meal (except the blue crab gumbo). I think the servers at lunchtime wish the 3 martini lunch would come back. People don’t really drink at lunch nowadays. Hence, the tips are lower and the servers less attentive.
Superb ambiance, get there early and enjoy a drink at the delightful bar...very solid wine list...food is very good but not michelin starred level
Delicious but not creative food, accompanied by on point service in a historic and iconic room. An experience not to be missed.
We went there tornou-se anniversary and had an amazing experience. Service was outstanding and the meal was excellent. I had the guinea hen and foie gras and it was delightful. Totally recommend
Few choises on the meny !
Sallad with grab was fantastic! Like the bread!
Recommended to order rib...was nice and tender meet, but far to big and the ribs were served by side ....and nothing by side i.e potatoes and/or veggies..?
Very Good wine suggestion.
What a wonderful culinary adventure. Professional service, delicious food in a delightful setting complimented with enjoyable music made this an especially marvelous dining experience. Unfortunately, from a culinary stance, we live in Beverly Hills otherwise this would be our “go to place” in NYc
The service and ambience is very good, but both of our steaks were over salted.
Lovely place, I made reservations for 6 and they were able to sit 8 of us even tho I was 30 minutes late. I think that’s fantastic & exceptional as most restaurants would never do that. I’ll be back again and again!!!
I have been wanting to come to The Grill for a while and finally was able to get reservations. I dine out a lot at many fine restaurants, but honestly this experience was one of the best experience I have ever had. From the greeters at the entrance, to the server at the bar, who I wish I could remember her name and give her a shout out. The ambiance was exactly what I hoped for. The restaurant was overflowing with people, but we never felt squished or uncomfortable. The space is gorgeous. Volkan was our server at the table, and we LOVE him. He made the phenomenal dinner even better. The sommelier was also incredible in helping us choose our selection. Every single person who works there did there job, and well. Really were no flaws, and that is hard to do. Wow! Bravo to you!
Wonderful fine dining experience. My wife and I were traveling to NYC for a short vacation seeing a play and doing the usual tourist stuff. We asked a friend for restaurant recommendations and he suggested The Grill. Great serene ambiance in the Pool portion of the restaurant, great service and great food. Expensive but worth it.
I hosted a business dinner with a good client & his wife. Via previous, like dinners we (thx expense account) have been to some fabulous places (Daniel, ‘21’, Scalinatella, Il Mulino (3rd st), etc). We were extremely excited to go to The Grill for many reasons: loved the Four Seasons and have made respect for this management group (Carbone, Dirty French etc). Moreover, I was interested to see how the table side service plays out as I think that’s fun and adds to the dinner (versus sitting at Daniel waiting for your next “bite” of food).
Anyway, I couldn’t of been more pleased and impressed: true pros at every turn. Highly recommend the place, I’ll be back (hopefully on expense account or someone else’s “dime.”).
The butter lettuce, avocado and crab louie salad was amazing; hands down best salad I've ever had. Ambiance was perfect and service was superb. Wait staff was told that we had to get to a show and leave by 6:30 p.m. so they 100% accommodated our expedited schedule without making us feel rushed. The wine list for this restaurant is extremely comprehensive.
Several main menu items weren’t available. Disappointing.
Absolutely fantastic dinner service.
Excellent service and excellent food. Could not fault one aspect of the experience and all the staff were so welcoming and professional.
Would no doubt dine here again if I returned to New York.
