About this restaurant

Good for special occasions
Romantic
Innovative

Ever since 1995, The Go Down Restaurant has been serving up the finest quality British food to the people in York. Its location in the historic city centre makes it a popular choice among tourists, as well as being a local favourite and the elegant and refined decor provides the perfect backdrop for a special evening out. Begin your meal with some black pudding served with a rich red wine sauce and crispy bacon, or the lightly-battered cod cheeks with lemon puree. Then, move on to some minted lamb rump with redcurrant & mint reduction served on braised lentils, the pan-fried seabass on a mildly curried broth, or one of the many veggie-friendly options like the somerset brie tart with apple chutney. Located inside York House on Clifford Street, The Go Down Restaurant draws in diners from all over the area – book ahead to avoid disappointment!

The restaurant is lovely and the food is really good. It was quite noisy but then there was a Christmas party going on. The lady that owns it is very attentive.
