Second try after a couple of months - hoping some kinks had been worked out. Service still very slow. Restaurant less than half full, would hate to be there when it was busy. Beautiful restaurant. Expensive for what you get and an added 3% kitchen fee. For instance, a small bowl (yes, served in a soup bowl) of fries is $11 and absolutely nothing special about them. The crab ravioli is far too al dente and the filling is thick and dry - $36. The smoky flavored orange oil they drizzle over the ravioli is not mentioned in the description and overpowers the nearly non-existent sauce. Will spare more food reviews at this time. I keep wanting to like this restaurant because it's so lovely but the food is mediocre at best and service isn't great.

The George has a lovely ambiance, but the food was subpar for a Fairmont hotel (Shrimp on salad was fishy and salty) and I had to request additional crab for my crab salad as there was a tiny amount when served. The waitress, to her credit, did not up charge for the additional crab as she acknowledged that there was not enough crab with the initial serving.

My wife, mother-in-law and I went to The George for Sunday brunch. The service was excellent and the food overall very well-prepared and beautifully presented. We also appreciated that it was a leisurely paced brunch and that we didn't feel rushed to leave. The one disappointment was the noise level. The background music was so loud that it was difficult to hear someone with a soft voice seated across a small table. The George and Fairmont overall have wonderful ambiance but the noise level in The George will cause me to reconsider if/when I return, and who I would invite to join me.

The level of service was top notch. As someone with celiac’s disease, this restaurant had noted my dietary preferences in my OpenTable profile and offer suggestions and things to stay away from without me even having to ask or mention my restriction. Care was put to avoid cross contamination with the efforts noted by the food runner with each course. The only reason they are not getting 5 stars is because the duck breast was very tough. Everything else we ordered was delicious.

We are frequent guests and have enjoyed several meals since the reopening. Unfortunately yesterday’s lunch was awful. My husband’s burger was served burnt and cold. Our guest Arap did not receive the side salad but was incorrect served fries. His burger was cold but not burnt. My pasta was warm but I was nervous that the kitchen didn’t adhere to precautions for my shellfish allergy. If they aren’t reading the ticket then what portion was given attention? The berries we ordered as a starter cane out with the entrees and looked slimy. We rejected them. The server Lyn was abysmal. We called her over but were ignored. Unable to communicate about the cold and incorrect food. No water refills. Her nail polish was chipped and smudged she was not of the quality we expect from servers at the Fairmont. We spoke to a manager who offered apologies but no offer for warm or correct food was provided; definitely a green manager. I was so embarrassed as we were taking our friend out to celebrate his new cannabis brand with Snoop Dog. Alas we are regulars of the hotel and will try again. But if we didn’t have history with the hotel Id never return after such a disappointing experience.

Everything was amazing. I’m only giving 3 stars on the food due to the Thanksgiving stuffing from the prix fixe menu. The rest of the food was delicious, our server was outstanding, and the ambiance was beautiful! The stuffing did not taste anything like traditional stuffing, it just tasted like buttered baked bread. I understand wanting to get creative and add your own spin on dishes, but this one didn’t even resemble what most people get excited about for the traditional holiday dish. I’ll definitely be back to try regular menu items😊

Wonderful traditional Thanksgiving dinner, and not too salty, thank you! Baby kale salad with roast walnuts and buttermilk dressing was fresh and cold, not wilted. Turkey was not dried out and the potatoes and dressing were great, likewise the sunchokes. Outstanding service from Gary and Ana. Plenty to eat and drink, including the great wine pairings. Really enjoyed the Amaro Lucano with dessert.

Firstly, we were blessed to be able to dine in such a beautiful dining room! Not having to cook was such a treat for me, and I really don't want to complain. Unfortunately, the Turkey dinner was very under-seasoned and mine was barely warm... The cranberry sauce was very SALTY and bitter, could not eat. The sunchokes & soup were wonderful & the best part of dinner! This all could be related to the volume on a holiday, when you're doing mass service like this it's easy for things to not be as great as they could be. Thank you everyone for working!!

Thanksgiving dinner. I don't know how you can mess up mashed potatoes, but they managed. Just potatoes. No cream, butter, or gravy. Bland and grainy and unpleasant. The dressing was pretty uninspired, too -- mushy, nothing like onion or nuts that might add some flavor and texture. We were unimpressed, and won't be back.

Appreciate being able to get in last minute on Thanksgiving and willing to work with a holiday fixed menu. While menu choices were questionable execution was BAD; many items lacking flavor, steak undercooked, pumpkin and carrot soup was the highlight

It was Thanksgiving. Our table was right next to the service door so the waitstaff was continually going in and out literally one foot behind me. We asked if there was another table but they said the only other was right next to the entryway/reception area. We figured that might be worse. And we had made the reservation weeks in advance. The food was good but surprisingly small portions and served family style even though there was only two of us, and for a fixed price of $80 per meal.

A pleasant place to spend time eating and visiting with dear friends . . . but I wish the tables/booths were farther apart. The men sitting directly behind us, who were deep into an energetic, business discussion, made it difficult for my friend and I to hear each other. The decorative metal work at the back of our "booth" did nothing to help the sound problem. Donna Bergman

It literally took 30 minutes from the moment we sat down until our pre dinner cocktails arrived. Put us in too sour of. Mood to enjoy the new menu. Once we got to the food, it tasted good but the choices were nothing special. We have given five stars to the George in the past, but the two last outings with the interminable wait in the beginning forced us to downgrade in hopes they better engineer the process from initial seating to serving drinks before dinner.

Overall experience was festive for the special occasion we were celebrating. We started off at the wrong foot as the hostess denied that there was a reservation under my name when my Asian son asked them. So he was stressed while waiting for me to arrive. However, when my daughter, an Asian female and her white boyfriend arrived, they found the reservation right away. I do not know how to interpret that. We were not happy about the treatment of my son, who is very soft-spoken and nonintimidating-looking. My daughter told one of the other hostesses about the discrimination. However, it was a festive occasion so we set out to have an otherwise wonderful evening. The ambience was lovely, reminiscent of Paris. The service was incredibly slow even though there were not many patrons there between our 7:45pm reservation and when we finally finished dessert past 10:30pm. The servers werekind and attentive. The food was inconsistent: The two steak frite dishes were perfect. The two cod dishes were overcooked and rubbery. The desserts were disappointing--the cherries jubilee was presented and tasted like an ice cream sundae at Red Robins. Also, the croissant mille feuille was incorrectly named, more croissant creme sandwich with peach drizzle. For such a pricey restaurant one would have expected higher execution of the food. More pretentious than stellar. I considered an overhead for the ambiance. Overall, we were in a good mood and enjoyed the experience and conviviality.

Absolutely beautiful room decorated with class and grace in the historic Fairmont Olympic Hotel. We dined here to celebrate my birthday both for breakfast and for dinner. The wait staff was absolutely impressive. They were friendly, kind, attentive and accommodating. Perhaps the best service I’ve ever experienced. Our breakfast was delicious, cooked fresh and beautifully presented. We had breakfast here twice, once with just my husband and I and another with our family, a large group with small children and both experiences were wonderful. Our dinner, unfortunately had some hits and misses. Hits: our server was amazing! My daughter’s French onion soup and Brussels sprouts side were perfect! Our cocktails were perfectly mixed and tasty. Misses: Both my husband and granddaughter ordered the Steak frites (hers from the kids menu). His was $54 and hers was $18. The only difference between the two was his fries had seasoning on it and hers did not and his steak came with a bone marrow butter. I believe the steaks were different cuts of meat, but the quantity was the same. His steak and fries arrived merely warmish and had to be sent back. I ordered my granddaughters steak medium well, but it was medium rare. She ate it just fine, but it was unappetizing. Our waiter informed us the kitchen was busy so our meals may take awhile (which was fine) and asked if we’d like bread. We said yes, but we’re surprised to be charged $9 for it when the bill arrived. We were also surprised to be charged a “kitchen fee”. Not even sure what that was for? Overall, I felt special and pampered dining here, but in the future I think I’ll skip the dinner service and instead enjoy the breakfast, lunch or tea service.
