The food was average.
Had a great St Patrick's Day Corn Beef Sandwich with great live music!
Had some guests I. From out of town. Visited the Gage for a late lunch on St Patrick’s day. Got a nice table in the back near the fireplace. Food was very good. Great atmosphere for St Paddy’s day with live 3piece Irish band and roving bagpiper. Very enjoyable.
It’s St. Patrick’s Day. It was a party.
Great food, great service, never disappointed at The Gage.
Had an exceptional st Patrick’s celebration. Everything from the kindness of the wait staff to the the taste of the food was exceptional. Highly recommend!
My friend and I hit The Gage on St. Paddy's Day and what an excellent experience. As it was brunch for us, we both had the homemade corned beef hash with poached eggs and hollandaise. Excellent. The place was noisier than usual but the atmosphere was great. Wait staff all with green t-shirts and helpful and friendly as ever. I've been to The Gage many times now and have enjoyed every single time. Thanks to the wait staff, bartenders and management. It was a delightful St. Patrick's Day!
What a perfect way to spend St Paddy’s Day brunch!
It was St. Patrick's Day and the bagpiper, while very good, was extremely loud. When he played next to our table we had to cover our ears. Love bagpipe music, but probably better outside than in.
Great food and fantastic service. True Chicago tradition
It was 🍀Saint Patrick’s Day🍀, so the place was hoppin!
Band was awesome, bagpiper was great, food was fantastic, atmosphere was energetic! Everything we hoped for.
Will be back, same time, same place next year!
Keep that corned beef sandwich 💚 for next year!! Definitely an improvement over the fish pie from last year 🤐
Love this place!!!
Love the hospitality at the Gage year round by especially for annual St. Pat’s celebration there.
Great St. Pats ! Thank you !! For an unbelievable time . 🍀
Amazing service and food
The venison loin chops were cooked perfectly and the accompanying sauce was so good I almost drank what was left on my plate. Then my friend ordered the chocolate tart for dessert after I passed on the opportunity. My mistake! Personally, a chocolate tart is the last thing I'd ever order because they tend to be a little too heavy on the chocolatey goodness. This one was unreal! It was perfectly balanced and delicious. Easily the best chocolate dish I've ever had and completely unexpected. He made me try a bite after talking about how good it was and the next thing I know we were fighting to share the rest of it. I may have to start rethinking my dessert strategy.
I liked the food very much, but the noise level was so loud it was almost impossible to talk. I am hesitant about returning.
Good food. Would like a better dessert menu though.
Some of our food was great but some poor. Wines were uninteresting and overpriced. Service was terrific, noise deafening, ambience kind of hectic fun.
Great! Enjoyed all of the experience and service was great! Try the Scottish Egg-it was delicious. Fun atmosphere with lots of hustle and bustle. Bagpiper was awesome!!!!
Great dining experience prior to attending the Smithsonian Jazz Festival. Service was well paced, food was flavorful, nice variety of items in the menu, and the wait staff actually remembered our names!
Our server was great and the food was delicious. I had the super green salad which was tasty but, I was amazed that in order to add shrimp to a $14 salad they charged an additional $14.00. A $28 salad when all they added were four small shrimp. Ridiculous.
Great all around!
I can’t believe the butterscotch dessert currently on the menu is being retired! Say it isn’t so!! I guess I will console myself with a ramekin of the most decadent mashed potatoes I’ve tasted. That recipe better not be retired.
Very good. We were in a booth up front. Good food with healthy options. Good service and we enjoyed it immensely.
Our waiter was wonderful!
Quick visit to Chicago
I enjoyed a delightful lunch at the Gage with family and friends. The service, food and environment were great!
Food is good but the restaurant is always crowded and very noisy. This was my third time reserving and the third time I had to waitto be seated. While there is a quiet area in the back that is in front of the kitchen, if you are not in one of the booths but seated at a table, you will be very crowded.
The service is always spot-on here. Much of my party was super late arriving (about 30 minutes), and despite being quite full, they still held the table for us. Our server was knowledgeable, gracious, and attentive, including to my friends’ long list of food allergies and restrictions. Typically the food is pretty darn good too, though the kitchen was a bit off its game this time. The burger was a little bland and they forgot to add shrimp to one of the salads. I’d give it another try though based on past experiences.
Provided complemtary glass of wine because we couldn't be seated at reservation time . Food excellent and servings size "filling" Prompt service so we could get to Syphonony on time.
Great restaurant. Only fault - it’s really cold! I was wearing my coat during the meal!
Great spot for lunch or dinner- food is nicely prepared and the decor is pleasant. A favorite to meet up with the nephews! Nice bar and wine/beer/cocktail selections! Overall a solid place with attentive professional service!
Ashley was fantastic! Crushing the Moscow and Mezcal Mules! My wife and I really enjoyed our visit! Besides that the bunless hashbrown burger is a baller option for celiacs!!!
Our waiter West was amazing and we will be coming back again
Great service and food was outstanding!
A perfect location if you're visiting The Art Institute, Millenium Park, or the theatre district. Expansive menu, beautiful presentation. The staff is very attentive without being obtrusive. Our server noticed our coats were in our way so she whisked them off to the coatroom. Plus it's a beautiful place!
We went looking for a pre-theater light meal offering and were very pleasantly surprised by The Gage. Nice atmosphere, pleasantly appointed and frankly larger than I would have guessed from the street view ... Add to that a great waiter ... and very good food that ranged from light to more than we were looking for that specific night should we have been interested. If there was a negative it was the overall noise level in the restaurant ... This might be anything from a plus to a "nothing" for others but my wife wears a hearing aid and the ambient sound level was more that she might have preferred. I have adjusted to her preferences and now I too normally prefer a slightly quieter environment for dinner than what we encountered ...
Nice, traditional style Chicago restaurant. Extremely friendly, welcoming, helpful staff. Menu choices are somewhat traditional steaks, chops, burgers, etc but with some nice alternatives like curry or daily fish. Our group had an excellent salad with citrus and beautiful fresh greens, a pork chop, mussels, and half a chicken. All good.
Its a nice restaurant and very centrally located. However we were not sat in an ideal place for a business dinner. It was very loud . Further the menu felt limited and by the time we were sat and ordering they were out of a key appetizer. Not sure I'd frequent again for a business dinner.
LOVED the fluke and chocolate tart. Way good! Service was great. Wine bottles are pricing not much break from ordering by the glass.
