About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Neighborhood gem
  • Good for business meals
For over three decades, The Drover has been the place to go in Omaha, Nebraska for a good steak. The rustic, vintage decor and dim lighting adds to the traditional steakhouse ambiance. Reservations are encouraged at The Drover due to its popularity. The signature whiskey marinade, available on cuts, such as the filet and the ribeye, is what sets The Drover apart from other steakhouses in the area. Shrimp, chicken and seafood entrees are all also available should a guest prefer an alternative to red meat. Burgers, appetizers and soups are options for those looking for lighter fare. No visit is complete without a trip to the salad bar. Not only is it a healthy choice, it is also known as one of the first salad bars in Omaha.

The lobster bisque soup was excellent! The steak was tender and cooked perfectly. The loaded baked potato was so good, I could have just eaten it for dinner by itself. The ice cream sundae must have had 3 scoops of ice cream in it. A really great meal.

The good - The atmosphere was very dark and romantic like, seemed fancy and the salad bar was really good. The bad - we ordered a medium rare whiskey soaked steak, halibut and French fries. Our food didn’t show up for a whole entire hour even though we were the 3rd table that ordered and both parties ahead of us weren’t big. The steak was rare/blue and tasted like char, the halibut was over cooked and burnt. The fries weren’t even seasoned and had no flavor or salt on them. After seeing rave reviews and expecting to get food worth bang for our buck, you’re honestly better off going to Texas Roadhouse or making your steak at home. 2/10 do not recommend.

Too loud. Super slow service. Steak tasty but not worth the price. Broccoli cold. Salad bar unimpressive.

Classic menu items that allow them to focus on being an expert in the items they are offering. Salad bar is a great classic touch with many options to make a great salad. Team approach to serving and bill collection to expedite visit without feeling rushed.

The Drover was PACKED last night. However, even though the staff had their hands full, service was prompt, attentive, and correct. Our appetizers hit the table within what felt like 10 minutes of ordering, at most. Beverage service was on point. The meal took just a little longer to get to our table than usual, but not nearly as long as we feared it might take, considering the large number of patrons in the house that night. The main dishes arrived hot, fresh, and as superbly cooked as always. Another wonderful night at The Drover. A jewel in the crown of dining in Omaha, Nebraska. Everyone on their staff know how to make a guest feel welcome and special, and are incomparable in their skills at serving their customers.

I invited my two teenage granddaughters to lunch on Monday and told them they could select any restaurant in town. The Drover was their number one choice! The Drover never lets us down. They always know what they are going to order so never a discussion there! One gets a plain burger and the other a teriyaki kabob. The one establishment in Omaha where they eat every bite on the plate which is a huge compliment! Thank you Drover employees for welcoming us!

We absolutely loved our meal and service! They even brought us a piece of cheesecake to celebrate our anniversary! Only thing negative was how cold it was inside!
