Great service, staff couldn't be more efficient and friendly. Food was lovely. Only mark down was the lack of non alcoholic lagers.

I was disappointed with the roast dinner - it said roast pork with crispy crackling. It was not crispy and it was basically a cube of fat. The rest of the roast (i.e. the veg) was nice. The ploughman’s was good as was the burger & fish & chips. But as it was Sunday and I had gone specifically for a roast dinner I was disappointed with the meat.

Very disappointed, have been before and Sunday lunch was amazing, not this time. Beef too tough to cut , roasters dry, hard and waxy vegetables tasteless and soggy, watery gravy, great Yorkshire , cauliflower cheese tasted sour. Waste of money.

This was our first visit to the Dolphin for a Sunday Lunch. My overall feeling was that the establishment was not geared up for providing food at lunchtime. Although we booked, there was confusion from all but one of the bar staff about where we were sitting. The beef in the roast dinners was very tough and the yorkshire puddings had a large amount of oil in them. A disappointing visit

Was greeted at bar. I had a table booking. I requested a corner table of which I received thankfully. Ordered a steak. It was tender and cooked to perfection. Came with chunky chips which were nice and fresh and hot, along with tomato and side salad. Everything was delicious. I paired it with a nice glass of Sauvignon blanc. I would return again. Nice dimmed lighting which made it a pleasant cosy evening.

Very disappointing roast We were really disappointed with our roast today. Firstly, the pork was dry and the Yorkshire pudding was soggy. We were also served just one carrot and one parsnip, which looked as though they had been sitting on the side for some time. Our sitting was at 2pm, so it certainly wasn’t the end of the day. The biggest disappointment for me, though, was the gravy. We specifically asked for extra gravy, but what we were given appeared to be gravy made from granules rather than the red wine gravy advertised on the menu. In my opinion, a good gravy is a huge part of what makes a roast dinner, and this was very ordinary. The cauliflower cheese was the only part of the meal that we genuinely enjoyed. It’s just so disheartening to pay a decent amount of money for a roast dinner and not feel that you’ve been served a quality plate of food. We expected much better and, unfortunately, we won’t be returning.

There were 4 of us dining ahead of an event in the Cathedral opposite. Booking online was simple. We thoroughly enjoyed all our meals. Service was friendly & professional. We look forward to returning soon.
