The Cricketers Warfield
Had one of the best club sandwiches ever. It was so filling and tasty.
First time I’ve been back to The Cricketers for a while. Nicely laid out and table ready as booked. Service was good but slow..... we had two 7 year old with us and waiting more than 40 minutes for food was a tad too long. Have to say once it did arrive the food was very good! Service was polite and no problems with our lunch aside from slowness. The rugby was showing at the bar so a bit noisier than normal but wasn’t a problem at all.
Prompt service, ambience and great food, what more could you ask for?
What food we had was very nice, although we only had an open sandwich
We had intermittent service. We had to catch people’s attention to order things. Our starters were great but then we had to wait ages for our mains and 2 weren’t very good. The venison Pasta seemed like it had been under a heat lamp for a while as all dried out. The roast chicken wasn’t very flavoursome, the veg was very hard. Garvey watery and roast potatoes not that crispy.
We have been to The Cricketers many times and always had good service and good food that's fairly priced. Recommend to anyone....
Lovely location and great food we eat regularly here
Very friendly and helpful service, excellent food. Lovely setting. Our friends were very impressed
The only thing we didn't like were 3 males having a punch up in the car park at we walked in.
Otherwise a lovely happy and tasty experience!
Service was bad considering there were only a few tables dining when we arrived. I had to go and ask one of the waiters for service. No drinks menu at the table and the food was average. Camembert starter is hugely overpriced (£14), only £1 cheaper than the burger (with chips) on the menu! Also sourdough is advertised but it was served with French stick. Blue cheese croquettes were very small and were more like balls of deep fried cheese. Nice ambience but very disappointing otherwise.
Good food, client enjoyed it as did we. Would recommend.
We waited 1 and half hours for our food. We were squished a small table so much so my granddaughter was in her car seat on the floor with people walking past with hot food, we asked to be moved and no help was offered. One of our party asked for extra roast potatoes with his meal and received 1 extra and was charged £1 for this. A £15 service charge was added to the bill, which in hindsight I wish we had not paid as we did not receive good service. We had a table of 15 near us who were very noisy, we couldn’t hear ourselves speak. All in all it was not a pleasurable lunch.
Enjoyed an excellent Sunday Lunch with good service. It’s our first time, but we will be back
We were disappointed in waiting 1 hour 15mins for our main course. I’d told them it was my birthday lunch and we had two children with us but the waitress put one starter through and we waited and waited until we were fed up. We had to ask 3 times when when our food would arrive to be told as we’d ordered one garlic bread for my son, the kitchen then delayed everyone’s main. Who takes an hour and 15 mins to eat half a sliced baguette? This is not acceptable as the waitress should have informed the kitchen OR us to advise this would happen, especially as we’d initially asked to have the starter alongside the mains at the same time. Poor service and attention to customer.
However, they were very attentive to the table next to us who they clearly knew and served them a good 40mins before us despite the fact they’d arrived 15mins after us.
Charming establishment. On a wild winters day it was welcoming. Good service and an excellent roast lunch.
Excellent Sunday Roast with generous portions. You’ll need to order a side of parsnips though, which aren’t included. Great food and excellent service 😃
Poor service , took 40 minutes for order to arrive even though the restaurant was not busy. Ordered the pork Sunday lunch which comprised of a small piece of fat, appreciate that it's pork belly but hardly any meat . Shame because we like this place and visit quite regularly.
Brilliant as per norm x
Good as always
Very busy and lively, the staff coped well and were attentive and pleasant. Food was very good with a good choice of ales, shame I was on dry Jan. Happy to recommend to friends and family.
Was very popular being a Sunday lunchtime , service was very slow because of this but food was good. Pasta could have been a lot hotter but it does get cold quickly anyway. Was quite noisy but it was busy so what can you expect. Wouldn’t recommend for a romantic Sunday lunch but suited our family group of 8.
This is a very nice pub. The ambience is very pleasant and I would always recommend it for a couple of drinks. But the service at dinner was extremely slow. When we chose our dishes we were told 3 of our choices where no longer available, surely they should have told us when they gave us the menus. The food was ok but nothing exceptional, and a bit overpriced. No-one asked us if food was ok. We had to ask twice for the bill and still waited long time for it. Will not go again for dinner.
Sadly it's Christmas, so talking to each other involves shouting, as every table is doing the same. Would be best if large tables were all grouped together
The only improvement would be that the server had too many tables to take care of leaving us looking to get drinks etc
Loved it. Food, wine, service and ambience were all great
Nice pub/restaurant in a good location. Food was lovely, staff were lovely, would happily return, they looked after our daughter on her birthday. Very good.
A most enjoyable lunch. Food was excellent. Will return

Restaurant was very quiet at first. There was only a few tables in the restaurant.
Mains and dessert took some time to come out. (about 45 minutes - 1 hour from ordering mains and about 45 mins from mains to desserts)
- One of the mains (fish of the day) plates was a very small portion and looked like a starter next to the other plate of the same dish.
- When the dessert came out for one of the covers, it was wrong. So this had to go back and be changed. -- Coffees were ordered instead of desserts for some of our group and they were delivered almost immediately after placing the order.
Table wasn't fully cleared after mains and we had to ask a waiter to clear the last plate after the 3rd time he walked past. Also after dessert, only half the table to was cleared and we had to go to the bar to ask for the bill.
This was a evening meal for work and didn't want to make a fuss in front of our foreign guests.
I would recommend the Cricketers as the quality of food is good and enjoyable. I will go back again for a second meal but if I experience the same sort of service I would be hesitant to return.
We had a great time last Sunday. The food was delicous. The atmosphere was very festive and friendly. We had a great time. The only small negative is that we waited for over an hour for our food, but thats ok as we had mulled wine to keep us going !
From the moment we walked in we felt very welcome the guys serving us where very friendly and attentive. The food was great just what we needed lovely 3 meat roast starters and dessert where just as nice a great experience from start to finish will be back very soon
I have eaten here twice now and although the service was better this time it is still a bit slow. I had a burger which I found quite hard going as the meat was very well cooked. The staff are polite and the establishment was clean enough.
Beautiful pub, great staff, friendly service. Lovely hot fire place. We enjoyed our family lunch so much!
Excellent attentive service. Good food and lively atmosphere. Would recommend
Very nice food and atmosphere! I have a few allergies and the waiters were really lovely and friendly sorting out what I could eat! Thanks to the chefs too!
A lovely place for a pub meal with an interesting menu. A bit slow on service which is quite important when you have small children.
Maybe because it was Sunday I didn’t have a great experience but I won’t be returning any time soon. Had a table booked but that doesn’t mean anything. Still had to wait 20 mins to get a table. Then we wasn’t even spoken to for 15 mins untill we got a waiter to take our order. Food was ok nothing to shout about. Pub is in a nice area and we did get sat next to a boiling hot fire it wasn’t great.
Excellent food, good service.. nice atmosphere , would certainly return!
Very enjoyable food and we were served by the lovely Yvonne who was very friendly and gave great service.
The food was very good, as was the service. We were by a door where people went outside to smoke and it was a little cold each time someone went outside.
Other than that, no complaints. We would go back again.
Excellent food and great service would thoroughly recommend.
