Food was good and the service was very good. Patrons with older gift cards need to know to have the waiter convert them to a new card before you try to order on their terrible phone ordering system. The waiter can take your order faster than telling you about how it works and then dealing with its issues. "Contactless service" only means the restaurant has to hire fewer employees as regular service is provided at most all other places.
I really don’t like the online ordering. I think there is a socially distanced way to order and not have to pay and order through an app. Every other restaurant has found a way to do it. I rather tip 20% than have a 20% service fee and no individual server.
Prices are too expensive
The food on the menu we wanted to order was not available. It was told to us that only a certain amount is cooked per day so we had to order something we really didn't want. Also the prepay system didn't work so after about 20 minutes the server entered my payment information manually.
I am all for supporting small businesses and even leaving good, well deserved tips but:
*We had to order using our phone - not only look at the menu that way but also ORDER this way. Therefore we did not speak with a server.
*We had an AUTOMATIC 20% tip added on. This is not a choice. This is the new thing they are doing with EVERY customer and item ordered....so our 14.00 appetizer that we ordered by ourselves was $17 .00 and we had to pay and then get our phones out and reorder drinks. Then reorder salads, then reorder dinner.
We will NOT be going back till they can get their act back together.
My husband son and I were at the Boathouse for a family celebration. While the taste of the majority of the food was great, the shell pieces in the Rockefeller oysters was enough to put my son off oysters for life. The waiter responded very well to this...and the experience will save us a fortune in the future 😉.
The Shrimp and grits was very good. The Oysters Rockefeller were supperb. Excellent service.
Your computerized pay as you go ordering system is not user friendly and is a pain in the butt. Quality of food was very good but your pricing for the amount you receive is terrible. I received 5 scallops for $28 which is ridiculous.
The outside patio area is perfect, especially now during social distancing. Great view! Heaters in case you need them.
Confusion on the limited menu, was entertaining friends I voted to leave and give something else a try but was voted down. Had to wait for our table to be cleaned after having NYE reservation for 3 weeks and not busy. You aren’t interested in hearing who’s better out better but this wasn’t a good look on this particular night. The food I did eat was good but not sure I would give another try. Was the chef hung on filet and lobster tail(worst I’ve ever had) I have no doubt you will bounce back by Valentine’s but it won’t be by my family. Best of luck
We went to the Boathouse at Sunday Park for New Years Eve and we had a great time. Social Distancing was followed to the tea. Our dinners were outstanding and the service was excellent. It was surprising how quickly we were served and we weren’t rushed at all. The amuse bouche was just the perfect start. The lobster bisque had a decent amount of lobster and was very good. I had the stuffed mushrooms and my friend had the oysters both were delicious. We both ordered the surf and turf and our steaks were cooked perfectly, the lobster was delicious. We both had the red velvet cheesecake, out of this world. Needless to say we really enjoyed ourselves and I can’t say it enough our dinners were outstandingly great! I’ve been to the Boathouse several times this year and have always had a great dinner and a great time. You can be sure that we will be visiting several times in 2021. Our compliments to the chef, EXCELLENT! Thanks so much.
The food is always
Wonderful meal and service
Great food, great service, welcoming and accommodating staff
Very welcoming and loved all the Christmas decorations. Even thou we had to order online it was still a great experience. The food was awesome
The ordering system all on line needs work. I understand the need for placing the order, but having to pay after every course was cumbersome. Also adding a 20% tip from the very beginning on any size table was too high. 20% should be in the higher side not average.
They are not utilizing their wait staff and each order you have to place through your phone. And they add a 20% gratuity to each order. I have been to plenty of restaurants that are now back to using their wait staff, We all felt like that they are continuing this because they know they are making more money this way. We won’t be back for quite a while!!
I took my husband here for his birthday. It was our first time here. It was not at all the experience we were expecting. They are doing contactless ordering with a required 20% service fee. We like to put our phones away at dinner and this system made us have to constantly be using a phone to place our own orders. And a required service fee when you’re doing most of the work felt ridiculous. The food was pricey and nothing special. Two cocktails cost us $48 with all the fees. Short ribs were so charred they tasted burnt. Couldn’t really provide feedback since you barely have a server. Just thoroughly underwhelmed. So disappointing since it was a special occasion. We should have just left after drinks and apps.
Hello, I am sorry that the contactless ordering was such an unpleasant surprise on your recent visit. We are using it to encourage social distancing, as recommended as a best practice in current state guidelines. The service fee helps guarantee a professional wage to our staff, regardless of which section or shift they work. It is up to us to make this work for our guests, and I apologize that didn't happen for you. Please know we will use this feedback to improve where possible in the future.
The ordering was a little extreme with using mobile where disposable paper menus would have sufficed. Overall an excellent experience and we will go back.
My friend and I had dinner outside since we are still uncomfortable with indoor dining due to COVID. The staff turned the heaters on and brought us blankets! The food, drinks and service were all outstanding! We will be back :)
Great views of the lake. Food is average, prices are high.
Covid times, I understand the need for paperless menu, I’m fine with ordering online. But if I’m spending the kind of money necessary to spend at this place, I expect my appetizer, entree & dessert to come out at the appropriate time, not all at once like I experienced. Poor service
The service is great. I appreciate the heated patio they have set up which allows for safe restaurant dining while social distancing.
I am disappointed with the new order process. The entire order is placed and paid for before even the first drink is provided. If you want anything else you have to put in a separate order and have a separate charge added to your account. I work in banking and I wonder if they realize two or more charges from the same vendor in a short span of time can actually cause your card to become disabled for potential fraud. So ordering another drink can become a greater issue. Not to mention all your food is put in at the same time. We ordered a soup, two appetizers, and our meals. My companion was still on their soup when the appetizers came, and not even five minutes the food was dropped. There was no pace to the meal. Everything pretty much arrived at the same time. I don't know about anyone else, but I would like to get through at least half of my appetizer before my food appears. Also with all these items there at once the dishes piled up. Of course when you pay in advance you are also asked to leave the tip before you even receive service. I left a $18 tip just to have to eventually ask the server to remove the additional dishes that had been piled up for some time. She asked me to hold on, and still almost walked back past us AGAIN without taking them. Needless to say not $18 service. Food was amazing as always, but not happy with the pre-payment nor the service. for over a $100 for one meal I would have expected A LOT better
