    Whenever we want to have a night out that that is guaranteed to have a great atmosphere and outstanding food, we go to The Boathouse. The staff are always professional and wonderful, the food is never disappointing and is always perfect, and it's the perfect place to unwind and have a romantic date in one of their very nice booths. This is our favorite place to go in Virginia!

    The boathouse at city point has always been my favorite of the boathouse restaurants so there was no hesitation when choosing the place to treat some special neighbors to to a start of the Christmas season. The food, as usual was great, the staff were delightful and the friends could not have been more pleased. The point is restaurants do not come better than City Point.

    The waitress we had was very attentive considering she had a very large table and a couple of other smaller tables. She was very helpful and patient answering our questions as 2 elder adults. The food itself was okay but pretty expensive. I had a Caesar Salad w/o the anchovies and Creme Brulee. The other order was the oyster appetizer and Apple Crisp with ice cream. I wouldn't say either meal was anything "over the top", just mediocre. The salad and appetizer were not large by any means. However, either of the desserts could have been shared. We only had water in a small juice class to drink. I purposely didn't order anything else on the menu because there was no entree, handheld, or side that met my dietary restrictions. Our checks were definitely excessive, each totaled almost $30.00. We would have tipped the waitress the 20% but it appeared by charging us a 20% service fee it increased the amount of tax we were charged. We won't return.

    We were a party of 5 and had to wait 30 minutes past our reservation time. We still made the best of it. The food was good but they ran out of dark turkey. We had to keep asking the waiter to close the door to the outside. It made us and our food cold quickly. I definitely say it was worth it and would recommend doing Thanksgiving there.

    We had 4 p.m. reservations Thanksgiving Day The Boathouse in Hopewell. Will not do that again. Upon arrival, there were at least 20 + people in the entry area waiting to be seated (with reservations), with more waiting in the bar area. So, of course, there was nowhere to sit or srand and wait without being in the way. We were informed that they were running behind, but we had been checked in and would be seated as soon as possible. After about 20 mins, we were seated at a table for 4. I had called several days prior to add 1 person to our reservation for 2 and was told no because we would be seated at a table for 2 and there was no room for a 3rd chair. A server came by to welcome us and ask thar we not go to the buffet before the "captain" came to check us in. Another server came a few minutes later with water and said we could go to the buffet. There were so many people up and moving around it was a bit overwhelming. We were seated right next to where the line for turkey formed, and it was consistently long. It was a while before the "captain" came to the table. She took our drink order and sent us to the buffet. The food was good but had to be replaced frequently due to the number of guests. The restaurant then ran out of turkey. They brought out 1 little turkey breast that was being carved so thin... Also had trouble with keeping deserts replenished. It was not a pleasant dining experience which is unlike The Boathouse. I've had Mothet's Day and Easter brunches at The Boathouse in Brandernill and at the one in Hopewell. I've had lunch and dinner there many times. Not sure what happened, but will think twice about going again on a holiday.

    I waited to the last minute to make a reservation and The Boathouse fortunately had availability left. The location is simply spectacular. I remember when it was The Navigator’s Den. They have done a lovely job of renovating the space. The buffet was delicious. I like that they stayed true to traditional Thanksgiving flavors. The shrimp and grits really stood out. Do good!! Our server Kayla was an absolute delight. She has warm and charming demeanor. Unless something changes we plan on going back next year!!

    Always a treat to have Thanksgiving lunch at the Boathouse, City Point! Absolutely superb in every way. Our waitress was phenomenal and so pleasant! I think her name was Kayla.

    It’s always a treat here. The food is great, the atmosphere is pleasant, the surroundings are beautiful (inside and out), and the staff is efficient and so friendly. Kaila is an excellent manager and it’s obvious that the staff respect her. Aiden and Jeremy are simply awesome.

    Great service and wait staff, food was good and timely, value and view made it a great day to be there! Down the hill towards the water, there needs to be a fire pit for drinks, cigars, and even better views!

    Saturday 5:30pm reservations Food was excellent. Had the 3 course meal..New England clam chowder, tons of clams great flavor. Salmon, tasty on bed of risotto, vegs. Creme brulee, yum. service great. Out of 3 Boathouses, this is my favorite. Came with 2 other friends. Their food was also delicious.

    STAY AWAY Appetizer was calamari. More tentacles than rings. Sent back. After an 1.5 hour wait for entree (crab cakes and salmon) to no avail. Left the restaurant. They should seat people based upon service time. We made reservations for 5:15. Left a 7PM. The owners need to get on the ball. Have gone there before, but will never go back.

    The service was extremely slow at the hopewell location asked for a refill of water several times and never received it. I don’t understand the reason for a 20% service charge being included in the bill. Overall, we may try another location

    We went for lunch and enjoyed the beautiful weather and fantastic view on the deck. Had the oysters Rockefeller, peel and eat shrimp and shrimp tacos. Everything was delicious!

    Our server did the best he could but it appeared there were only two servers for the entire restaurant. Our salads were swimming in balsamic vinaigrette which made them very difficult to enjoy. We asked multiple times for our hush puppies but they were not served until after we had boxed up our leftovers. The dessert was the best part of the evening. We were in the restaurant over two hours, the majority of the time waiting for food to be delivered to two people.

    First time attending this for our anniversary and it was a very peaceful and detail oriented restaurant. Staff is very respectful and check up on you throughout your meal without hovering. Will come back. Definitely recommend!!

    First time visiting The Boathouse. Our visit was excellent. The food was delicious, perfectly cooked. There was a little bit of a wait time with our meal to come out, however we didn’t mind. Our server was terrific. We never felt rushed with her. Polite, respectful, patient. We hope to have her again in returning to The Boathouse. Wonderful

    Birthday dinner for mom’s 76th... First time dining at this location…. $9 and $10 for kids meal + $4.50 for a kids drink. After tax and service charge, almost $60 just for three kids to eat. The most expensive kids meals I have ever seen. We did not order an appetizer because we usually have leftovers when going out. I should have ordered one as the dinner entrees were too small. I had the seared swordfish steak. The fish was good but the vegetables etc it was sitting on were cold and partially burnt. Needless to say, I left hungry. My mom ordered the Peach & Bourbon Glazed Salmon and said what I was thinking when I received my plate, “where’s the rest of my food”. The birthday desert was a small chocolate chip cookie and a cup of ice cream. Based on the description from the server, I expected a Pizookie like BJs Brewhouse serves, not what appeared to be a pre-portioned toll house cookie from your grocery store refrigerator. I have no problem with automatic service charges and gratuities but if you are charging a 20% service charge, provide service worthy of that. The service provided definitely did not warrant a 20% service charge and why is the service charge is being taxed??!! Our billed items were read aloud from a gadget, definitely did not need the server announcing the bill total to the table and surrounding diners.

    I tried the boathouse margarita, the waitress did tell me that it was kind of bitter but normally I would have the top shelf margarita with Petrone so I got the boathouse and I wasn’t satisfied with. It was like lemon juice straight out the bottle and normally they would take the drink back and say well we’ll change it for you or something so she took it back to the bar and they didn’t mix it with some clear or something it was it was a lot better, but I would have love to change my drink to sex on the beach instead of what I had but I excepted it and drank it and it was my fault for trying that one and for the waitress to come back and say what I told you that’s why I tell my customers that.  I would really have had the option to switch my drink since I only took a sip out of it, and it was a of satisfactory to me but I drink the drink and chalked it up to experience, but I won’t order that again otherwise everything was outstanding. Thank you.
