We cane for afternoon tea on Xmas eve. Processed ham, processed cheese slice and pickle and egg mayonnaise. This was followed by a selection of ‘iceland’ style frozen cakes. NO tea offered and had to ask. No tea selection like you usually get either. Opened crackers on the window ledge, a cane with a big burnt hole in the curtain from previous guests. Carpet under table covered with debris from a previous party. £15 a head for something we cld have bought from boots for £3. I am absolutely disgusted. This was a family get together that we have done for 7 years running. Never again! You have finally stopped us for good. Last year was bad but you made up for it when you asked us back for a complimentary afternoon tea. That is why we rebooked. This year was worse. Staff reasoning was also very bad. The excuses from management were appalling. I will be emailing in person seperately in response. This is just the start. How can anyone get such a simple meal so wrong. We will Not be returning or recommending you any more

We visited for afternoon tea and were impressed with the quality, freshness and choice of sandwiches, scones and cakes. Service was slow but that suited us as we were able to absorb the surroundings. Decor is good. Unfortunately, there was little in the way of atmosphere as there were very few other diners in the restaurant, however, we do intend going for dinner soon.

The food was amazing, but was very dark, and it's felt like it was a party bar rather than a restaurant.

food delicious - the chicken was especially succulent - portions were generous (couldn't manage to fit all the brownie in no matter how I tried!) - staff were friendly, attentive and helpful - had a really lovely evening - thank you

Lovely food. Just a couple of pointers. We had the scallops which were perfectly cooked but it was a shame to waste the sauce a little bit of bread to mop up would have been great. Had the hanging kebab which was lovely however a little hard to eat - a side plate would have been handy. Other than that fantastic. Oh a mint with the bill would be good.

Arrived to an empty restaurant (not encouraging) and was seated relatively quickly. As there were no other customers (that we could see) we had a lot of attention from our waiter which was good. Main course was ok, nothing too special, we had the gnocchi and a chicken burger. However, the real problem was the dessert. I ordered a triple chocolate cookie with 3 scoops of ice cream. What arrived was a piece of shortbread with chocolate buttons thrown on the side of the plate with the wrong flavours of ice cream that we had ordered. Complained and we got the right flavoured ice cream second time round, at least the waiter was apologetic! Drinks were good, would come back again for a drink but not for food. Overpriced for something so average.

The food was excellent and the atmosphere was good. On the other hand there were a multitude of mistakes made by the staff. The first couple we found somewhat amusing but by the 5th it had started to become a bit tiresome. If they worked on it i'd consider going back but at the moment I probably wouldn't.

I would not recommend eating here. Waited over 40 minutes for our starter which never arrived. When they brought our main meal I asked where our starters were, they looked a little confused and within seconds our starter arrived (looked fresh out of a tin) on a dirty plate. I pointed this to the waitress wiped the plate but then put the dirty serviette on the table in front of my husband and then the dirty plate back on top. I may have understood if the place was busy but there were only six other people in the restaurant at the time!
