   Terra was very busy and noisy at the start of our meal, but clears out in a herd departure for 7:30 theater curtains. The busyness did not prevent the hard working staff from doing a great job. They are impressive to watch. Our food was perfectly prepared and server Ryan was appropriately attentive. Tip: the Aperol Strawberry Shortcake is delicious enough to make you come back a second night!

   Terra has an urban vibe and was nicely appointed. However, our $12 salad (supposedly with birdseed) had a few sprinkles of seeds and was just baby greens w/dressing. Our $33 pork loin chops had a lot of fat on them. So we were not impressed with what we ordered.

    A slightly early Mother's Day brunch was pleasant. The very good saltimbocca chicken sandwich was a good split entrée The side potatoes were delicious and the a la carte heirloom tomato salad was very good. We topped it off with a small scoop of homemade peaches and cream ice cream. The restaurant was a little bit clattery even though it wasn't completely full yet, but our service was timely and gracious.

    The most important part of a restaurant to me is a food and the food was outstanding hence the five-star review. Even got to talk to the head chef after the meal which was kind of fun :-) The atmosphere was nice but it is kind of loud. The service was okay but not amazing. We were there for the most busy time of the day and our waiter had several big tables so we were not his priority. Would have been nice if he could have gotten to us sooner just to take our drink order when they sit down. Will definitely go back though because the food was just outstanding.

    Restaurant is right in front of DCPA and so caters to theater crowd. They know when they will get a surge but yet they could not accommodate hungry theater goers before a show. Got there 1.5 hours before performance and 15 min before the show we still had not gotten our food. Same with other table next to us. Server shrugged it off saying “yeah we’re busy.” I would not go here before a show .

    We went here before going to a show at the DCPA, and we had reservations 1.5 hours before we wanted to leave the restaurant and we got our food 5 minutes before we wanted to leave. The wait staff was I very rude. I also ordered a drink and an entrée, and with both of these, it took the waiter a long time to come back and tell me that they were out of the ingredients to make these.

    Drinks were wonderful as was the service. I was told the salmon would come as medium rare, however, it was overcooked. It was very loud so that we could hardly hear each other even though we were sitting right next to each other.

    We ate here prior to a performance and the food was delicious, service was great and they were very conscious of making sure we weren't delayed. The salads and pasta were the best and it was probably the best gluten free pasta I've ever had - tasted like homemade pasta. The non-gluten free pasta was great too, plus they had great gluten free dessert other than sorbet.

    It was so expensive for really small portions. I expected a more upscale experience for the cost. The service was excellent, but we will never go again because of the price.

    The kitchen is slow, after waiting for 45 minutes for the meal, we told the waiter that we had a production to go to at 730 curtain and that we must depart at 720. The food came at 655, we wolfed it down, $33. For 2 pork loins and a half of a small onion is a lot to pay for that meal, sides are extra $12-15 more and the same for a vegetable.     Food reasonably good. Our server was inattentive, not catching or clarifying that one person wanted a nonalcoholic beverage, then failing to bring one cocktail which was ordered. When one member of our party complained that her cocktail tasted bad,server did not offer to replace it, though when she pressed the matter, the cocktail was replaced and the replacement was comped. It would have been better to offer a replacement when she first complained. We ordered an order of focaccia for the table - 3 pieces for 4 people. We should have been alerted to this at the outset. Staff who helped serve, refill water etc. we're better. We will not hurry back.

    We have dined at Terra a number of times previously, and thought last night was especially noisy. We discussed it, and couldn't quite put our finger on the reason until my husband said "listen. Listen to the level of the music; dinners are having to raise their voices to talk over the music". We have dined at Tara when every table was occupied and it was still pleasantly quiet. Mostly, I missed having an intelligible chat with the waitress about the menu, and the food preparation. If diners want music, they always have the Stout Street Social. Of course, we will be back, but hope to enjoy a quieter evening. Rebecca McAlister

    The food and flavors were excellent. The birthday treat was special, and the service was considerate and unintrusive. I especially appreciated that the music level was at a subdued level in the background - loud enough that it added ambience but quiet enough that you could have intimate conversation. Would definitely recommend!

    This was our second visit to Terra, which we really liked the first time for its food quality and location near the theater. We had a generally good experience - our waiter was very attentive, especially given that we needed to be out in time to go to the theatre. Our main issue was the price. For example, we wanted the house baked rolls, which are $7. We added the Butter Board, so the total was $16. They were out of rolls so we received three small slices of sourdough bread. The butter board was swamped with honey, so we could not really taste any of the salty or savory, but it was very much out of proportion to the small serving of bread. Enough butter for at least double the amount of bread. The wait person didn't respond when I commented on this as they took away most of our butter plate when the bread was gone. We also had the spiced bar seeds, which weren't bad. We shared the spinach salad, that was very nice, very light and subtle. My husband had a pork loin, which he really enjoyed, and I had the fusilli with duck confit. That was also very good. The atmosphere was a bit loud, perhaps they could add some kind of insulation for sound vs. the hard floors. But overall, a good experience, good service. Just won't order the $16 three-slice of bread plus butter board again.
