Welcome to Tempranillo Restaurant, where internationally acclaimed Chef Javier Gonzalez-Bringas, along with his partner and wife Laura, offer a daily menu of drinks, tapas, dinner and lunch. Gonzalez-Bringas, a Madrid Native, combines an old-world style with a new-world flair in his signature cuisine. The name Tempranillo, itself, pays homage to one of Spain's premier grape varieties, and true to its name the restaurant features a selection of over 100 hand-chosen wines. The atmosphere at Tempranillo is notable for its rich colors, dual fireplaces, and community gathering table-all reflecting the equally rich depth of flavors and influences which are at the heart of the restaurant's origins. Tempranillo offers on and off site catering for parties of 10 to 250. We customize all catering menus and formats for each client. On site catering includes lunch parties for 10, dinner parties for 20 at our community table, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres on the patio or in the garden and formal dinners for up to 100 in the dining room. <br />Tempranillo currently caters all of the food for the Spain tent at the Aspen Food and Wine Festival which requires providing food for up to 5,000 people per day.

Tempranillo has a wonderful menu. Love the tapas. We shared fried artichokes, mushrooms, the onion and goat cheese crostini and the meatballs to start. Our entrees included the beet salad, the shrimp and garlic pasta, the lamb, the salmon and sides. Everything was delicious and the service is attentive. A family favorite!

The service was outstanding and the food was very good, but the ambience was not conducive to fine dining. We made our reservation on a weekday ahead of the crowd on purpose, but the background music was already loud. As the restaurant filled up the noise level increased to the point where it was very difficult to carry on a conversation across the table. That's understandable for a bar, but not for pleasant dining. I would recommend coming only in the warmer weather when outside seating is available.

Enjoyed dinner and the service, but we almost slipped and fell on the way in and out of the restaurant because they don’t keep the sidewalk clean in the entryway. It’s a sheet of ice.

The atmosphere was great, as always. May be too loud for some. Service - seemed very short handed but capable. All food was great except for the chocolate mousse. Seemed more like whipped cream mixed with a little milk chocolate and something congealed at the bottom. I would go back but skip dessert.

The food was very good and the service matched. My only complaint is that when the waiter shared the specials he didn't give us prices; we assumed that the tosatada special was about the same price as most ($10-$20), it was nothing special, apples, with onions and mushrooms. However to our surprise after we paid the bill, the tostada was $30, more than most meals on the menu. And Honestly I didn't even like it!

We had an amazing meal. It is so wonderful to have the owner stop at the table throughout the meal to check in. Our food was as good as it always is. The staff was very accommodating with a food allergy (nuts) and checking with the kitchen for safety.

Every trip to Carbondale requires a visit to Tempranillo. We love the food!! This time, the waiter misunderstood and brought all food (appetizer, small plates and entrees at the same time a little bit over an hour after we arrived). It may have been difficulties in the kitchen. But food was outstanding. We will be back.

We had a delightful meal with an excellent wine. We have always had good service at Tempranillo but on this evening our server, Luke, was outstanding. He was attentive but not intrusive and did everything he could to make our evening enjoyable. Our visitor from Sweden was suitably impressed with what we regard as the best restaurant in our area.

Everything about it was awful. Ambiance - all of the red leather chairs are peeling. The place is in need of a major overhaul. Service - no one knew what they were doing. Food and beverage - the meatballs tasted frozen. The olives were swimming in some sort of sauce. The calamari was chewy. The Caesar salad had way too much dressing (even though we asked for light dressing). And after the first mess up on my drink (old fashion), and waiting 10 min for the right one, it was hands down, the worst old fashion I have ever had. It looked and tasted like sweet punch. And the bar manager made it because the bartender didn’t know how. I only had one sip. But no one seemed to notice. Couldn’t wait to leave. Worst dining experience I have had in a long time.
