I REALLY wanted to love this place. In an area full of seafood restaurants, I really wanted some Italian. The menu looked amazing so we drove from Ko Olina to try it. Small, quaint place with a great wine list. Unfortunately, the disappointment started right away. We started with the seafood bruschetta (very good but reminded us more of nachos). I had the Nero di fruitti & my husband had the sea urchin. The good: the focaccia bread was the best I’ve ever had. Extensive (but overpriced) wine list. Nice selection of menu items including some non-pasta dishes. Reasonably sized portions so you didn’t feel stuffed but felt you got your money’s worth. The Nero had decent, but not mind blowing, flavor & sufficient ratio of pasta to seafood. Was good but would try something different next time. The bad: We were seated outside (without being asked our preference) & while they had cover from the street, the noise was a bit much at times. Server was friendly, but didn’t seem to know the menu well (he later admitted he was new). For wine connoisseurs, they use Riedel glasses which is great if they use them properly. My first glass of Pinot Grigio was brought in the correct glass. The second was brought in a Cabernet glass & presented as if it was a bigger glass & bigger pour, but it just changed the taste of the wine. Don’t promote “master sommelier” if you can’t get the glasses right. My husband’s sea urchin pasta was bland & while edible, was extremely disappointing. There was a seafood of some sort mixed into the “pink sauce” (as the server called it) but it could have been anything given the small pieces & lack of presentation. The final negative was we weren’t asked about desert, just brought a huge platter that said Happy Birthday with a very small piece of tiramisu. Since I don’t eat it, hubby did. It would have been nice to have been asked Overall, just disappointing. Not horrible, but definitely not what I expected. Likely wouldn’t go back.

Excellent ingredients used in all dishes (including appetizers). Service was also excellent. Only negative to the outdoor seating is the external noises from loud vehicles (car and motorcycles). However, that is expected from the busy Waikiki environment.

Wonderful family experience. Service was attentive, but not pushy or annoying-awesome! Excellent wait staff. Manager and Chef both checked on our table and asked for feedback. Everyone was kind and friendly. We sat near the kitchen, and it was still quiet and quaint. Love the atmosphere and simple decor. The food was superb, definitely among the best we’ve ever had for Italian/Sicilian cuisine. Will definitely be dining here again! Mahalo to everyone for making our experience an unforgettable one! We will be talking about the squid ink pasta for a long time!

The food is excellent. Grancha pasta is fabulous. Salads big enough to share. Complimentary focaccia is delicious. Waited a while for a refill of my water, but otherwise everything was wonderful.

We went for my wife’s birthday, only place on the island she picked out of thousands. We get there and everything is going great until the food arrives. Her noodles were not done and my veal was to thick and tough to eat. We needed up not even taking it back with us. I took two bites out of my veal steak and she did not even eat. We told the waiter and he apologized but that’s it. They brought out a piece of cake that my wife doesn’t even eat. Common sense would tell you to let her pick? So we left it on the table. $201 for a meal that was not even touched . Waste of time and money.

My wife and I have dined here several times prior to the pandemic; the service was always outstanding. Now, however, the restaurant has new incompetent and unresponsive management! We arrived last night about 5 minutes before our reservation time. There were two empty tables marked reserved and another table where the diners were still eating. We were told the occupied table was to be ours, but we would have to wait for the party to finish their meals. I asked why we could not sit at the empty tables . The manager insisted they were already reserved. But, I insisted we also had a reservation. The manager refused to seat us!! Soon afterwards, another party arrived and they were seated at the empty reserved table. I asked the manager why our table was not reserved for us like the others. The manager had no response. Therefore, you as a diner cannot rely on this restaurant to honor your reservation. Since there are many other restaurants in the area, I would strongly recommend to not dine at Taormina.

Our two meals were the fish and the duck breast. The fish was a very mild fish and it was seasoned and prepared perfectly. The duck breast was prepared correctly but we did not care for the balsamic glaze that was on the plate. Personal preference but we didn’t feel the balsamic glaze went with the duck. Service was very good.

The food at Taormina is excellent. Everything is fresh and the presentation, and taste is outstanding. Our server, Akane, is personable, and serves with excellence. This is our favorite restaurant. Lunch offerings are also great.

The staff here were kind, atmosphere was very nice, but the food was just okay. I had 5 star expectations and the food was 3 maybe 4 stars. If you go in having expectations for something better than a chain but not $$$$, I think you’ll be pleased. The menu is very small so check it before arrival. The bread was delicious.

I ordered the salmon and it was awesome and my friend ordered the mong chong and it was even better, if that's even possible! We stayed the entire evening at the front window table, and our waiter was gracious and very polite and did not try and rush us out. I will definitely return to Taorimina again! PS- and we live here too.

Incredible waiter Gabriel!! Also the staff that assisted our table were wonderful! But what was most outstanding was the food! Beyond our expectations- presentation was beautiful and the entrees were delectable! We will make this a standard for all our trips to Waikiki. A hidden gem for authentic Sicilian style food.
