High-end Peruvian food that will cost you a bit but is worth the price.
Had an amazing night trying the small plates and cocktails!
Food was unique, authentic and delicious. Cocktail program was equally unique
Came here for my birthday. The menu is outstanding with so many good options (friend is pescatarian) and great cocktails. Seafood cebiche was incredible. Our server was attentive and walked us through the complicated menu and made great suggestions. We shared everything so plates came out as ready, tapas style. We mentioned in passing it was my birthday and he brought out a cake and sang, it was very sweet gesture and it was so good. They went above and beyond. Ambiance is dark yet chic, good for date nights. It was moderate noise level, not too bad for how busy they were. I’ll be back!
Excellent food. Exceptional service.
The food here was something very special. The flavors are something you can’t get anywhere in this city. Was very impressed with the Octopus dish and the Red Crab dish. Service was excellent and our server was very knowledgeable about the food. Can’t wait to go back
Sorry, i try not to write negative reviews for restaurants because that’s the hardest job. A complete overpriced disappointment. The only good thing was the service. I’ve had good peruvian food, this was not good.
Great spot for authentic Peruvian food, cebiches are amazing, lomo salteado delicious and cheesecake to die for!
Interesting food and a good vibe. Lots of good Peruvian dishes.
This is one of my favorite restaurants. This time, though, I went on a Sunday night and for the first time ever I was disappointed with my main dish. Ordered the salmon dish which was overcooked (salmon was actually hard /burnt on top and too dry). I never send thimgs back so did not say anything.the appetizers we ordered were all terrific, as always. But for a dinner that was almost $130 per person, this was very disappointing. The one consolation was that noise levels were.less on Sun than on Fri and sat pms (when I usually go)....
Absolutely unbelievably the most delicious tasting dinner from start to finish! Great atmosphere. Great value.
wonderful service, creative menu, incredibly tasty food and beautiful plating! we love tanta!
My first Peruvian meal. Very fresh and testy seafood. Nice service. A bit expensive for the portions, but we had a good time, was worth it.
Tanta is my favorite restaurant in Chicago and one of my top five restaurants in general. The food is brilliant; always fresh, perfectly seasoned, gorgeously presented. Start with a perfect Pisco Sour and then dive into the food menu. The bright acids of the amazing ceviches prep you for the savory richness of the empanadas and larger plates. You can explore a myriad of flavors in small bites or really commit to a complex and hearty Peruvian main dish. Either way, you’ll leave satiated and dreaming of your next trip to Tanta.
The food here is fantastic. Our server was not the greatest, she forgot one of our side dishes and it was brought out as we were finishing our meal, but still the experience was great. Nice wine list and great food.
Thank you so much for making my day extra special! My friends and I were amazed at the food presentation and how tasty everything was in the end! We are definitely coming back soon! :)
Calidad y servicio inferior a lima o santiago.
No vale el alto precio
New Years Eve
Easily my favorite restaurant in the city. The food is phenomenal, as are the drinks.
Came here for New Year’s Eve and it did not disappoint. The food was absolutely incredible and they even passed out party favors and champagne at midnight. Great experience!
My boyfriend and I came here for dinner on New Year’s Eve and everything was outstanding! We had fantastic cocktails and tried almost every category on the menu. We loved the Pulpo and the Lomo Saltado! Definitely would go back again!
Attended for NYE dinner. We did not get seated at our reserved time but that is to be expected on NY. Wait staff was attentive, food was delicious. Shared plates for the table & our waiter explained everything well.
Great food and service. Thanks atmosphere was perfect, allowing for my wife and I to enjoy conversation with one another
I went to Tanta for a date and everything was perfect! Loved the restaurant, loved the service, loved the drinks, I’ll definitely go back for some yummy food!!
Amazing! Incredible value- we had several plates of food and 2 cocktails for less than $130. The nigiri and the ceviches are MUST HAVE’s if you love seafood. Also for cocktails- el chingon is amazing!! The ice is made with chile that makes the drink spicier as you go.
The food is a very interesting hybrid, a difference I always am looking for. Especially enjoyed the octopus. For me, the moderate heat somewhat diminishes my pleasure of the experience. But for those who value spice, this is a place to go. I personally prefer less hustle and bustle and less noise. But that's hard to find.
Every single item was delicious. The service was excellent. I look forward to coming here again and again!
5th visit. Always excellent ceviche and fried whole fluke. Professional service from Vanessa. Recommended!
Phenomenal. I went to the original in Peru. The Chicago one holds up to that. The flavors were phenomenal. The service was excellent. We will definitely be back.
Great Dining Experience, Food was excellent however a tad bit salty and drinks were amazing. Would definitely recommend.
I went in without much experience with Peruvian food but looking forward to trying a few different things on the menu. We started off with some drinks recommended by the waiter which were quite good. They have a great selection of authentic cocktails and beer which definitely appeals to me. We then got 3 different dishes on the menu: a causita, ceviche sampler, and the veal heart skewers. All of the dishes were prepared well and were tasty.
We stopped for an early dinner before theater. Because we had been to Peru, we were looking forward to some of the delicacies we had enjoyed there (although, we did not expect the food to be the same as it was in Peru). From the Pisco sours to the ceviche and wonderful dessert, we were delighted. It felt like we were back in Peru. The small plate options gave us a chance to sample many dishes, and we enjoyed them all. Waitstaff was very helpful and friendly. There was a problem with the credit card machine, which delayed seating and payment, but I assume that was an isolated issue and not a regular occurrence. All in all, great spot, great people, great food, and a convenient cab ride from the theaters, and a real treat.
The only thing that was sad is one cocktail pre mixed with gin I would have liked better than vodka but my mezcal was on point
Loved the ceviches and tiraditos.
Whole fried fish was overly breaded and sauce was too sweet.
Super friendly service.
The shine has faded at Tanta. Service was generally lackluster. Plates cleared too quickly. Food quite good but is overpriced. Can easily get better for less. Would only return in Summer for the rooftop.
Fresh tasteful food. A nice change from the same-o same-o
We love this restaurant. The food is delicious. Can’t wait to go again.
Our meal was amazing. We started with a drink and appetizer at the bar. The ceviche was heavenly! The food was outstanding in everyday --- delicious and beautifully presented. The service was excellent. The waiter was helpful and had the art and skill of service down, which we really appreciate. He kept an eye on us, checked in ---- but not too much. Great place! Can't wait to go back on a next trip to Chicago. Highly recommend!
We ate at Tanta on the Sunday before Christmas. It was relatively busy, but not packed. It had a nice ambiance- colorful and vibrant.
The staff was warm and welcoming and I appreciated the high level of service. Food came out relatively quickly and drink orders were quick as well.
Many of the dishes were small plates/ tapas- which I like. It was fun to try several dishes. I particularly liked the beef empanada.
My friends loved the rolls- a combination of Peruvian and Japanese flavors.
