    The Swan, Pangbourne - Sunday Lunch Review The Swan proved to be an excellent choice for a Sunday lunch meet-up with a friend. We were travelling from opposite directions, myself from St Albans and my friend from Corsham, and an AI recommendation suggested The Swan as an ideal halfway point. At roughly an hour's drive for each of us, its location on the banks of the River Thames provided a perfect setting for a relaxed afternoon. Parking at the pub is a little limited, particularly at busy times, but the Pangbourne Station car park is conveniently located directly opposite and offers a practical alternative. One small point for improvement is that OpenTable appears to need updating. My reservation was shown as being in the "Sports Screening Area", but on arrival I was informed that the televisions had been removed, and that sports screenings only took place during last summer's FIFA World Cup. Updating the listing would help avoid any confusion for future visitors. Being a Sunday, the choice was easy: roast beef for the main course, cooked exactly as I like it, followed by sticky toffee pudding, one of my all-time favourite desserts. Both were excellent. The service was equally impressive, with attentive and personable staff throughout. A particularly nice touch was that our server remembered my dessert choice from a passing comment I'd made while ordering the main course. The Swan is certainly somewhere we'll return to. Its central location also makes it a convenient meeting point for friends travelling from Winchester and Aylesbury, so next time we'll likely gather a larger group. To round off the visit, the riverside location offers some lovely walking opportunities along the Thames, making it an ideal place to linger after lunch. Overall: Good food, attentive service, a beautiful riverside setting, and a genuinely convenient meeting point for friends travelling from different parts of the South of England. Highly recommended for a relaxed Sunday lunch.

    Booked for birthday meal for 6 people, ( 2 children), requested a table in the conservatory, which was lovely overlooking the river. A good menu including a kids menu. Everyone very happy with their food choices, apart from no brownies for pud that day which was a big disappointment for one of the children. Service was excellent. Service charge is automatically added to bill so watch you don't pay twice which we mistakenly did on one visit!

    This is an old riverside pub which has seen a few changes in the 60-odd years since I first visited it. It is popular, obviously well run and well refurbished after its recent flooding. It is comfortable, clean and welcoming with cheerful staff greeting you. If you don't have a dog ask for the glazed area overlooking the river; or sit outside if the weather is fine. The food is excellent on the tongue and on the wallet. The menu is varied with some good choices. The chicken schnitzel was the popular choice for our party and our different selection of starters all met with approval. The food is well prepared with good attention to dressings and presentation and the helpings are generous. I would strongly recommend dining here for the overall service, pleasant ambience and reliably good food.

    Swan Pangbourne is a lovely restaurant. We had a long lunch recently with my cousin, his partner and daughter. The food is really good. The service was equally good. Simon and her friend ( forgot her name ) were so warm and pleasant. Keep up the good work.

    Very friendly welcome and excellent customer service throughout our visit. We were able to sit by the river and the ambience was just perfect. The meal was serviced in a timely manor and was hot and tasty. All of the staff were dressed smartly and gave service with a smile.

    Food nice and hot but fish and chips disappointing. Chips and accompaniments were fine but the fish was far too small, overcooked to the point of being dried out and of poor quality.

    Wonderful evening. Great service, lovely atmosphere with live a acoustic music. The menu is great and makes choosing very difficult, but it was absolutely delicious and great portions. Beware, the car park is small and tricky to park in, so suggest parking at the railway station.

    The Sunday roast beef was fine and edible but the gravy was very gloopy, flavorless and floury, the Yorkshire was very dry and hard, the veg were all very similar/roasted/buttery and no fresh greens. It was a bit disappointing really. And very expensive. Also the woman on the bar was pretty rude and blunt about the strict rules re no Sunday lunches unless you’d booked a table. Was a bit weird.
