   Food was pretty mid aside from the biscuits which were delicious. Pit Beef sandwich was seasoned well but very dry. The house old fashioned tasted good but using small ice cubes in an old fashioned felt cheap for a $17 cocktail IMO. Maybe dinner is better but I’d only go if you’re craving their baked goods.

   I love St Anselm and have dined there often . On the plus side—the service is excellent, but serving cocktails in a thimble size glass is not classy. Our server was nice enough to upgrade second round of Cosmopolitans to a slightly larger glass. But seriously, a cosmo should be served in a real martini glass. Period. And for the prices charged, the steaks should be flavorful and tender. Mine was neither. There are many other DC restaurants that serve a superior steak. I’ll be back for the ice cream cake but not rushing next visit.

   Great drinks and food came out fast, but we were seated in an overflow room with folding chairs that weren’t comfortable. It was very intimate with wedding party. It should be reserved for private parties. No atmosphere of the restaurant.

   The food and the service were both top tier. My two criticisms are: 1) the outdoor chairs are very uncomfortable; and 2) I ordered an expensive glass of cabernet and received and the it was a stingy pour (well below the wide midsection of the glass). That left a negative impression.

   Service was off and slow, steak was undercooked. After being there 5+ you grow to expect a certain consistency and they didn’t meet it that time. Every other time I’ve been there it’s been 5 stars.

   I made an appointment through opentable, nice service; however, the seating available online was limited to just outside seating, but upon arrival there were several tables open and clearing. They sat us as the chef’s table where it wasn’t conducive for a large person party… The seating there blocked the staff from getting in and out of the kitchen and made for an uncomfortable experience.

    Lovely early dinner spot with our toddler, the food was great and the wait staff gracious for a small human who sometimes needed to take laps around the restaurant and take pauses to watch the chefs at work!

    Originally I reserved a table for 8 but needed a table for 11 St Anselm accomadated my party of 11. Our waitress Ninea *( auto correct) provided exceptional service, she explained the menu items, and made sure our orders were correct. Our food was hot, and the even accomadated making my food choices vegan, everyone enjoyed their food... especially the biscuits!! The music was diverse without interrupting the atmoshere.Our party enjoyed ourselves,and plan to return soon.

    I heard a lot about st. Anselm, I wasn’t impressed with the food at all. I’ve had better steaks and meat from other places. Also my steak came cold which no one ever wanna eat a cold steak. However, our waitress was excellent and her name is Jenn? Sorry if I spelled it wrong! She’s excellent and she made our experience good. She’s very attentive and helpful, answered all our questions precisely. I don’t know if I will go back because of the food.

    We liked it--service people were very nice and engaging. Beet salad and squash salad were both very good starters and skate and dorade were both very good seafood main courses. And brussel sprouts were a very good side order--there were really no negatives.

    Biscuits are a must try. Wanted the monkey bread but they had ran out. We had a 2pm reservation. Our server wasn't the most friendly. She was very matter of fact. Checked on us once and left when her shift ended without letting us know or dropping off the ticket. The other server who checked on my table was very nice. Overall would consider returning.

    Very mid-tier brunch for a premium. Terrible service - the restaurant was half empty and we waited 45 min to food and the wrong drink was brought to our table. The runner was insistent that it was an Americano, though it clearly was milky with a spring of mint on top. He left it at the table even though we said it was wrong, and it wasn't until the waitress came back about 15 minutes later that we were able to get it resolved. There are plenty of better restaurants in DC to go to.

    Free parking available at the nearby Union Market parking lot. Great service. Our server was very patient with our multiple order changes, he recommended some great options and provided prompt service.

    Wonderful wonderful service and excellent food. My only disappointment was that, on our reservation made through OpenTable, I indicated that one of our group would be celebrating their 65th birthday. The restaurant didn't acknowledge it at all until we made sure the waiter was aware - it was clear no one had paid attention to it in OpenTable.

    They brought us the wrong starter twice. It look a lot of time for our food to come out, partially because we were brought the wrong item twice. The couple sitting next to us arrived after we did, ordered after we did, and were brought out their mains before our starter arrived. Then our food was generally undersalted and bland. I asked for a medium rare steak, and it was rare. Very underwhelming overall, but the chicory salad was exceptional. Maybe we just ordered the wrong dishes.

    The food was amazing, everything was delicious, well-prepared, and they timed the courses perfectly. Our server was incredible, she knowledgeably answered all of our questions, clearly knew the menu, and she had great recommendations. It is a pricey place but great for a celebration or if price isn’t important to you.

    A friend recommended St. Anselm and, after seeing sweet potato pie on the menu, making a dinner reservation here was an easy decision. I was a solo diner for the evening and, when I declined a seat at the bar (the stools do not have backs), I was seated at a table. The service was fantastic! My server was attentive, not smothering, and she did not hurry me along to free up the table. The wine on tap was a lovely compliment to my meal and the food was DELICIOUS (I had the biscuits, squash salad and sweet potato pie.). I now, in turn, have highly recommended St. Anselm to others.
