   This restaurant was a very pleasant surprise. We did not know what to expect, but it was excellent. The corn bread muffins were the best I've ever had. We also ordered the Southern Roll, which was incredible. Our chicken-fried chicken was delicious. Next time I will order the Mac n Cheese because that seems to be what most were having. And the little girl at the next table proclaimed that it was better than Chik-fil-A! High praise indeed.

   Great food and great service as always. I suggest the strawberry margarita, fish and shrimp, yams and Mac and cheese. Leave room for the muffins and then go home and take a nap! Fantastic

   My friends chose this restaurant for ladies evening out. First visit for them; I have dined here several times. Noted Opportunities for Improvement: Person at the front desk was less than welcoming. Poor attitude. Took us to our seats, threw the menus on the table, didn't speak clearly. I had to ask her what she was saying several times. One member of our party ordered Turkey wings; wait staff explained that someone else had just ordered and there weren't anymore. Restaurant opened at 5pm. Our reservations were at 5:30pm. I ordered baked chicken that was overcooked, gravy was not homemade as indicated on the menu; only 2 dessert options offered Noted Positives: Cornbread served piping hot and delicious as always; Collard greens seasoned to perfection; candied yams were good; generous portion of crab cakes with very little filler; Great atmosphere overall Hoping this was just an off day as this is one of my go to places.

   what an awesome experience!!! Southern Kitchen has won my heart. The manager came over and i know we talked about the experience at least 15 times. You will not be disappointed. The food came out hot and tasty. I woke up wanting more. Thank you, Southern Kitchen, for a job well done!

   The food was great, as usual. The ambience was warm and inviting. The waitress not so much. We had to ask the waitress repeatedly for certain things like napkins, straws, and extra drink, but other than that everything was amazing.

    Overall was good,but I don't like that they automatically charge you for gratuity which is a lot especially if you feel your waiter didn't do much. You should be warned of this before dining. Also ordered a drink on a separate ticket and they did the same thing. Drink was weak wasnt worth the price. The glass was smaller than your water glass and it was 16 plus tax and gratuity which can to 20 bucks. People should be able to choose how much tip. Would I go back I don't know because of the tipping process. However the food was great and portion was good.

    This was a very good experience. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was pleasing. Reservations are required. Unfortunately, we placed a reservation and still had to wait 15-20 min for a table although we were on time for our reservation. This was our first visit and do not think that this is the regular experience as our peers have spoken well of their experiences. This was just our experience, but we would definitely go back. The meal is worth the cost.

    I felt that since the table was made of wood there should have been a cloth table cloth on the table. Also with such a classy restaurant there should also have been cloth napkins around the silver ware. Flowers should have also been on the table whether they were real or artificial. The food was excellent. Salt and pepper should have been on the table without asking for them. The Ladies Restroom could have been cleaner and with some type of air freshener. I will come to Southern Kitchen again in the future.

    Warm and inviting atmosphere. Our server was excellent. Food was served promptly and needs were anticipated. The Southern Rolls were an amazing appetizer. The blackened catfish was prepared perfectly and had great flavor. The candied yam side was delicious. Some of the best Southern cooking that I have had. Would definitely return if I travels takes me back to Richmond.

    This was an excellent choice for date night with my Boyfriend. The staff were top notch and very professional! The food was superb and delicious. I ordered the Smoothered Pork chops, collard greens, and candied yams. Delicious. The cornbread muffins with the drizzled butter was everything too. The ambiance was perfect and I will be back again for a future date night and girls day out in Richmond! Hands down Richmond has the best soul food restaurants in Virginia!

    I heard so many wonderful reviews about this place and wanted to check it out! I took a very good friend for dinner and TRUST……Southern Kitchen did not disappoint! We were seated immediately (had reservations) and greeted with smiling faces! Our server Bruno was very attentive and polite! This is definitely one of my favorites now!

    The food was good. The southern egg rolls were GREAT. The drinks were strong, a positive. The service was also very prompt and friendly. Everyone greeted me, even in passing. The establishment was very clean, to include the restroom. When I am in Richmond, this will be my spot.

    Southern Kitchen was a really nice restaurant, I have no idea why it had taken me so long to come when I eat out regularly. I love that a reservation has to be made so there wasn't a wait time to eat, we were immediately seated. The wait staff, the host/hostesses were all professional and courteous. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Southern Kitchen and will definitely be back.

    The food, ambiance and customer service exceeded my expectation. My waitress had short blonde hair. I don't remember her name. However she provided top tier service and gave GREAT food and drink suggestions. The owner (I believe) personally stop by each and every table to ask how are you. Very relational . I had the southern egg rolls for an app. I also had the fried catfish, fried cabbage, yams and mac & cheese as my entrée. The complimentary corn muffins melt in your mouth. I had the strawberry lemonade cocktail. It was was OMG Slap yo momma good! I ordered the strawberry crunch cake to go. I couldn't finish half of my food . Very nice size portions. This is a MUST TRY Black owned establishment.

    The ambiance, food, and staff here are all absolutely amazing and this is a most go to restaurant while in Richmond, VA!! :) My husband and I brought family that were from out of town and they were amazed with the food. The buttered cornbread muffins at the beginning are to die for followed by some of the most delicious dishes I have ever had (honey dipped friend chicken was my favorite, and the shrimp & grits was super delicious according to my MIL). They also have a great drink selection and bar to sit at while you wait for your table. Thank you, Southern Kitchen, for your gift to the city!! :)

    I usually enjoy this restaurant but I thought it was just ok this time. The food was hot; however, the Mac and cheese was not very good, nor were the black eye peas. Skip the cobblers, quite bland.
