   Had a party of 10 and got charged a credit card fee/ surcharge on the bill like this is the early 2000’s or a small business. I haven’t seen that at a restaurant in ages. Food was great though!

   Overall Smashing Grapes is a nice establishment, the atmosphere is pleasant with a trendy music selection and ambient lighting. They were over booked and handled the situation satisfactorily. There were noticeable shifts in temperature; too hot one minute a bit too cool the next. I ordered a Filet Mignon medium and it arrived well done. I had to send it back; however, once it arrived, it was well prepared. While most restaurants would have compensated you, on at least one item on the bill for sending out an order incorrectly prepared and making you wait even longer; not Smashing Grapes. My wife’s salmon was a bit over done as well. This was our second time dining here and I think it may be our last for awhile; although, they do make a very good Old Fashioned.

   Good food, nice ambiance. A little pricey. I expect that for the dinner service but even lunch is on the higher side. I would definitely recommend.

   Excellent service but our server seemed to be the only one serving our entire side of the restaurant. This meant the time it took to take drink orders and waiting for our bill was longer than normal. No complaints toward the server or her service she was just really swamped. Will return as we really enjoy this place!

   This was our first-time dining at Smashing Grapes in Gambrills and we had a refreshing experience. Our waitress Kris H. was amazing she was full of energy and had rave reviews about the menu and her favorites. So much so we ordered a few. If you go ask for Kris as your waitress, we certainly plan to on our next visit. The front staff manager was gracious and welcoming me as well. Enjoy!

   Service was great. Manager came over to say hello. Server was great too. We had ahi tuna nachos and Buffalo cauliflower for appys. The tuna was good but not enough on the nachos. The cauliflower was very good. Two of us got the miso sea bass which was great. My husband got the rockfish which was a small portion and a little dry. Don’t recommend.

    First time there, went on a Monday so it was fairly quiet. The waiter was new but he was great . On Mondays their pasta dishes are 50% off whih was a gret surprise!!

    This was our first visit to Smashing Grapes. My husband had the Skirt Steak and I had the Lamb Chops. Before our meal we had the Buffalo Cauliflower. All was well prepared to order and very tasty. The service was outstanding!

    Huge disappointment would be understatement. We ate here when they first opened in Gambrills, MD year or so ago. We were unimpressed then and we are even more unimpressed now. The server though nice was very slow, forgetful and distracted. The food kept coming cold, tasteless, tough and salty. The Chef needs to learn balance for cooking. Something might look "pretty" but function was not considered. Not a good idea to place French fries out on a large cutting board, then place a tough steak on top of it. (The heat from the fries cooks/steams the steak more) As you eat the steak the fries under are getting cold by the second. Especially when there's an air blower over the table. I ordered a cocktail with Grey Goose. That too had an odd flavor. Even with having a slight buzz, it didn't help the food. The first Manager came over and asked how everything is? We didn't even get our waters yet. So after sending our food back to the kitchen at least 3 times each, we called Manager #2 over. He could have cared less on how bad the night was going and took everything off the bill. It's not always about doing a comp. Sometimes it's actually about hearing what the issues are. I mean really hearing the customer. The oysters were also unimpressive and not shucked correctly. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give it a 1. The name is ironic... We are going to Smash the idea of ever considering to eat here again. DO BETTER!!!

    The price of brunch is out of control. Do you really think that $55 per person is worth it? If so, you’re out of touch with reality. A very good meal would be a lot less than the price charged for brunch. What infuriated us was that the stations all had a tip jar and when we got our bill, the tip was already included and furthermore, there was a place on the bill for us to include even more tip. There is no reason why I’d want to spend even more money there. It left us with a bitter taste in our mouth and we cannot and will not recommend Smashing Grapes to anyone. You are gauging the customer. In addition, the food that was available was cold when it should’ve been warm and picked over when the food should’ve been replaced.You have to pay per beverage and if you just want iced tea, the charge is $8.00. We couldn’t even order a simple lunch you had to pay for a full brunch. Awful dining experience all the way around. Your organization is absolutely and utterly ridiculous. Shame on your establishment. Finally, the service was awful. The waitress came once in awhile, gave us a look when we did not order alcohol and took over 30 minutes to get our check to leave. Do yourself and your wallet a favor, stay away.

    The bread for our appetizer almost broke my tooth. The server took about 20 minutes to even greet us and wasn't busy. We had to ask someone walking by if they could take our table. Not what it was when it first opened. Very disappointed

    I did not have the best experience this day. Waitress took forever to come to the table the whole time I was there. The Bahn Mi sliders aren’t anything special. Kind of dry actually. The burger and salad was good though.

    We went to the Sunday brunch. The food selection was excellent with several stations (crepes, meat carving, pasta, omelet), lots of fruit, cheeses, and charcuterie meats, eggs benedict, bacon, french toast and other breakfast items, seafood, breads, pasteries etc. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and could answer any questions you may have- A plus for him! The only downside is the price is steep ($55/person) with extra $5 charged for mimosas, bloody marys, fruit juice, specialty coffees (latte, cappuchino, etc) which quickly adds up if anyone in your group wants orange juice or a latte (or other drinks other than sodas or just coffee. There's also a 3.25% credit card charge, 18% added automatically for service (which was fine in our case as our waiter was excellent). They ask that you limit your time to 90 minutes (which was ok with us but just be aware). The only other glitch was that the crepe station wasn't set up completely when we went to the buffet and there was no one there at first to make crepes--someone came pretty quickly but all the items on the sign weren't there for the crepes. The omelet and pasta stations were combined and had a fairly long line as well. Overall, though, we enjoyed the food and service but found the price tag steep with all the extra charges tacked on to an already fairly high $55 charge/person. Would recommend but with the caveat that it is expensive endeavor.

    We came from an hour away to try Smashing Grapes as our Valentines Day dinner. First time visit. Our dinner was great. Got a simple side Caesar salad and 7oz steak skirt with broccolini; bf got the chicken tortilla soup and lamb chops. Drew was our server and he was very pleasant, but there was one disappointment in that we were both shockingly carded (we both are almost 50!) and haven’t been asked for our ID’s in over 20 years. I had my license with me but my bf left his in the car and didn’t want to bother getting it since we were parked far away. He asked Drew for a “bottle of their finest water”! Clearly we don’t look anywhere near 21 anymore, and other tables were not being carded. It also took more than 15 mins for our drink order to be taken and our menus were left on the corner of the table, not picked up. Tiny details. Management did check on us twice and that was a nice touch but we didn’t bother to say anything. We still left a generous gratuity as Drew was probably just doing his job, and we let it go as a compliment. I had the spicy margarita which was on point. My bf had two bottles of their “finest water on tap” and said it was the best water he ever had, trying to enjoy the rest of our dinner. Too bad he couldn’t try any of the cocktails. We didn’t bother staying for dessert and dessert drinks like we normally do since he didn’t have ID, but we would probably return and ensure ID’s are on us next time. Our dinner bill could’ve been double what it was had we both been able to drink so I guess that saved us a ton of money there, and loss revenue for the restaurant. Had to remove one star based off of our experience last night.

    We ordered the set menu for Valentine’s Day. It was beautifully plated, delicious and a good value. The portion sizes looked small, but it was quite filling. Dessert was dreamy with some original creations. Cocktails were also creative, but a little pricey and I didn’t taste alcohol in my rum punch. All in all, through, I enjoyed it and plan to go back. :)
