Wonderful experience. Table for 9 and beautifully managed
Delicious meal. The set menu with wine pairings was outstanding. The wines worked perfectly with each course. Highly recommended.
I love this restaurant. I have dined here with my family and friends and I have never been disappointed.
Service is top notch. Food is delicious, ambience is quiet, and a lot of effort goes to taking care of all details of your reservation.
I highly recommend it!
Not good for a business meal. Having to order all at once for everyone is not typical for business meals. Our company is removing this location from the dinner option location.
Excellent pre fixed menu. Service could’ve been better, but still very nice staff. Food was spectacular
Outstanding food and service. Creative and innovative and simply delicious!
The server wasn’t very pleasant
We found the courses to be moderately long in between serving, and then the clearing of the plates at the end premature
The interior is a little deceptive in that the best tables are in back, away from the street. Good food and service.
Great fine dining option downtown Chicago. Well-curated wine selection and amazing dishes - beautiful decor.
Food was beautifully prepared. Burger was not the best I have had - however still a very nice meal for lunch
Second time for me. Lamb pappardelle, excellent and complex taste. Duck breast good but nothing innovative about it. Pear upside down cake was dry, nicely presented thought with ice cream and grapes. Servers seemed a bit overwhelmed. Expected better experience.
Roxy saved the day. She is an amazing server...informative, helpful and a true professional. Same for the bartender...whose name i unfortunately didn't learn. both really made us feel welcomed. the desk staff are snotty, somewhat rude and overly impressed with themselves....on the phone and in person. a class or two in "customer experience" would benefit them greatly. food was great. the artichoke soup fantastic. beautiful restaurant.
We had a marvelous dinner at Sepia. Our server, Tangela was amazing and so attentive. The scallops and the cod were definitely the culinary stars of the night for us and the wine choices of Jennifer complimented the food so well! I highly recommend just letting her choose wines for you as she has impeccable taste and is so incredibly intuitive in her selections. Can’t wait to come back the next time I’m in Chicago!
Fantastic food - service was less professional and organized than I would have expected, but zero complaints with the food.
Impeccable food and service (every time) in a lovely, refined setting. Sepia is always pitch perfect.
This is perhaps the 5th or 6th time I have been to Sepia. The food has been reliably excellent, but the noise in the restaurant has gotten progressively more oppressive since the bar scene in front has taken off. I used to recommend Sepia as one of the quieter fine restaurants where one could carry on a normal conversation. Unfortunately, it isn't that anymore. Some thought needs to be given to dampening the noise from the bar.
The atmosphere was welcoming and we felt comfortable from the moment we entered the restaurant and the hostess took our coats. Our server Paige was very friendly and not snooty. We ordered 3 different entrees and we were not disapointed. Everything we tasted was perfectly seasoned and well balanced. We ordered a pork dish, a chicken dish and a beef dish and with every bite was delicious. Beautiful presentation and great service. Great attention to detail
One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Beautiful presentations, memorable and creative flavors and fun cocktails! Highly recommend!!
Our service and food quality were both incredible. Sepia is a gem! The setting is unique and gorgeous. The menu is expertly curated. The food was like artwork, unique and wonderful. Cannot wait to go back.
Service & food were average. Tables were in rough condition. Prices were way to hgh for all we got.
Overall we were ALL VERY disappointed!
wanted restaurant with great food, service and atmosphere, but not so loud my friend and I could not carry on a conversation. Sepia was absolutely perfect. Had been there a few times before and was not disappointed this time. Menu always seems to change so something new and exciting to try. Pork Collar was fabulous. My friend's chicken he said was delicious. Standout side was Asparagus Tempura. Gelato dessert terrific, especially Passion Fruit. Highly recommend.
An unbelievably wonderful experience. The ambiance is spot-on, the perfect balance of casual elegance so that you feel present in a place that is going to provide an amazing experience without even the hint of pretentiousness. The menu is adventurous and welcoming at the same time giving options to any level of diner. The service - impeccable. From the moment we walked in until the moment we left we felt as if we were welcomed guests in someone's home. Most amazing was the price point... for the quality, detail and expertise involved they could easily raise prices 30-40%. Paid the same amount elsewhere in Chicago for dinners that wouldn't even compare. Would definitely return.
I have been to better restaurant that aren't Michelin star. The food was ok but didn't have a wow factor. Very disappointed.
Melding of many flavours. Enjoyed each plate. Service attentive but not rushed. Not big portions but adequate. I really enjoyed.
You cant do better than Sepia, whether its date night, friends visiting, or just feeling like treating yo self! The best part is for fine dinning it is very affordable. Staff is incredible. We were served by Roxi (Sp) and her recommendations were spot on. Cocktails were mind blowing.
The waiter served our red Burgundy in Bordeaux glasses, which typically wouldn't be so bad, except that a table next to ours did get the appropriate Burgundy glasses. It also seemed odd that other tables received an amouse bouche but we did not. The food was good, though I found dinner the night before at Bistro Campagne to be far superior in all respects.
The team at Sepia was spot on. We had theater performance to follow our evening meal, and I have never seen such prompt or efficient service. Each dish was immaculately prepared and yet arrived nearly instantaneously. Our server was friendly, and everyone went out of their way to accommodate our family despite three generations of guests at the table (ages 13-77). The menu was creative, the cocktails well crafted, and the every dish was delicious.
The food was excellent and so was the service. The restaurant is small so it can get a little loud very quickly.
It is expensive but worth the money to celebrate a special evening.
Amazing tasting menu and ambiance
Overall experience was good.
Loved the service! Overall, it was okay. Food was fine, atmosphere a little uninspiring. Glad I went simply to check it off my list.
We had a lovely evening. The chefs tasting menu was superb.
Service was spot on, our server was very knowledgeable and attentive!
Pre show dinner was so wonderful. Wines picks by staff perfectly matched beautifully prepared meal. Cavatelli w morels and black garlic. Yum. Asparagus soup. Sturgeon entree. Cod entree. All beautiful. Will make a point to return here!!
I have been at Sepia two times with my husband and we have always been very pleased with everything. The service is outstanding. Staff is attentive, but not hovering. I highly recommend the endive salad with horseradish dressing - definitely to die for. I had the chicken and my husband had the beef - both dishes looked and tasted delicious! Our friends ordered old fashions and commented that this was the best old fashion they'd every had. Go to Sepia - you will not be disappointed.
Last evenings experience at Sepia certainly was not the same as we enjoyed in the past. Our server was overly pushy to get our drink and food orders, when we obviously were engaged in a business discussion. So much so that colleagues from Switzerland commented upon it, and when the server was asked if the table had to be flipped, the response returned was "no"...so why the frequent interruptions.
Those in the group whom have dined at Sepia previously, felt that the quality of the food was not what was experienced in the past. Sepia certainly is a favourite for my wife and I and we will be back. However, based on this, our most recent experience, we would be hesitant to recommend it to others.
Waiter was there at all times and was attentive to all our needs.
Great experience! The food was well-presented, but maybe a bit overpriced. The service was great!
Still going strong, this dining experience by Chef Zimmerman always delivers. With seasonal ingredients combined classically yet with modern flourish, we’re always surprised and delighted. The Bartending team pay similar attention to their signature cocktails. Embrace the fantastic wine list with help from the sommelier team; it will result in terrific pairings be it one bottle or part of a tasting menu. The service team is excellent.
