What Insiders Are Saying
Sen Sakana is Peruvian-Japanese place in Midtown that might be good for a business lunch, although you don't really have to spend your money here.
Great food, amazing service.
Food was amazing! The unique fusion of Peruvian and Japanese flavors was an exciting combo. The meal was light. I wish I could try everything on the menu! The staff was attentive and respectful and they were very accommodating to our dietary restrictions. I can't wait to come back!
This place is game changer. The food here is elevated. There are so many choices that you're enticed to come back again and again. This is my new spot.
Delicious meal! The fish was incredible quality and they had some really interesting combinations of flavors and textures going on in their rolls.
Excellent food with appropriate sizing as always. Service was good but our server won't make steamed vegetables (only fried?) and gave my eel avocado roll to my dining guest.
Great food good service . My gf even forgot her phone and they even came to the hotel and dropped it off. What service !
Great ambience. Excellent service. I would come back
I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. Amazing food, great atmosphere and awesome staff. Highly recommend!
Didn't quite measure up to the expectations. Neither is it a real Italian-Japanese fusion kitchen, nor an outstanding Japanese one.
The food quality is good but pricy for a noisy crowded restaurant. The waiter was rushing to remove the spoon before I finish my dishes which require the spoon. I felt been rushed.
Love this place - never hesitate to come back...always perfect!
It was our daughter’s birthday weekend trip, and even though we specified in the reservation that it was a birthday dinner, Sen Sakana didn’t do anything to celebrate it... Fantastic food and we will definitely return. Just pay a bit more attention to the special occasions section of the reservation, please.
Everything was outstanding. No complaints. The food and service were fantastic and we will return as will our guests.
Another great meal. Always memorable. This is a "must go" restaurant, not only because of its closeness to the theatre district, but for the excellent preparation and presentation of the cuisine.
Wow. What a wonderful experience. The food was exceptional and the tram were all friendly and warm. Perfect portions of exquisite fresh sushi. Sexy Sakana is one to try and the crab rolls are delicious. We went early evening it was not over busy but a real treat.
Amazing Peruvian twist on sushi. Second time there. Our favorite.
Stylish place. Very tasty and well-presented food.
We only ate raw fish dishes (ceviche and sushi). The ceviches were almost as good as those we've eaten in Lima and all of it was super-fresh. Tres leches dessert was different but delicious. We had theater tickets and they were good about getting us out in time.
Sen Sakana has great food and great service. The staff is very knowledgeable of the menu and give great recommendations.
Very nice ambience.very cordial staff, delicious food,. My friend and I really enjoyed our beautiful night. We will come again for sure.
The restaurant was an excellent choice for our pre-show dinner. Amazing food, nice ambience and great service. We will definitely be back.
Food is spectacular, service is great as always. I always have a great time when I come to this restaurant
My daughter and I came in to celebrate her 10th birthday and everything was amazing.
The food is wonderful. We had the price fix since it was a before our theatre show. Timing was perfect. They asked when we needed to leave for the show.
This is the second time we have eaten there, sushi is so flavorful. Nice restaurant especially for the location.
Good food and service. Good spot for a business meeting. My foodie client enjoyed it.
The food and service were exceptional. I was only looking for sushi, and that may have been my mistake. Clearly their menu is unique and I was not prepared for items that went far beyond my expectations for a place specializing in sushi. However, in terms of value, I think the prices were high.
If he service was wonderful and the food was also great excellent. I had high hopes and was not disappointed. I love sushi and also loved a trip to Peru last year- the fusion is spot on!
We loved Sen Sakana! My husband and I have been for a long time aficionados of Peruvian Nikkei cuisine and its delicate ceviches and tiraditos, it was such a pleasure to discover more delicious dishes, like chirashi and the mini empanadas. The fish is super fresh, and the service is impeccable. Great sake too, we had a delicious unfiltered one.
Sen Sakana will become a favorite and I am looking forward to my next visit!
If this was based on my lunches there, it would have been 5 stars. However, our server forget to give us the tasting menu so we did not know it existed until after we had ordered, the sushi went from great to good, and we left hungry despite ordering twice.
If it is lunch time, do not hesitate to go here but for a weekend dinner you may be disappointed.
One of the best meals I've ever had in my life - a testament to the beauty of cultures learning and growing with each other. Absolutely amazing.
Really wanted to love this place as it has great reviews and pays its workers fare wages, but wasn’t thrilled with our food or our service. Waited a long time and paid a lot for just okay sashimi.
My new favorite restaurant.....can't wait to go back, I'm going next week!!
Food was amazing and tremendous ambiance for our date night. Our waitress provided exceptional service and really made the experience pleasant.
Loved the dumplings, empanada, japenese whiskey flight, and sushi. Highly recommend!
I have been wanting to eat here for a long time and bonus it is a no tipping restaurant. This means that the 20% tip is already incorporated into the cost of each dish. I came here for happy hour with $9 cocktails. The cuisine is a fusion of Japanese and Peruvian flavors. My friend and I order several small plates which were really good. The only downside is that the portions were small for the cost of the dish. after attending a seminar in the neighborhood. The bartender was very knowledgeable and did quite well selling the specials of the day. One dish was the edamame which was surprisingly flavorful and addicting. The yucca queso croquettes were really delicious one biters and small. The salman tartare causa was also good but also small. The desserts were unique and tasty while not being overly sweet. I would definitely return to try other dishes and even plan a birthday dinner.
My wife and I loved everything about Sen Sakana! The Japanese-Peruvian dinner selections were perfect, and the drinks were just as good.
FANTASTIC, as always!
That is not real Nikkei cuisine. The restaurant is nice but the food is just ok for what they charge. If you have ever been to Peru and love Nikkei, do no go here. They can’t even make a pisco sour properly. Overpriced and generic food.
Great food and service.
