   Hello I appreciate Carly and Val. It’s more pleasant and Friendly. I ask for suggestion and I am a regular and I bring friends to experience the restaurant. It also seems like the food is much better as well. Must be a New Chef And the food came out in a timely fashion. It’s a matter of a week I am very Glad I don’t have to see Amanda and Louis anymore

   The restaurant was packed, and was understaffed (not their fault). It took a half hour to get a waitress, who really tried, but she, as the others, were overwhelmed.

   Food was very good; especially the Julia salad and calamari. I was disappointed when I asked for pepper and I got a pepper shaker instead of fresh cracked pepper. We had reservations at 5:15 and by 5:45 the restaurant was very busy. Our waitress took our food order and that was the last we saw of her until I paid the bill. Our table was on the main level but our waitress had tables downstairs and she was helping the bartender.

   Chicken Calabrese, Eggplant Parmegiana, baked bread and garlic dipping sauce were all A+. As was service by Mike. We are only in town for another 4 days but hope to get back for more fantastic food. Sammy’s is a must do for us whenever we are in Baltimore!

    I fee l bad writing this, but I was Friday night was a bit disappointing. The positives, the food is great! especially the Julia salad. The workers we dealt with were very friendly and apologetic when appropriate. The place was busy and they seemed understaffed. It took a long time to get everything from water to bread, though the food was well paced coming out. My wife and I were fine and decided to roll with it. Sadly, our patience was not rewarded because after we finally got our plates cleared and dessert eaten we were essentially asked, by a server who had not helped with our table, to leave because another couple, who are regulars, always sit there. Its a little sad because I liked the ambience WAY more than the Hunt Valley location, but if they really wanted that table for a regular then they should have been more vigilant about the pacing earlier on. Instead of leaving feeling like we would return and hope it was less crazy; we now will not hurry back.

    We had a reservation, but the only table available upstairs when we arrived was right by the door, so we opted for one in the basement. There it was less crowded but chilly, and the brick walls made for terrible acoustics, so it became hard to hear each other when more guests arrived. We ordered the duck ravioli and the salmon scampi. Both were quite tasty although a bit too oily. The portions were not especially generous, but adequate. The service was very friendly even though the staff was rather rushed.

    We go to Sammy's a lot. This time, the service was extremely quick. We had no trouble getting to our lecture on time. The bread and dipping oil are always exceptional. The shrimp scampi appetizer was scrumptious.

    We came in from Oklahoma where there is zero good Italian food and we were blown away with this place. Thank you so much for a wonderful Valentine’s Day. As someone who has been in hospitality for over 13 years, Sammy’s is special. Loved the staff so much - will definitely go back next time we are in Baltimore.

    Have been to Sammy’s many times with impeccable food and service, however, that was not the case on Friday. We waited 90 minutes for our meals that we didn’t get to enjoy because we had to run to a show. After a few quick bites that tasted great we were really disappointed that Sammy’s seems to be booking more than they can handle (all 3 floors packed). I see I’m not the only one that has had this experience.

    In a post-COVID restaurant world, where good service is harder to find than good food, Sammy’s gives you both. The service was excellent, our server and the kitchen delivered a well planned and sequenced meal. The food and portions were first rate. One of the better dining experiences my wife and I’ve had in some time.

    The service could not have been any worse. We had 5pm reservations and our apps and drinks arrived timely. We were finished the apps by 5:40 and then waited and waited and waited for dinner. At 6:10 we told them we had 7pm show tix but that did not seem to help. Our dinners were served finally at 6:30 and we immediately asked for the check and carry out boxes. One of the 4 entrees served was completely wrong ( chicken instead of veal). E each had about 3 bites of dinner and got to the show at 7:15. The 4 of us left very angry and upset and still hungry. Probably won’t be back

    We arrived for dinner at 5:00 and left at 6:30 without ever having been served our dinner. The place was packed due to the Jim Gaffigan show at the Lyric but a restaurant should know what its limits are and not be so greedy that it can't serve everyone. Our waiter was nice and very apologetic but I have never gone to a restaurant in my decades of dining and not been served dinner!!!!

    Our dining experience would've been so much better if they would hire just one more person. We had a 5 o'clock reservation and felt rushed to make our selections. Once our food was ready, only 3 of the 4 of us received our food. We watched in frustration while our server tended the guest upstairs while my husband's entree and friends side dish went cold. My friend's husband's plate was cold, which no one could understand. The staff is trying their best, but need just one more person to serve the amount of guest there.

    It was a show night. Very crowded and noisy. The food was only so so and service was slow. I’ll give it a pass for this occasion but it was somewhat disappointing for a place we normally love.

    Dinner before a show at the Lyric was excellent! Val was great at guiding us through the menu and accommodating our requests. Excellent bottle of primitivo wine complimented the lasagna with bolognese sauce. My wife had the pesto pasta with shrimp which she thoroughly enjoyed. Bonus that the portions are so generous that we both have lunch for tomorrow. We will be back!

    We dine here before the symphony often. It gets bit annoying to be pressured by the staff to hurry up and order "because we will get slammed" with patrons coming in at the same time. It happens every time, pre-covid as well as currently. One "warning" is more than enough.

    Make sure you make a reservation, as this place is popular for folks seeing the BSO or plays at the Lyric. The food was excellent, but like many restaurants, there were not enough staff working so wait times were long. The four folks working were running absolutely ragged trying to keep up, which we understood and appreciated. That said, the food is DELICIOUS, and as long as you have the time to potentially wait, it’s absolutely worth the trip. Our family will definitely be back.

    Outstanding food and a heroic effort from the staff amidst the rush! On an absolutely packed night, our server was literally running between tables and the kitchen to try and keep everything moving as smoothly as possible. The kitchen must have been overwhelmed but our food came out excellent and impressively tasty. Their staff put in a huge effort to making our experience a good one even amidst the Saturday night rush before the symphony. I would have understood if our service had been slow and our server exhausted, but somehow they powered through. I hope they were well rewarded for their efforts - they really pulled it off. Look forward to returning, though perhaps with our reservation a bit earlier to ease the staff from some of the rush!
