   The food was excellent, the service was outstanding. Valerie was simply amazing! A weath of knowledge and information with spot on menu suggestions! I could not more strongly recommend this wonderful gem of a restaurant!

   The service could not have been any worse. We had 5pm reservations and our apps and drinks arrived timely. We were finished the apps by 5:40 and then waited and waited and waited for dinner. At 6:10 we told them we had 7pm show tix but that did not seem to help. Our dinners were served finally at 6:30 and we immediately asked for the check and carry out boxes. One of the 4 entrees served was completely wrong ( chicken instead of veal). E each had about 3 bites of dinner and got to the show at 7:15. The 4 of us left very angry and upset and still hungry. Probably won’t be back

   We arrived for dinner at 5:00 and left at 6:30 without ever having been served our dinner. The place was packed due to the Jim Gaffigan show at the Lyric but a restaurant should know what its limits are and not be so greedy that it can't serve everyone. Our waiter was nice and very apologetic but I have never gone to a restaurant in my decades of dining and not been served dinner!!!!

   Our dining experience would've been so much better if they would hire just one more person. We had a 5 o'clock reservation and felt rushed to make our selections. Once our food was ready, only 3 of the 4 of us received our food. We watched in frustration while our server tended the guest upstairs while my husband's entree and friends side dish went cold. My friend's husband's plate was cold, which no one could understand. The staff is trying their best, but need just one more person to serve the amount of guest there.

   It was a show night. Very crowded and noisy. The food was only so so and service was slow. I’ll give it a pass for this occasion but it was somewhat disappointing for a place we normally love.

   Dinner before a show at the Lyric was excellent! Val was great at guiding us through the menu and accommodating our requests. Excellent bottle of primitivo wine complimented the lasagna with bolognese sauce. My wife had the pesto pasta with shrimp which she thoroughly enjoyed. Bonus that the portions are so generous that we both have lunch for tomorrow. We will be back!

   We dine here before the symphony often. It gets bit annoying to be pressured by the staff to hurry up and order "because we will get slammed" with patrons coming in at the same time. It happens every time, pre-covid as well as currently. One "warning" is more than enough.

    Make sure you make a reservation, as this place is popular for folks seeing the BSO or plays at the Lyric. The food was excellent, but like many restaurants, there were not enough staff working so wait times were long. The four folks working were running absolutely ragged trying to keep up, which we understood and appreciated. That said, the food is DELICIOUS, and as long as you have the time to potentially wait, it’s absolutely worth the trip. Our family will definitely be back.

    Outstanding food and a heroic effort from the staff amidst the rush! On an absolutely packed night, our server was literally running between tables and the kitchen to try and keep everything moving as smoothly as possible. The kitchen must have been overwhelmed but our food came out excellent and impressively tasty. Their staff put in a huge effort to making our experience a good one even amidst the Saturday night rush before the symphony. I would have understood if our service had been slow and our server exhausted, but somehow they powered through. I hope they were well rewarded for their efforts - they really pulled it off. Look forward to returning, though perhaps with our reservation a bit earlier to ease the staff from some of the rush!

    We were able to get a reservation on New Year's Eve. The restaurant was busy but the staff was attentive and pleasant. Our appetizers were wonderful. The main courses were good and filled out desire for "home style" Italian.

    We loved our New Years dinner experience! Exuberant welcoming by Hostess! The bread and family salad was exceptional and all enjoyed their main dishes ! Such friendly staff . Very small down side was initial wait for service as we hit during transition time( 8 pm) and they were short staffed.

    The service was nonexistent. The server was either incompetent or they were very short-handed. It took a long time to get greeted, drinks, water, etc. There was no follow-up and what took me over the ledge was when he added a 20% gratuity, which I thought was very dishonest.

    We dined New Year's Eve, between 5:30 and 7:30pm, so some leeway must be given to the deminiushed service. Early on, we were approached several times for drink orders, a family-style salad (excellent!), and appetizers and our dinner order. Once our dinner order was in, we did not recieve any service until dinner was delivered (~45 minutes later). Our appetizer never came, no one stopped by to see if we needed water, coffee, dessert or anything else. We had to nearly tackle a waiter to clear our table and provide the check; we had an 8pm showtime. The bread was excellent, the salad was excellent, our entre's were excellent - kudo's to the chef and kitchen team!!

    Everyone enjoyed their meal. Judge Ks Veal was amazing as was everything else. Specifically the house salad for the table the crab toast and tiramisu. Wait staff was attentive. Cozy atmosphere. Will be our go to for Italian in the city from now on!

    Wait staff as always doing the best they could, but seems they are often understaffed at Sammy's. Waited at least 45 minutes for entrees to be served. Food was good, as always. Our table was in the bar area, which was way too noisy on this particular night for our party.

    Excellent service. Excellent food. The family style salad, delicious. Duck ravioli melted in my mouth. Tiramisu, decadent. Only negative comment was the wine selection, it was limited, no Chianti. Was told the distributor hasn’t delivered. Gave 5 stars bc our server recommended a very nice bottle of brunello. Would have preferred a less expensive option, but it was a very good bottle of wine so we weren’t disappointed.

    Great place before or after a show. Service was terrific considering how crowded they were - we got to the show on time, but didn't feel rushed. The food was (Duck ravioli) was great - tasty, good quantity, and reasonably priced.

    The FOOD! OMG I’ve had good Italian food before but this was next level. We dined family style and there was so much we all had to go containers. We had a chefs secret menu option which was absolutely to die for. The waitress and hostess were awesome not a single person in our party wanted for anything. You have made me a repeat customer! Next time I’m there certainly going to stop by.

    Our entire meal was a delightful experience. We had cocktails, wine, an appetizer, main courses, and dessert - and every item was delicious. The staff - from greeting at the door and of the way through service - was warm, friendly and attentive. Hands down one of the best restaurants we have visited in the DMV area. We are already looking forward to gong back.

    Wonderful eatery with friendly staff - came to celebrate a new apartment and a family member’s birthday and it was a great experience.     I come to Sammy's whenever in Baltimore. This past weekend, we had out-of-town guests who who knew about our favorite restaurant. We were not disappointed -- everything was great (as usual) at a reasonable price.

    My wife and I had a great experience. We were eating dinner before going to a show at The Lyric. The hostess greeted us warmly immediately making us comfortable and welcome. We had the Sally salad to start. The salad dressing was outstanding. We had veal parm and spaghetti & meatballs. Both were well prepared, well seasoned and great tasting. We also had a side dish of tortellini with bolognese sauce. Again, great tasting and well prepared. Finally, we had blueberry Manhattans. It was a great cocktail. Overall, a great dining experience.

    We loved the place and would go back. 2 Caveats 1) They automatically add a 20% tip but it's not listed on the menu and you are told after the fact when they bring the menu. I mentioned it to the manager and she was happy to remove it. as far as I was concerned, the offer was sufficient and I left the tip on. 2.) we ordered 2 chiantis by the glass. The bartender was away from the bar, so our waitress poured 1 and 1/2 glasses of Montepulciano, and filled the 1/2 glass with a Rosso. I doubled checked the bottles with the bartender (Kudos) she was awesome while I waited at the bar for the rest of my group. Overall service was a slow. Would still give it another chance!
