Modern European
Set in one of London’s most stylish hotels, The Soho Hotel, REFUEL Bar and Restaurant is in the heart of the West End just moments away from the city’s popular theatres and nightlife. Designed by owner Kit Kemp, REFUELS’s interior is a vibrant mix of colour and contemporary art, including a mural painted by London-born artist Alexander Hollweg, which runs along the entire length of the oak and pewter bar. REFUEL is best known for its British menu with an emphasis on fresh and seasonal produce. Expect to find dishes such as confit pork belly, miso glaze with Swiss chard and poached cod, clam and parsley sauce. Also boasts one of Soho's best dessert menus with treats like English strawberries, vanilla and mascarpone tart; raspberry and white chocolate crème brûlée and Amaretto and lemon curd. A favourite with the media and creative industries, the bar is always buzzing and offers a wide choice of cocktails and spirits.

What a disappointment! I booked a table for two for my mother's birthday - told the restaurant in advance. We ate at 4.30pm so it was virtually empty (understandably there was zero ambience) but despite this it took such a long time to get the waiter's attention when we finally spotted him. I actually had to call out to him. I explained it was hard to get his attention which he acknowledged without apology. The lamb was very fatty and tough and the bread basket had such stale bread - really hard. They brought out cakes I had brought with me (but not on my signal as previously agreed) and did not include their own little cake with it like they said they would. The worst thing though was that when I handed over my Open Table dining cheque they said it would take 15 mins to process (so clearly reluctant) - when I agreed to this, the waiter came back and said that he "couldn't find the number" on the cheque. Rang up Opentable and found that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the cheque. Nice of them to embarrass me on my mother's birthday. Shocking service - avoid.

Smart venue, great food and wine. Service could have been a little more prompt especially with drinks to begin with. Otherwise couldn’t fault the experience and would recommend.

We booked dinner for a group of 5 last Friday night after eating there once before and enjoying the food.
We all ordered from the set menu (2 courses for £19.50 or 3 courses for £24.50 per person, including an Aperol Spritz).
Service was friendly and quick throughout the night and food was delivered at appropriate intervals. However, the drink service was noticeably slow all night to the point it became a running joke.
The lamb is highly recommended (all 5 of us ordered it) but be sure to add chips or another side as what is included is not enough.
The set menu dessert options are disappointing and limited (especially for an additional £5). We opted for the regular dessert menu which for a couple pounds more, is well worth it.
I’m not a foody but the Avocado and Lime Cheesecake with raspberries and honeycomb is the most delicious and complex (equally) dessert I’ve had in years. Just writing about it makes me want it again.

Overall, a great evening and very reasonably priced for central London.

The £20 for 2 courses deal is excellent value, although drinks are expensive and you will have to order sides.

Nice vibe and great location.

Weren't readily aware of the £19.50 set meal with an aperol spritz which is why I booked the restaurant. When they did come up with the menu it was disappointing so we opted for some bar snacks instead spending £40/head.

The staff were great and gave us a larger table as I was walking with a stick and temporarily restricted. We loved the food although the meringue on the set menu was disappointing - so chewy/hard that I could hardly cut it.

Excellent experience. Food was above average (The Earl Grey and scones were divine!) but for the ambiance and price with the 25% off discount promo it was the perfect place for our group to have our first ever afternoon tea in London. We felt like royalty!

I love the Soho hotel and the Refuel bar and restaurant. It is a hidden gem and is such a nice venue to visit for a drink or for lunch. Beautiful decor and great food and service. Lots of attention from the staff. I also love the huge black cat that greets guests upon arrival at reception.

Went to Refuel for a pre-theatre meal and really enjoyed it.
The decor is very nice and we had a cocktail before sitting down.
The three-course menu with a free Open Table aperol spritz was great value.
Both my wife and I had the chicken for a main course and it was outstanding.
I cannot fault Refuel in any way and will definitely be going back

Proper service in a great looking dining room. Our waiter spent the time to understand what we liked and recommend a lovely wine. I don’t even know what it was called but it matched our tastes and food perfectly!
The food was fairly simple but beautifully presented and full of flavour.
A lovely place hidden away right in the middle of Soho. Highly recommended

Good option for the Sunday roast. Portions were substantial. Liquor a bit over priced, but it is a hotel.
The ambiance is ok, but you do feel like you are in a hotel lobby.

Late night booking and the staff were super friendly, helpful and accommodating as one of us was late into the hotel so we arrived for dinner just before closing

We both had entree, mains and desserts and the bill came to just shy of £200.00.

I had a couple of glasses of wine which were lovely, the ambience is gorgeous and like I say the staff wonderful

Unfortunately the food was seriously below par and not at all what we’d read and were lead to expect from other reviews

The loch fyne smoked salmon seemed supermarket bought. The Octopus tentacle warm and obviously suffering from end of night-Octopus-itous, The Barnsley chop dry and tough, the Dover sole fish filleted to within an inch of its life sitting in a bland white sauce. The desserts were lovely and the saving grace of the meal
It was an incredible disappointing meal particularly for the price paid.
Loved sitting in the space but would not eat dinner there again.

The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful. Funky backdrop behind the bar. Gorgeous lighting, seating, everything! The wait staff are very attentive. The food was incredible. We basically licked the bowl clean eating the carrot and squash soup. We had this delicious vegetarian dish. It looked like a thin slice of eggplant the long way and a nice kick of spice. We were very surprised that such a unique hip place was located inside a hotel. I DEFINITELY recommend this restaurant. We would not hesitate to go back again!

Great service and nice food (especially the bread). Sadly they don’t do burger menu, which is displayed on OpenTable, anymore, even though that was what made me wanna go in the first place. Kinda frustrated because they didn’t update their current menu on time.

Excellent experience. Very attentive, competent and happy yet professional bar and waiting staff. Stunning starters (we had the vegetarian options - ricotta gnudi, and courgette, polenta & a divine garlic pesto). One slight issue with my aubergine main was that the sweet chilli dressing was a little oversweet for me. The main portions are big (eg the pasta dishes) so consider a half portion if you're going for a starter beforehand. Pressed for time so sadly had to skip dessert. Pricey overall, but absolutely worth it for a treat. Highly recommend - you will not be disappointed!

We had a great Saturday evening dinner here. The service from all staff was friendly and knowledgeable even to recommending an after dinner cocktail.

My shepherd's pie was fantastic and not a small dish. My wife really enjoyed her crab and chili spaghetti recommend by our waitress.

All in all a perfect place for dinner in the west end

My friend and I had a very pleasant evening here. Staff were very attentive, helpful and polite, and being a Monday evening it was relatively quiet so we were able to talk and hear one another without shouting. We love the ambience and the food is delicious but unfortunately really pricey for our budget. The last time we came there was a set menu which suited us better. Even so we chose wisely and enjoyed ourselves.
