Reel & Brand
Our Chefs butcher fresh fish and meat on premises, which helps us offer the freshest possible product and making it possible to offer affordable seafood and fare from the land. Come hungry and you will not be disappointed. We are set up for groups and are a perfect spot for parties and events. Come listen to music and dance the night away on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.
We look forward to see you soon!
There must have been some changes here since our last visit. We used to order a whole fish dish, which was delicious enough to make the trek from Oakland. Sadly, it's no longer on the menu. In fact, many items on the menu were not available. Nothing notable or standout on the menu, taking it off the destination Restaurant list. Sorry guys!
Yes, new owner since February 2019. Lots of updates and additions to the menu, now Reel & Brand, where the surf meets the turf. We added lots of meat dishes, Prime Rib weekends, for example. Also updates the fish selections. You also dined with us the week of the power outage in Sonoma. We were one of only 2 restaurants in town open during the 3 day power outage, and yes, we ran out of a lot of food, serving so many extra meals to folks. Come back again, now we have power and our normal menu!
It was fine. Nice outside dining
Thank you, come back soon and we will work on that 4th ****
Sadly, we couldn't be there because of the PG&E power outage. But, will definitely try again. My friends have been raving about it! Sorry, I couldn't even leave a message about not showing for the reservation.
We sat outside on a beautiful afternoon in Sonoma. Mac was our server and he was terrific. Friendly, helpful and great to chat with. Definitely will be back!
Thank you Judi! Have a great day and see you soon.
This is poorly done bar food. Great place for drinks and live music, but expect marginal food at best. Frozen, pre-shucked oysters that were frozen in the center is a great example.
HELLO LOCAL.. Our oysters are fresh and harvested by Drakes Bay Oysters and delivered on a regular basis, so we can shuck and serve them fresh!! They do live in Ice in our cooler, thats the best way to keep them until they are devoured by our guests. We do over 300 oysters a weekend. Come back soon!
Love this place!
I have worked in restaurants, in the past. I understand when business is slow, some servers lose their energy. Our server was not attentive or personable. He never came back with the water refill, we requested.
It was a lovely evening outside on the deck. I had guests from NYC, with me. We chose the venue, since it is dog friendly. They brought their sweet, well mannered dog. The food was well received by all. We enjoyed ourselves despite the lack of service.
Pleasantly surprised on our first visit. We thought the Happy Hour menu was a value and the food was very good. 100+ degree day so we could not enjoy the outside patio. But looks fun and inviting.
The food was decent, and we liked the family pride of ownership and ambiance. The service could be improved a bit. It was friendly, but a bit lack of attentiveness. We sat for awhile waiting for to have drinks ordered, and then drinks took another 15 min after being ordered. My salad came out with my meal instead of with the apps.
Great experience. We went there for a lunch. Our party had burgers, the lobster roll and fish tacos. Everyone loved their meal. Will be back again. We also want to go see the live music.
Food is average. Menu never changes. Service is very slow. Waitstaff seemed confused.
We had a large party of 9 and sat outside on the patio while a band was playing inside. Several of us had the prime rib special and enjoyed the dish. One disappointment is we had a vegan in our group and based on the menu posted in open table, there were several dished he could have, but the actual menu we were given no longer had vegan dishes except for a salad.
The outdoor seating was great although our service was very slow. We got in the habit of ordering our next round of drinks way before we wanted them to have them arrive just in time. The burger was the favorite of our group!
We went on a beautiful night and got to enjoy the patio for dinner and listen to some wonderful live music. I had the spicy margarita as a break from wine tasting and it was perfection! We shared the tempura fried shrimp to start and they were very good. They came with 3 sauces to mix and match. The server was great and helped me decide on my entree while we were ordering. My husband got the shrimp tacos and I had the halibut. It was one of the best servings I've had. It came with mushrooms & asparagus, a creamy buerre blanc sauce, and a lemony potato croquette which was very unique and so delicious. We would definitely come back!
Consistently good food
Casual and laid-back serving primarily to locals. Excellent food (and generous portions) and friendly, helpful service. Amazing patio for outdoor dining, as well as a large indoor dining room (often with live music!) and a full bar at the entrance. Great vibe and super-enjoyable!
Crazy, chaotic, understaffed.
My dinner was good but arrived 30 minutes before my other table mates.
Hope issues can be addressed soon.
Ambiance is great. Outdoor seating, there was a band. The service, on the other hand, was not great. We arrived at 6:20pm. We were seated with no silverware. Our drink order was missing a drink. When we were finally ready to order is the time we found out there was indeed a kids menu. We were not given one, but were told that there were things like grilled cheese and a burger. Um, ok, I guess she will have grilled cheese instead of the super pricey adult entree options we were going to order. We got our appetizer after an hour. We asked for bread 3 times and instead of being told that they don't have baskets of bread, we were served 5 small pieces of toast and charged $2 for it. They did not bring our meal out until almost 8:30pm. Over an hour and a half wait (after it took long to place an order) for a salad and some burgers. By the time we got our food the place was almost deserted. And we got a salmon salad instead of the grilled salad entree we ordered. By that point, though, we were just happy to have food to eat and did not complain to anyone. We just ate, paid and left. Quite a shame because it seemed like a nice spot. Will not be going back.
We went to see some local music and have an early dinner on a Sunday afternoon. The music was great. But it ended there. We weren't seated -- simply ignored. Finally sat down with a group also there for music. No wait staff ever approach us. People went to the adjacent bar to get drinks (nice beer selection).
Still no table attention. Finally walked up to the place where orders were being input from other tables and the waitress said "oh, that's my table. I'll take your orders here!" Well, she wrote something down. We never saw most of our order. Drinks from the happy hour menu were watery. Wings were cold and arrived with wrong sauce and waited almost an hour to get them. Ate them anyway. Fisherman's stew was great. Fish and chip entrees never arrived--even after we asked about it. Had to chase her down to get a check. Paid with cash to avoid any more waiting.
Nobody ever checked on our table--it was self-service for us. Clearly a huge lack of training, no team work at all. If they aren't ready for a crowd (?) with music (maybe 40 people in the whole place) don't have it. But it's obviously a management issue--not the individual servers.
Maybe we will try again at a quieter (?) time. Fisherman's stew gave promise that the kitchen can do better. But it'll be awhile...
Good night. Comfortable. Good drinks. Good food. Later music. They didn't have the best service, only had one drink. They need more people.
Service wasn’t even service. 20 minutes for a beer margarita, water and the worlds worst Shirley temple. Food was mediocre. The lobster roll was garbage. Unapologetically bad service. We were there for almost two hours and 10 minutes of that was spent actually eating.
Horrible service. Placed our order and didn’t see the waitress again until we left. I never received my drink and it took 45 minutes for our food to arrive. No one checked on us until we complained and they offered a round of free drinks which they never brought us. Really embarrassing and pathetic. Not sure I’ve ever had worse service at a restaurant.
The food was great , the music was first rate too !
We had a new waitress who was very accommodating. She allowed us time to figure out our order, eat our meal and relax afterwards without rushing us at all. On a Friday night no less. Highly recommend. Look forward to returning. I ordered the shrimp and steak and both were delicious. Companions’ meals of fish n chips and RS salad with steak were tasty, too.
Sunday dinner on the patio could not have been more delightful. A bluegrass band was performing, but the volume was just right. Food was delicious and the setting couldn't have been better. A nice casual vibe. A bit under-staffed, but that's will get straightened out, I am sure.
We tried the ahi tuna which needed some zip flavor-wise but was good fish. Never had deep fried sushi before so that was interesting and the shrimp were good. The band was just getting tuned up so during that period conversation was impossible.
Food is Always great and for a good value. Noise level depends on if there is entertainment, so be in the know. Service at the bar was great, however our waiter in the dining room was awful. Basically disappeared half way into our meal so we had to keep asking another server for assistance. She had a terrible attitude to go with her lack of attentiveness as well. Will definitely return as one lousy server isn’t a reason for us not to go again. but will know who not to have wait on us!
Have been several time and had not been impressed. Talking with a friend and telling him of my past visits he recommended next time to ask to sit in Dom's section. I ended up trying it with a party of 6 and made the reservation asking for Dom's section. This was the best visit here and the whole perception of the Reel has changed. The food was warm not hot. Drinks and the service was fantastic. We ended up leaving during the live music, it's just too loud for the venue. Dom was a hit and hoping to have him as our server next visit.
This is the second time we have been there in 2 weeks; the server was either overwhelmed with either too many tables or something! 2 orders were served and we had to wait nearly 5 minutes for the other 3. One salad was prepared correctly and one did not have one of the main ingredients, no pesrs. After receiving our check, she did not come back, I eventually took the payment in myself to be processed.
I have enjoyed the food, but the service needs to be more attentive. I have taken a total of 13 people in 2 visits and I think they need to add staff to provide a better experience.
A buzzy bar, an indoor dining room with live music many nights, and a large, tree-shaded patio for warm summer days. Add terrific food, a nice wine list, very reasonable prices, and some of the friendliest service around. The result: the most pleasant, most authentic restaurant in Sonoma!
Great hospitality, terrific food, and a wonderful environment. Highly recommended.
We had reservations for 4 at 7:45 ....we were served at 9:30. Finally, they told us that 2 of their chefs had quit.
Kitchen very slow. Very limited menu, they were out of crab.
Very much a local spot. Food is inexpensive for the area. The open table reviews greatly overrated the restaurant. Burger and fries type of place
This must be under new ownership, because it's not at all what we have experienced in the past. The menu has changed, the service was hugely disappointing, and taking a 20% tip for 6 people when not deserved is really unacceptable.
They were under staffed. Waiters absolutely did the best they could under the circumstances. They did comp us two beers because of the delays which was much appreciated.
Not what we expected at all. Great. But weird
I’ve been here before and it is normally good. We came for dinner and the comedy show. Unfortunately, they were short staffed or unprepared for the crowd. We waited over an hour for our food. It was not very hot when it arrived. It was good. The waitstaff is great. I will be back, hopefully it was just a bad night for the kitchen.
The people there are fantastic! Place is fun! I grew up going there and it’s nice to see it hoping! Again! Outside dining is great... special events, like comedy night are wonderful!
The food at the new Reel & Brand is so much better! The owner really cares about the quality of the food and it shows. The patio setting is very relaxing. We will definitely be back.
