   We all really enjoyed our food and the wait staff was very friendly. My biggest complaint was that most of the keg's had kicked and so we only had to beers on tap to choose from which was disappointing (there were plenty of bottled options).

    Our food was delicious and the service was excellent! I suspect the seating upstairs would be quieter than downstairs. The live music made it hard to hear the conversation at my table. Still - I 100% recommend!

    The beer here as fabulous but the food is mediocre and food service was slow. Table of 7 people took more than 10 minutes before first dinner plate was placed and last plate was placed. I understand the kitchen is small but the menu is not that extensive that they could not serve all meals together. Again, the beer is great so it is worth a visit for that.

I stopped by your table several times to inquire how the food came out without a complaint. Parts of your group even came up to the kitchen as they were leaving to thank the cooks for a great meal.     This is the best German restaurant we’ve found in the DMV. The schnitzel and the wurst are amazing. Nice cocktails too! Unfortunately the red cabbage was awful - mushy texture and no seasoning. I make much better red cabbage. The sautéed sauerkraut was nice though. The other disappointment was the Apple strudel - it must have been microwaved because the pastry was kind of thick and wet, not flaky at all. Again - I’ve made better at home. The restaurant is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood but it’s a bit strange because there are 2 indoor dining areas that are not connected so the servers are constantly going in and out of the front door to get to the upstairs seating area. We were unfortunately seated in the worst table by the kitchen and the front door, so we kept getting cold drafts. There is also an outdoor patio when the weather is warmer. The kitchen was clearly overwhelmed and service was pretty slow last night but that wasn’t the case on prior visits. Overall it wasn’t our best experience.

    As a frequent customer, I was incredibly disappointed and frustrated. After almost 30 minutes of sitting at our reserved table, we were never give water, given a drink menu, or even approached or waited on. My partner and I decided to wait for 30 minutes before we saw others being sat after us and waited on promptly after seating so we left to another local restaurant. We love this place and are moving from the area soon so we decided we’d love to visit before then, but this experience was frustrating and leaves a bad taste in our mouths. It’s usually worth it and the only reason we’d be back is because this place has never let us down before.

    Service was outstanding, food was great and drinks were on point. The only small complaint is that we were put upstairs and it’s just not the same vibe. It’s very bland and the bar takes up most of the space up there. Would love to see more effort into that space to make it feel as quaint as downstairs. I’ll know to request to sit downstairs next time.

    The Prices are good. Do not expect classic german cooking. While the flavors are good. there is certainly a different flavor profile. The red cabbage was a little on the dry side. The sauerkraut was definitely dried out. I like the flavor. I Think they cooked it on a griddle to get rid of some of the juices and crisp it up as parts were browned.

    Within the first hour that we were seated, and while the table was full of food and drink, the hostess came to ask us 3 times if we were "ready to leave". I find this really weird and incredibly rude. We were a table of four and ordered a lot of food and drinks which should be a good thing for the restaurant. After the 3rd time that she came to ask us if we were ready to leave (while we still have food and drinks on the table), I gave up and just ask our waiter for a check and to-go boxes. By the way, our waiter was nice. The only person that makes this a really bad experience is the hostess. I will not return.

    Went for restaurant week. Heard about the restaurant opening a few years ago, and then forgot about it, but saw it listed on the Bmore County Restaurant Week website. Very glad we went- it’s only like 10 minutes from our house. The food was very good- even like just the salad had yummy pretzel croutons, very fresh greens and tasty dressing. I like that they have a number of vegetarian and vegan options. The eggplant “schnitzel” was really tasty. So were the sides and the dessert and mixed drink I had. Real “stick to your ribs” filling while also being a little bit gourmet. (Microgreens topping the eggplant was a nice touch). Price points are affordable. Wish they’d add a veggie “wurst” sausage to the menu, but there’s still plenty to order for veggies and/or vegans and/or people who don’t eat beef or pork.

    We try this place about once a year. It has so much potential to be a really charming neighborhood spot, but it just seems to miss the mark. It is very small, but there are so many servers and runners that they are kind of in the way. Although they seem to have a lot of help, the service just isn't that great. They all seem to be congregating together and not really working. The food is definitely German. It is pretty good, but perhaps a little more variety in the offerings might be an improvement. Very nice wine list, but for a neighborhood place with moderately priced dishes, the wines seem to be pretty expensive. I've never been there in the warm weather, but maybe that would be better because they have a lot of outdoor space. I really want to like it, but it is just missing something. Maybe better management.

    The service was prompt, friendly, and helpful. We were surprised at the reasonable prices on the menu. The food was hot and delicious (schnitzel all the way!). Don't skip dessert - the black cherry ice cream cookie is amazing! Definitely on our list to return.

    We had a wonderful time visiting the Rathskeller with family from out of town. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. The pork schnitzel kebab is definitely my new favorite. Can't wait to go back for more.

    Rathskeller has amazing food in a fun and festive atmosphere. The food is authentically German with modern twists - and absolutely delicious. The beverage menu is also amazing. The service is always fantastic, and the portions are big. We love this place for both date night and family dinner. 100% recommend!!

    Wanted to try someplace new and this didn't disappoint! Overall pretty authentic German food! The pretzel and potato cakes were outstanding, the wursts and eggplant schnitzel were delicious, and the two desserts were both very tasty!

    This is the best German food we have found outside of Germany. Also, novel methods serving to the table: the side dishes come already in a to go box, and the platters come on a small baking tray. Definitely make a reservation, even on a weeknight. There is a small seating capacity and fills up fast. The only one small problem, our whole family drinks seltzer/soda water. They were limited in their supply of that, and had trouble giving us refills. Not really a big deal, but worth mentioning so it can be corrected. We just discovered this restaurant, and have already been there twice in 30 days.

    My husband and I ordered the Jägerschnitzel and the chicken cordon bleu. The Rathskeller had excellent German-style food, but lacked the ambiance we have come to expect from authentic German cuisine. There was German hip-hop music, German beer selection, and cuisine but very little else to show a commitment to German culture/authenticity. The atmosphere was cold and very basic. Maybe if we had sat at the bar, it might have been more inviting. This beautiful location and excellent food could have been presented in a more welcoming atmosphere and - especially with several staff member standing around chatting - more customer friendly

    Excellent schnitzels and sides of red cabbage and spaetzle. Service was prompt. It was a little loud for conversation, but who wants to talk when you're enjoying such good food anyway?

    Our party of 5 just came in for beer and lite fare. The German draft beer was excellent and the appetizers were tasty and well presented. Our server was friendly and did a good job in keeping the beer flowing without being pushy
