I was super excited to eat here, I love Indian food and friends had recommended the it. Unfortunately, the service, price, and general ambiance made it a really poor experience. The waiter was really intense—he was rigid about when and how we ordered, made it clear that sharing was not encouraged, and was unkind to a trainee waiter shadowing him. We felt bullied into ordering more food than we needed, the service was sooooo slow (2 hours for two courses), and the restaurant was dark with loud music. Most of the food was delicious, but it was very expensive.

Lovely spot with elegant decor. Entrees and appetizers outstanding, especially the Tiger prawns and Black Cod. Allow plenty of time to savor each dish.

TL;DR: it’s a different experience from the previous incarnation of the restaurant, but I think they’re doing a great thing of trying to introduce South Indian fine dining. The pumpkin themed Halloween-special menu was a blast. Everything was fresh, well cooked and tasted great. We came in on Halloween without realizing that the restaurant was doing a special tasting menu for the occasion (pumpkin as the main ingredient). My wife was apprehensive as she didn’t like the idea of so much pumpkin but safe to say she came away with new appreciation for pumpkin. We also no longer live in Seattle so didnt remember anything about Rasai other than that we used to like going there ~1.5 years. We learned that the restaurant had changed hands and was under new leadership. We are happy to report that despite the changes to the menu, the quality of the meal and the overall experience were just as good as we remember them. Kudos to the chef and the team on taking a risk. Keep doing what you guys are doing!

Unfortunately the food isn't great, they try to hard with the service. It's also way overpriced.

We brought out-of-town guests to dinner at Rasai. The outdoor area was well-covered and heated. The herbal tea was tasty and my friend enjoyed the Midori Milk Punch cocktail (it was interesting hearing their process of incorporating yogurt into drink). My partner is vegan and what we like about this restaurant is there are a lot of options for vegetarians/vegans (e.g, he enjoyed the Ulundhu vadai - thalaki rasam soup and the Chennai sundal - black chickpea first courses). We all had 1st-3rd course options as well as dessert. The menu has recently changed since they brought on a new chef, and the Indian regional food (Neo-Chettinad) at Rasai is different from other Indian restaurants I've been to. It was a little on the pricey side, but we did spend 3+ hours there catching up with friends, and the servers routinely checked on us and provided additional background/information on the food. My friends said this was the best Indian restaurant they had been to, and I'm glad we chose to eat there!

We truly enjoyed our dinner and felt so well looked-after by the waitstaff. The chef came to see us, unbidden - nice touch. I ate at the restaurant that was at this location a while back and this was completely different - that was very casual or takeout, while this was fancy, delicious, complex flavors and inventive dishes. What a pleasure. Our only issue was that newly-painted odor outside, but that will be gone soon. I gave “only” 4 stars for value because it was reasonable, but not a super deal.

Intimate & chic spot for fancy twists on Indian staples w very friendly wait staff that have no problem giving explanations on dishes & even making a dish vegan @ my gf's request. Great spot for a date night but be aware that you will spend some $$$ as it is pretty pricey.

Such weirdly poor service I wonder if they were just off for the night. Restaurant was quiet and staff seemingly not in the weeds but just completely innattentive. They had to "work on" just getting us sparkling water for over 20 minutes. We ordered a nice bottle of wine... The wine "service" was very clumsy, waiter dropped the towel twice. Then, since they don't have ice buckets they had to keep the wine chilling in the back, which is fine, except they continued to neglect filling our glasses until we stood from the table to get attention. Feels like it had to be an aberration because there is no way they could stay in business with service that comically poor.

We ate on the outdoor patio and had a lovely dinner. We had the ghee roasted cauliflower, burrata salad, wild mushroom korma, banana leaf wrapped halibut, bread sampler, kulfi, and tiramisu. The ghee roasted cauliflower was one of the best cauliflower appetizers my spouse has had. The acidity of the salad dressing was well balanced by the burrata. The wild mushroom korma was beautifully plated with the mushrooms in the middle and the flavors were also well balanced. We were glad we ordered the bread sampler, since the naan and paratha went well with the korma (which did not come with other starches). The halibut was also beautifully plated, cooked to just the right amount of tenderness, and was a nice portion size (perhaps around 4-6 oz). The halibut topping was a combination of fruity/savory/spicy and went well with the halibut (which also came with saffron sushi rice). The kulfi was pleasantly more on the spicy/savory vs. sweet side (although the rice vermicelli noodles underneath were too sweet for me), while the tiramisu was an interesting and delicious Indian take on the dessert (not coffee-flavored, but instead saffron-flavored). Everyone we interacted with was friendly and interested in explaining more about the dishes, with service done in a timely manner. Overall, the food was delicious, with well-balanced flavors, and we had a very pleasant experience.

We have enjoyed the dinner menu many times, but did not like the brunch menu -- the selection and the quality of the food. It tasted old, stale. We also didn't like the fact that we couldn't get naan at brunch.

Food wasn’t good. Very average taste. We only liked the kababs. For 20$ though, there was not much value in just 3 very small pieces of kabab. Poori aloo was very bad. Poori was made like bhatura. Really really thick and stretchy. Chefs needs to open a recipe page for poori and re learn what poori is.

stop trying to make indian food super fancy fusion. your sauces/curry/spices are delicious, but execution of some ingredients/dishes are truly horrifying. the octopus tentacle in the seafood stew was tough as rubber and skin was still on providing a nasty filmy slim that i had to peel off myself... try blanching to peel the skin off the whole octopus and then tenderizing it with a mallet! the waffle had a weird chewy consistency and it was hard like a stale crouton. But waiter, Apam, was AWESOME and the drinks were delicious, especially the combu

My experience here was subpar and unmemorable. The place lacks ambience+experience. It was quiet and empty for a saturday 6 PM reservation (probably a sign in hindsight). The menu looked exciting and effort was made to make the food seem “elevated” but the taste/flavours were “just okay.” It looked fancier than it tasted. A bit of a let down considering the nice food presentation and the prices… I also specifically made the reservation saying it was for a birthday celebration and I also sent a reminder message that it was for a birthday. I don’t expect any “special birthday treat” but at least they can inquire and ask if its a special occasion and or say a quick “happy birthday” greeting. We didnt finish our meals (lamb biryani, halibut) and the side bread platter, they only wrapped up the biryani. Did not ask if we wanted to bring the bread home. The service and experience here needs more work. I would not recommend and I don’t feel its worth a return unless changes are made.
