The varied menu focuses on modern interpretations of classic dishes such as Traditional Steak Tartare, Caesar Salad and Roasted Bone Marrow, in addition to several cuts of beef from legendary New York butchers Milton Abeles and Strassburger Meats.
The restaurant's side dishes alone merit a trip with innovative house specialties, including Corn Crème Brulee, Gnocchi and Cheese and Edamame with Mint Salt. The Quality Meats chefs are Craig Koketsu (Lespinasse, Stars) as executive chef and Cory Colton (Lespinasse, St.Regis) on pastry. The restaurant has a warm industrial atmosphere, created by award-winning AvroKO and features intimate dining areas, a comfortable bar area with well-stocked charcuterie bar.
What Insiders Are Saying
Even though it's in Midtown, this multi-level meat market serves up one of our favorite steaks in town, and it's not what you might expect from a steakhouse in the area.
One of the top 3 steak restaurants in the city. Love it here!
For now the best steak house in NYC and all of the ones in Boston
New favourite in NYC!! Fabulous ribeye’s, great service!
The food and service were great! We especially loved the bone marrow! It was a birthday celebration dinner for my husband and they did a nice job in creating a dessert with his name on the plate so that was a really nice touch. My only suggestion is the greeting at the front while not rude, could be a touch warmer.
That's awesome! We are grateful for your kind words and we can’t wait to share this with the rest of our team. Looking forward to seeing you soon! Joel K. Oliver Guest Relations Manager Quality Meats NYC
The food was good and service was ok. Overpriced, and loud. I would recommend but as a one time experience. Some people say it’s to die for, not in my opinion. Overall, the waiter staff was inattentive, empty water glasses for a while and slow to check if food was to our liking. The check took too long to come out and be taken. The noise is very loud and they sit you right on top of the people next to you. So much so that you have to physically move the tables just so people can get in and out of their seats. Also, the seats were very uncomfortable. Solid wood with no cushions. I had to remove my wallet and put in my front pocket.
Now the food. It was good but not excellent. Temperature was correct but was under seasoned and a little bland. We got the bone in rib steak. Too much garlic in the spinach for my taste. Had the bacon and peanut butter appetizer. Thick cut bacon was overly fatty though peanut butter was nice. The price is to be expected for New York but still very pricy in comparison. The total experience lacked enjoyment due to noise, deficient service, and over under on the food.
Bestes steak ever!!!
Beautifully prepared filets!! The slab bacon appetizer was decadent, but delicious!!!! Highly recommend the wine pairing dinner - a great value and a LOT of food!
Thanks a lot for the kind words! The Grilled Bacon with Jalapeno & Peanut Butter is STILL my favorite after all these years. Can't wait to see you back soon! Joel K. Oliver Guest Relations Manager Quality Meats NYC
I experienced a very patronising out dated attitude at Quality Meats. We were two women dining alone, they have an extensive wine list and we chose a nice red. Half way through dinner they put the wine in an ice bucket by accident, then when I noticed our server insisted it would be okay and insisted on continuing to pour it but it was freezing cold. It was extremely patronising and wonder if he would have done this if we had been two men dining instead.
They tried to rectify and replaced with a new wine, I appreciate that accidents happen but it was the way they dealt with it, very belittling as if we were in the wrong. I spoke to the Manager at the end if the evening and asked for his card, he tried to just give me the general card for the restaurant with no email address on it not his personal details so I insisted on him writing his details down, this too was avoidance and I felt fobbed off.
I would never return to this restaurant or any of their affiliated restaurants because of their attitude, it was not a comfortable dining experience.
Our waiter was nice and efficient.
All our food was cold.
We were really disappointed as we live nearby.
Our guest was from Palo Alto nd used to quality food Sorry.
Our main waiter wasn’t friendly or attentive at all. We received our appetizers before we received our drinks and we had to remind him (they were just sodas) We weren’t drinking any alcohol and you could tell that bothered him (as we weren’t running up the bill excessively) he stopped by the table in total maybe 2x the rest of the night and one of those times was to bring the check. His assistant was GREAT however and made up for his severe shortcomings.
Fourth time there. Always respectful & a great time. Service can be a bit slow, but once the food arrives. Nothing matters.
Grilled Bacon, peanut butter & jalapeño
That’s so good to hear, Steven! We are grateful for your kind words and we can’t wait to share this with the rest of our team. Looking forward to your seeing you all soon! Joel K. Oliver Guest Relations Manager Quality Meats NYC
Definitely not the best steak I've ever had. Quality Meats in the Village is much better. And the space is labyrinthian, lots of stairs, on the dark side, and very noisy. They do however make a great Margarita.

Place was tight and noisy is the only bad thing. But the food and service was outstanding.
I felt our seating arrangement was very cramped.
Waiter forgot to top up our wine & they were very slow with the check !!
Overall we didn’t have a good experience and thought it was totally over priced also !
QM has attentive Staff and great food! We were there with young children and it was a great experience
Michael- We're glad to hear you and your family had a great time celebrating your daughters birthday here! We are grateful for your kind words and we can’t wait to share this with the rest of our team. Looking forward to your next visit! Joel K. Oliver Guest Relations Manager Quality Meats NYC
We love this restaurant and the service. Of course the food and wine was delicious. Thank you. Until next time.
Place was loud, service tried to shamelessly upsell us,
The even added in a dessert we didn’t order.
Had good times there before but unlikely to return to dine there. Except maybe to the bar for a drink and a quick steak. Disappointing.

Amazing aged ribeye bone in
Terrific service, very knowledgeable and professional staff. Food was delicious and served hot, just awesome. Nothing better than a steak that is hot. Top notch sides and wine 🍷
All was great but got surf and turf and the lobster was very tough. DONT get surf and turf. Steak was great!
Delicious and excellent service!!
Waiter couldn’t break smile even if he tried - I’d say he’d been working there too long. Food took over an hour to come out. Manager came over and offered us complimentary cocktails for the wait - these cocktails ended up on our bill which we then had to dispute. When the halibut arrived it was cold and they offered to “heat it up” on the grill after we had waited an hour for it in the first place. Everyone knows fish is only good hot and fresh not cold and reheated. Overall, really disappointed in my $300 dinner. I’ve been frequenting this restaurant for a decade and I finally think it’s time has come.

Perfect! But noisy.
Loved our experience tonite! Food was fantastic, & service was great.

The food was amazing!
Food was very good and service was excellent. The only disappointment was the cocktail - next time I’ll order wine. Would definitely go back and recommend to friends.
Hey Maya! Thank you for the kind words, we loved hearing what a great experience you had with us. Come visit us anytime!
This was a great Saturday night dinner out while visiting NYC for the weekend. The food was fantastic and though things started slowly as we were seated shortly after several larger parties, the service was very attentive and more than made up for the slow start. Suggestions by the wait staff were spot on. There was a good variety of wine choices covering all price points. We shared an appetizer and the servers made sure to bring extra plates. The filet mignon was very well prepared as suggested by the waiter and my wife had an awesome veal chop. Both were top notch. We enjoyed several sides (gnocci with cheese and Yorshire creamed spinach) which were delicious and sized right to share. Too bad there was no room for dessert as the choices looked great.
The restaurant set up is kind of quirky with all of the stairs and levels. It is a little on the dark side but it just added to the ambiance. With several larger groups there were times that the noise level was a little high but throughout the meal we were able to have a good conversation in normal tones.
We will certainly be back with our next trip to town.
Wow, thank you so much, Mark!! We really appreciate your detailed feedback. Looking forward to seeing you the next time you're in town! Joel K. Oliver Guest Relations Manager Quality Meats NY
Great food and atmosphere. Steak cooked to perfection!!
Très bonne ambiance, cuisine au top, je recommande vivement
C'est fantastique! Nous vous sommes reconnaissants pour vos aimables paroles et nous sommes impatients de les partager avec le reste de notre équipe. Dans l'attente de votre prochaine visite!
Great restaurant and excellent steaks, although very loud
Had to move seats as the table next to us was extremely loud and boisterous. The table on the other side of them also moved. $68 bone in Filet had absolutely no flavor. Temperature was fine, just no flavor.
Delicious food, lots of good choices on the menu, great ambience.
Service was excellent. Atmosphere was fantastic. The steak was pretty average. The sides were too small to share. The prices outrageous even for even Manhattan. It was an important dinner but unfortunately the place didn’t deliver. I would love to have the $360 (for three) back.
Great food and service. Many options to choose fro. The Bacon appetizer was outrageous.
Had the special and was very disappointed. The filet had little flavor and the lobster mediocre. Service was good and the bar top shelf.
Thank you for your comments, Dave. Rest assured that I have passed this on to our culinary team. We hope you'll give us another chance to WOW you! Joel K. Oliver Guest Relations Manager Quality Meats NY
Great steak house food and wine list - busy, high energy, lots of steps...
This place was awesome. Went for our anniversary with our 2 young children. They couldn't have been more accommodative. Food was great. Get the bacon app. And the short rib entree was incredible - it's for 2 but it can feed 4. Don't miss the cream corn brule or the broccoli bites. And the desserts were delicious. Service was perfect and all things considered, prices were reasonable. Energetic vibe made it even more fun. We'll be back.
