The varied menu focuses on modern interpretations of classic dishes such as Traditional Steak Tartare, Caesar Salad and Roasted Bone Marrow, in addition to several cuts of beef from legendary New York butchers Milton Abeles and Strassburger Meats.
The restaurant's side dishes alone merit a trip with innovative house specialties, including Corn Crème Brulee, Gnocchi and Cheese and Edamame with Mint Salt. The Quality Meats chefs are Craig Koketsu (Lespinasse, Stars) as executive chef and Cory Colton (Lespinasse, St.Regis) on pastry. The restaurant has a warm industrial atmosphere, created by award-winning AvroKO and features intimate dining areas, a comfortable bar area with well-stocked charcuterie bar.
What Insiders Are Saying
Even though it's in Midtown, this multi-level meat market serves up one of our favorite steaks in town, and it's not what you might expect from a steakhouse in the area.
Had to wait too long for s table. Service was slow and food was good but nothing I would run back for. Pretty disappointing to be honest.
Great food, great service! We would definitely come again.
wonderful place, excellent quality service, wonderful waiters
The food, drinks, & service were impeccable as always.
Ordered surf and turf. Filet steak cooked and tasted perfect. Lobster was stringy and tough. Informed server and server gave us complimentary dessert. Would come back.
It was hard to imagine that the $60+ rib eye could have been prime meat. Tough as shoe leather. Dry. No visable marbling. Overcooked. Requested warm pink in the middle, was *grey* in the middle. Burned asparagus with no asparagus taste, perhaps hidden by some spice. Potatoes that tasted like lavender with slimy onions and super smokey bacon cubes cooked to rock like hardness. All consumed while hemmed in by drunks shouting in an echo chamber. Good wine and excellent lobster cocktail at very high prices.
Absolutely outstanding. The service was comfortably the best we had in New York City and the food was amazing!! It was expensive but worth every single dollar!! Could not recommend more.
Extremely slow service. Took almostbtwo hours for four surf and turfs at 6pm on a Thursday
Food was good but not hot. The steak was served at room temperature and the fish was a bit over cooked.
Great Food, interior and service. Would definitely recommend
Great restaurant! Well spaced/private-like tables!
Only negative, there were homeless people outside which made for a semi-unsafe Lyft/Uber waiting environment. Especially when one of them wouldn’t let go of my hand he shook when I tried to get into my ride.
Great service. A little loud when first seated but as tables emptied was better. Food was excellent. Fun evening.
Having eaten at QM in Miami and NYC several
times, after this visit, I will NEVER return! The service was good, but the food itself was mediocre, at best, and went downhill as the courses progressed. The dipping sauces for the oysters were just STRANGE—no mignonette. The Cesar salad was missing minced anchovies in the dressing and whole anchovies. The server neglected to let us know we should ask for them. Then our entrees came out COLD, and the Veal Chop, which we expected to come out unadulterated, like the steaks typically do, had a topping which contained spicy Kimchi—which was not mentioned on the menu. I would advise EVERYONE to steer clear of QM. It’s no longer quality, simply an EGREGIOUSLY overpriced venue for for a POOR quality product. There are too many great restaurants in NYC to trouble yourself with this one. Perhaps this is the reason that QM closed up in Miami Beach.
Great 50th Birthday dinner!
Quality Meats is a great looking restaurant with good service and a fun vibe. The only thing that was lacking was the steak itself - we order the porterhouse and the strip was way too tough for a $120 steak. The wine list is also on the pricier side - tough to find a decent bottle for less than $140. Overall, if I were to come back, I’d definitely scale back my purchasing - go with a more basic cut of steak and keep my expectations at bay. It’s not a bad place, just doesn’t match the meat quality of other NY steakhouses.
- The restaurant was far, far too loud. I had to scream at my wife...and she was seated right next to me.
- The food was ordinary at best, certainly not worth the prices charged.
- The wine was warm.
- Both our meats were overcooked.
- We'll never go back nor will we ever recommend it to anyone.
My favorite steakhouse in the world. The bacon/peanut butter/jalapeño appetizer is amazing. And a great wine list.
The wine week person left toward the beginning and didn’t say anything - could have been way better. Used to be way better.
What was lacking was the service. I felt the servers should’ve been more attentive for the price. We sat (party of 8) at the table for almost 8 minutes before anyone came to give us water or menus. Otherwise, once food got ordered, then service started rolling more smoothly. All of the food was excellent!
Kudus to our server Kerry(Carey) very engaging and knew his job well. The staff worked well together. After having steak all over the world this was the best I have had. 24 oz rib steak added me a side of brandy glazed cherry sauce. Almost embarrassed my wife by picking up the bone to chew the rest of the meat off of it(I didn’t). It was that good.
Overpriced. Better off having a $25 burger. Could not find the value of my $62 steak. Took a Malbec by the glass at $17 which was probably off a bottle of $3. Probably is just the being in Manhattan.
It took too long for food to be served. And it was too crowded and noisy. Everything is perfect other than those. The most amazing steak in my life.
Good food, adequate service (had to wait about half hour between salad and main course)
Without question one of the best steaks we’ve had. Food was fantastic across the board - absolutely would make a point to go back when in town.
It was a good experience. Food was good but they never brought our sauce for the steak and they charged us for it. I didnt say anything cause it was just $3. Appetizer crab cake and bone marrow was delicious. The porterhouse for 2 was alright. And it was nice of them to make the dessert on the house due to birthday celebration. Overall good experience and we would come back.
Siempre que estamos en Ny vamos a Quality Meats. Nos encanta !!! Me atrevo a decir que es mi restaurante favorito en la ciudad . Espero seguir llendo cada vez que venga a la Ciudad felicidades !!!!
The food and service were good, but I was very disappointed that they are not ADA compliant. I recently had surgery and am temporarily required to use a cane. There were multiple steps i had to navigate to get to any table, and even more steps to go down to the restroom. None of the hosts seems concerned or offered any assistance.
Great meat as usual. The one issue we had were the baby potatoes which were actually sweet. Everything else we had was excellent.
Unfortunately the service completely overshadowed the food. Our server was belittling from the beginning. We didn’t want to do any wine or cocktails which made him roll his eyes. Then we wanted to start off with a few appetizers and continue looking at the menu but apparently you have to have your full order in as if I was ordering at a fast food joint. After the apps we ended up getting the tomahawk steak and sides. I don’t remember much about the food. I remember it was good but we were just irritated with the service. We were also celebrating a birthday but ended up not even getting dessert there. We both work in fine dining and noticed the service at the other tables were great. Must have been a bad day for our server. Either way we’re not going back or recommending it unfortunately.
The best food we have ever had. This was our 2nd visit and the food was exceptional! The staff is outstanding and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Cannot wait to come back!
The food, tavle, server, dining wares were all so goood, but host was definitely rude.
We arrived there at 5:45 for a client dinner that was to start at 6, my clients arrived at 6:30 and we got seated at that point, but they were really eager to get us out of there by 8:30 to the point that the servers kept rushing us to make our orders and at 8:25 the server arrived asking us to make our dessert orders and even offered to send us an assortment of desserts because he needed the table at 8:30. I declined to order desserts as clearly there was no way we could order, eat desserts and pay be out of there all in 5 minutes. I spoke to the GM Rodrigo about this and he said “we agreed when you a arrived that your party will leave at 8:30” .... frankly I have been to many restaurants in the city with my clients and my Open Table history is a testament of that and no seemingly upscale place where I have spent close $1K over a dinner treats people this way. The GM’s attitude was unprofessional and needless to say I will never dine there again.
Omg!! It wash the best steak house I went to!! Everything was excellent.. service and food!
We were disappointed by the service. We felt rushed.
In my opinion this place has no respect for meat. $60 filet was brought out at room temp to cold temperature. I think the steak should be at least warm. The waiter was great up until the steak was dropped off. I say dropped off because I didn’t see him for 20 mins. Therefore it was hard to raise the issue.
The waiter came back and offered to cook a new steak. The new steak was warm to hot, but the kitchen had to butterfly cut the steak to save time; therefore the second steak did not have all of the qualities you pay for when ordering a filet.
I decided to overlook the butterfly and assumed they were trying their best to do a better job (with a limited amount of time). However, after a couple of bites of the new steak I realized the steak was inedible. Because the steak had been cut in half I think they applied the same amount of salt (if not more) to each half resulting in double the amount of salt for the same size piece of meat.
I took my girlfriend for her birthday. The experience was mediocre at best. The service was not up to par. We ordered the bone marrow app. They brought us the bacon app instead, which was very good. By the time the marrow arrived we had finished the bacon and no longer wanted it. The Ribeye was ordered med rare and arrived medium. No one asked if the steak was cooked properly for 10 mins. We sent if back and ended up throwing in the towel on the place. They did take the marrow and steak off the bill. I would not recommend it. The clientele seemed very touristy and not very sophisticated.
Service was outstanding. Best steak I have ever had and they even gave us free dessert on my brother’s birthday. Would definitely recommend to a friend.
We did not have a waiting time and were seated immediately upon our arrival.
The receptionists were very welcoming and friendly.
The coat check attendant took our coats very quickly.
The food is always delicious. I always order a variety of the side dishes, which we then take home.
The waiter could have been more friendly but my husband said the waiter does not have to be friendly. He was quite professional and gave us more time to consider our choices.
The noise level is too high and we did have trouble conversing across a small table.
I would have enjoyed my food more if I could have seen it. The lighting level is so low and the shadows cast by the lighting so dense that I could barely see my dinner companions much less my food or read the menu.
