The varied menu focuses on modern interpretations of classic dishes such as Traditional Steak Tartare, Caesar Salad and Roasted Bone Marrow, in addition to several cuts of beef from legendary New York butchers Milton Abeles and Strassburger Meats.
The restaurant's side dishes alone merit a trip with innovative house specialties, including Corn Crème Brulee, Gnocchi and Cheese and Edamame with Mint Salt. The Quality Meats chefs are Craig Koketsu (Lespinasse, Stars) as executive chef and Cory Colton (Lespinasse, St.Regis) on pastry. The restaurant has a warm industrial atmosphere, created by award-winning AvroKO and features intimate dining areas, a comfortable bar area with well-stocked charcuterie bar.
What Insiders Are Saying
Even though it's in Midtown, this multi-level meat market serves up one of our favorite steaks in town, and it's not what you might expect from a steakhouse in the area.
Food and service were great, drinks were flat
Quality Meats is a gem located just south of the Park. Wonderful atmosphere. The food is exceptional as is the service. #treatyourself
Waited too long for a table
The poor service combined with a table by the kitchen and being bumped twice by waiters rushing in and out and a huge bill did not make this a great experience
I usually love Quality Meats but I was disappointed with my experience this time. When I dine at an expensive restaurant I expect the servers to be enthusiastic, highly attentive and friendly and my main server was none of the above. I also was not as impressed with my filet as my previous times at this restaurant, the first steak came out room temperature and the second while hotter was not great. Sides were fine but not memorable.
We arrived at 640 for a 645 reservation and were told that we would be seated shortly. At 720 we were seated. A polite and professional waiter took our orders and offered good advice regarding the wine list and the menu. There were several unique items on the menu which were nice finds. I ordered a fillet special. When the steak arrived I cut into it and it was a perfect medium just as I ordered. Although upon tasting it I was slightly disappointed that it had cooled. I didn’t send it back but made note off it. The dessert was fine. I will return.
Heavy on the bro —
Yes, I know a ribeye comes from a rib so do you really need to remind me the cow was that big by serving it’s rib? I mean seriously - i don’t need to see a fish’s eyes to know it’s a fish And i really don’t need to see the whole rib.
And calling me “man” 50 times is a bit much but I guess it was meant to go with the steak.
The food wasn’t much better - the crispy potatoes are that way because that’s what a gallon of oil does to an innocent potato and to serve corn creme brûlée, you really do need to burn the corn.
The burrata shouldn’t be served cold (duh) and with cranberries seemed weird.
All in all - Ruth Chris is a successful chain for good reason.
2 hours waiting and my food never arrived
Third time dining with Quality Meats, won’t be the last! Food, service and ambiance are excellent. I look forward to my next trip to NYC - grace
My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant this weekend it was recommended to us by one of his friends and we where so happy we decided to go, the food was excellent we got the porterhouse for two and it was great cooked exactly how we wanted it and was very tasty also the service was good everyone was very friendly, we will definitely be coming back.
Awesome to visit in NYC. We love the one in Miami Beach and just had to try nyc. Will return great quality.
Overall experience was good. I liked it. Just not a differentiated value in my opinion. Better New York restaurants at that price range (I.e. 4 Charles). Ribeye was good but not great.
Service was biggest issue. Just very enthusiastic waitress; must of caught her on an off day.
Great service! The only suggestion would
Be to chill their red wine. We got a few glasses of red wine and it was so warm we had to send it back
The food was delicious, service was warm and friendly and we had a great time.
Short rib for two was HUGE... and oh so good. The tomato salad is a must have. Really great experience
Great food and service.
The service and food were amazing! Absolutely made my parents 50th Anniversary celebration a dream come true. They were so happy about their visit they couldn’t stop talking about it.
Ordered the bone marrow starter.had to send it back due to it being cold.then took a future 20 mins by which time the other guest had finished there starter.the main course was just as bad.cold food all round and steak not cooked to how we asked.couldn't be bothered with dessert in the fear of ordering ice cream and it came warmed up.only saving grace was the waiter/waitress worked hard to help resurrect.meant to be a birthday meal but just didn't live up to the title.
My dining experience at Quality Meats was excellent. It was ment to be a romantic dinner for a special occasion and they made it feel that way. The meal was excellent and the wine very good
A huge disappointment.....thumbs down to the quality mule, the chopped salad, the tomato salad and sadly the low quality steaks....A $600 meal that wasn’t worth one star but you can’t go lower. We love Bowery Meat but needed something uptown....I get one error in a night but this many misses says it is time to look in the mirror as a restaurant.....
Slow to seat. They are notorious for being 30 min to an hour late seating after reservation time. Food was great. Service was great
My first time at this restaurant. Food was serve cold. Embarrassing since I was entertaining business clients.
Probably will not come back for a second visit
Had to wait 30+ minutes post reservation to be seated. Took another 25 minutes for food to come out and the worst part was that the steak was cold and the fish was overdone and not very tasty. The server tried to do the right thing by bringing out free apps, but I was really looking forward to an amazing meal.
My family and I have been coming to Quality Meats for quite some time (about 10 years) and the food was absolutely delicious, as always. The service was fast (if not a bit too fast). Our headwaiter, however, was the low point of the evening. My mother and I have several dietary restrictions, and when we kindly asked for modifications to our dishes, our waiter rolled his eyes not once but several times. He seemed incredibly bothered by our inquiries - not all the dishes listed every single ingredient and, because of our restrictions, we had to be wary of what we were putting into our bodies. We will absolutely return as we love Quality Meats, but this type of service is not what one would expect at such a fine dining establishment.
A fantastic combination of delicious appetizers (try the omfg) and delicious wines. Ask for the super Tuscans!
Awesome food and drinks. Corn créeme brûlée is a must. Service was a bit slow but full house on Tuesday night. Excellent meats and salmon was great
When I am traveling to New York, I always make time for dinner at Quality meats. Jeff Keene our server was outstanding as usual. A real treat for a casual dinner to a great place to meet a new client.
restaurant staff was excellent and the food was delicious - the bartender however was a disappointment: "i know how to make a side car, I don't know if it is any good," says the bartender - really poor service in the bar, not at all welcoming. Ambiance is ok, negative because of the negative attitude of the bartender and then the music was unpleasant - with our table right under the speaker - definitely needs a more eclectic music play list to offer broader appeal to the clientele. Spent $800 on dinner and drinks for 4 ppl and so expect a better experience overall.
Worst table in restaurant. Right by stairs, very loud. Bad for business meal.
The food was better than expected with the exception of the mushroom side dish which for my taste was too heavy on the garlic. The Foie Gras was exceptional, the crab and avocado was delicious and the aged bone-in rib steak was a treat! The service was outstanding to the point that our neighboring table had issues with a loud and crazy guest whom the comped and even offered new dishes. The guest was handled very properly although the guest was not in all of her right senses and left quickly. The ambience is very cozy and our overall experience was such that we will return on our next trip to NYC.
Overpriced. Subpar service. Awful aupoive. Ambiance is nice.
Wonderful time, food was amazing. Service was outstanding. Will be back.
Quality Meats was a nice dining experience overall; the food good and ambiance nice. However, the service was sporadic. We didn't receive entrees for quite some time and it was early on in the service of the evening, so it should have been better. Also, even though this is NYC prices, the food was very expensive. Average entree is $46, which is high. Cocktails are $18, which is high. I thought there was also too much fuss overall about what should be a simple menu. Steak houses are after all, simple.
Amazing as always
Food is always great at Quality Meats, service is on point and the ambiance is perfect. Every time I go I leave with a full belly and a happy smile. Best place for a date.
Buena comida. La carne excelente.
Amazing service. Superb streaks. Just amazing stuff.
