What Insiders Are Saying
Providence is experimental, seafood-focused fine dining that's absolutely worth the price of admission.
Had a magical double date here this week. I adore the cocktails, how knowledgeable the staff is, the presentation and quality of food. My favorites were the wagyu and raspberry sorbet with bell pepper.
We are repeat customers over many years and are delighted to witness Cimarusti's evolution as a chef. Many of the dishes this time were new, surprising, and utterly delicious!!! The service is always exemplary. The noise level is such that you can actually talk with and hear your dining companion. A wonderful evening!
The food was amazing, very clean flavors with lots of technique made for a great experience. The service was very good as well without being pretentious.
Amazing service and amazing food! Will definitely be returning!
Despite the Michelin discussion (which is a controversial rating system), I understand why this restaurant got two stars.
On the other hand, from my experience, the star rating is not fully absolute but meant to be relative to what you would “usually” expect from a restaurant in that region.
Service, presentation, ingredients, atmosphere - everything was subtle but focused.
Knowledgeable service personal that actually ate each course to guide you through the evening.
Local collaborations with other food related projects - which I am pleased to see. Not everything needs to be imported but can be sourced locally.
They have a balanced approach between creative and conservative courses. Nothing too fancy to embarrass you because you can’t eat it properly, nor frightening you because of certain polarizing ingredients or tastes.
You should definitely not be in a hurry - since you want to immerse into the meal. I personally like it not being rushed and they adapted to my personal dining tempo.
The whole dining experience took about 2.5 hours for the “smallest” tasting menu configuration together with the wine pairing. Bring probably 3-4h if you are going for the chef’s menu.
And expect a little surprise at the end of your dining experience - a very nice gesture to remember the evening the next day.
I will definitely come back to experience the chef’s menu one day. — at Providence.
One of the best meals of my life.
Superb food and outstanding service. It's an expensive restaurant, yes, but for this quality it is worth every cent.
Every aspect of our dining experience was perfect, from the wine pairings to the impeccable service, and of course the food. The flavor combinations were innovative and delicious. Truly one of the best meals we have had.
AMAZING. Definitely worth it. Phenomenal service!
We decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary and Providence made sure to make our celebration special. They made a greeting card for us. The food is superb. The ambiance and the staff is excellent. We’ve been going to to Providence for 10 years now and we’ve always had the same experience. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Amazing dining experience. Opted for the 7-course and it was just sensational
My guy and I have gone a lot of times, including the special dinners with guest chefs, but our visit this week was not great. My salmon and the duck were both off. The duck was tough (overcooked) and my salmon was stinky and just not quite right. The dessert pepper coated ice cream was also not great. Our waiter barely spoke to us. The rest of the staff was great, the sommelier is always right, and the cheese cart is always beautiful. Sadly, I do not think we will be going back soon.
Excellent service and food. They know what they need to respond to the customer.
The experience was awesome! It's definitely a place worth going to at least once in your life! The food was great with every dish unique in itself but what really stood out was the service and how they treated us with such class. From the sommelier to the various people who served us, it was such a great experience. I wish I remembered all their names to give them the proper recognition but unfortunately it's slipping my mind. Regardless, I highly recommend this place!
This restaurant remains the very best in the City of Angeles. Period...Ambiance, service, selection of alcohol, inventive menu come together seamlessly.
Birthday dinner for my significant other. Wine pairings and almost all of the courses for the chefs tasting menu were outstanding. Only weak spots:
-Wagyu “cigars” were somewhat bland and a bit greasy-tasting. The flavor and texture of the beef was lost in the casing.
-Abalone was very tough and not pleasant. In fairness, this could have been a matter of taste and not a fault of the food or preparation.
The amuse bouche and broth were nothing short of spectacular.
From a service standpoint, our server snapped at the man clearing dishes in front of our table, snatching the cleared dishes from him. It was uncomfortable to witness. Otherwise, the pacing of dishes and pairings was flawlessly-executed.
Worth every penny for the pairing of dishes and wines.
it was a super experience, great service from the team.. but more importantly, food was amazing.. from the starters till the deserts. what a great journey that was !!
Frendly service but food was not reached my expectation.
Loved the food and service! Noise level and design of dinning room will keep the third star from them.
Always an outstanding food and wine experience. The BEST restaurant in Los Angeles.
Consistently the best fine dining experience in LA!
Amazing food and service! One of the top experiences in LA. Hands down!
I will ALWAYS recommend Providence. I LOVE that place; however, the 2019 tasting menu wasn't as sublime as in the years past. There was a bit of an edge or tartness to it; it wasn't silky smooth and sublime. But maybe that was the goal. We will venture up from OC a couple times a year to dine at Providence.
Our second time there. Again, the full taster's menu (whatever they call the full multicourse meal). Expensive, but excellent. The taste and texture combinations are a treat.
There is a reason Providence is one of the best restaurants in Los Angeles, and has been for many years. The food and the service and extraordinary, simply put. We had a loud, obnoxious, pretentious pair of drunk young women sitting next to us, which was the only thing that prevented this evening from being perfect.
Wow. What an amazing meal. The dishes arrived seamlessly, exactly when you wanted them to, but not rushed. Food is sublime. A seafood lover’s dream. We’ll be back for the next special occasion!
Birthday party of 2. Food was great, almost fantastic. A little pricy wrt the food.
It's one of the best restaurants in Los Angeles by a country mile.
This is the second time we've been to Providence, and the two experiences have been the best dining experiences my wife and I have had in Los Angeles where I have resided since 1992. The service is remarkable, the food is wonderful, the way the food is presented is also a treat, and the space is very comfortable. We are fortunate to have a restaurant of this caliber in our city.
Excellent service and beautifully presented food. Quality of ingredients and the variety of cooking techniques utilized is always fun to experience for foodies.
Will definitely go back again!
Beautifully presented food, attentive service. Warrants a third Michelin star!
We had a fantastic lunch for my partner’s birthday. We were not expecting too much since it was lunch & not dinner, but everything was amazing. We were given multiple amuse bouche & all were excellent. Our starter was wonderful, the bread was phenomenal, our mains were cooked to perfection, & dessert was the perfect end. The wait staff were all wonderful. The one thing I found odd is that all food is brought in through the lobby area. That just seemed awkward to me.
The menu is spectacular--deeply imaginative and perfectly prepared, emphasizing local seafood and freshly picked vegetables. The service is simply peerless--tactful but friendly, knowledgable and efficient. This is the best overall culinary experience in Southern California, and I can't even think what might be in second place.
Treated my friend for birthday dinner. The attention to detail is incomparable. The food is amazing and the whole experience was memorable.
The very minute we walked into the building we were greeted by the staff, although we were a bit early, they put us immediately at a table. The service was impeccable, the place was beautiful and everyone made us feel at home. The food was amazing for we had chosen the Signature & Seasonal tasting menu with wine pairing and it was spaced accordingly as to not rush you. This was a great place to celebrate our 31st anniversary and would gladly return again. And, at the end of our meal, they gave us a sweet send off with a card for celebrating with them on our special day! Thank you everyone, we appreciate you!
Good，but not that good.
No competition, no equal. Outstanding.
