At Primitivo we pride ourselves on the quality and consistency of our food. We concentrate on fresh seasonal and local ingredients, buying directly from the markets in Birmingham. We have a small but well designed "open kitchen", so the menu is compact but offers good choice and changes regularly. The Restaurant menu consists of 6 starters, 8 main courses, side orders and homemade puddings. We would describe the food as Modern British with a strong Mediterranean influence. So, think roasted halibut with sunblush tomato mash and black pudding in the summer or a classic steak and kidney pudding in the winter months. The restaurant is intimate and stylish with high ceilings, gilt mirrors and exposed brickwork. It makes the perfect venue for business lunches, romantic dinners and family get-togethers.

What a find!!! I have walked past this road hundreds of times and never knew this place existed. Will definitely by visiting again. Went with 3 other people. 2 of us had sea bass which was delicious and 2 had fish and chips. Also delicious. Pistachio tiramisu was a good choice for dessert too. Wine was to die for.

The pictures make it look like a nice dining experience. Far from it - the atmosphere was way too loud - outside as we walked in punters were smoking and loud. It’s a place where people go for drinks after work rather than a nice dining experience. The food was terrible. We had fish and chips both were over cooked - broccoli was hard - the chicken burger was falling apart when my husband ate it. My brother and I had the worse chips ever. Oven cooked and hard skin we couldn’t even chew them properly. My mum’s broccoli was hard and not cooked properly at all. For a 76 year old that’s not good at all. None of us enjoyed the meal we all had food on our plates when the waitress took our plates away. She asked if we enjoyed the food and we said No sadly we didn’t and gave our feedback. She was very apologetic and asked if we would like anything else. Although the kitchen was closing at 9:30pm and it was already 9:15pm so what time did we have left to order anything and eat that late. I asked if we can have 10% off the bill. She gladly obliged as well as no service charge. Cost of bill was around £124 which was still too high for the fact that we all had alot of food on our plates when we had our plates collected. I was looking forward to this place given it’s been in Brum for 30 years. What a real let down. I wouldn’t recommend and the noise was too loud we had a poor experience overall.

Great staff, a very nice establishment doing nice food and drinks. I imagine it’s a consistently good standard, given how it’s run and the way the team looks after its guests.

Food is great but service terrible. It’s possibly because of shortage of staff. It took an hour just to place an order and an hour for food to come. It wasn’t ideal especially when you are stressed trying to get back to work!
