Food was great and the Tuesday night special was a bargain for two people. Service was a little slow, but was still a great dinner.
We eat here a lot. Food was slightly off; some dishes were under seasoned, ho hum... Drinks were fab, service was great. We’ll be back.
After sending my daughter and son in law to Poppy a few months ago to celebrate a birthday and loving it, my husband and I finally went, Friday night to celebrate our anniversary. The food was outstanding! He got the Braised Pork Shoulder Thali Plate and I had the Salish Sea Halibut. We loved both our dishes and ate every bite. We started with a Green Goddess salad and it was delicious as well. The A. Maurice Viognier wine was a nice accompaniment. Our only "complaint" (too strong a word) was a table with a young family with an out of control 3 year old. Our reservation was at 8:00pm and they arrived at the same time. If you are going to bring your toddler to a nice restaurant, bring them at 6:00. I know this was not the restaurant's fault and they were very kind to re-seat us on the opposite side of the restaurant. It definitely did not dissuade us from a 5 star review and we will definitely be back! WE LOVED IT!
We were taking 2 guests from Australia and wanted to impress them with our dinner out. When we arrived the aroma was so good. Made you look forward to the food that was coming. The food was unusual and delicious. Four of us got 2 thalis and 3 starters to share. It was more than enough food. The service was excellent. When we initially drove by the restaurant, my husband said he thought it might be closed and didn't look very nice. Once inside the décor was very nice and pleasing. We didn't eat outside but the courtyard dining looked appealing. Having parking behind the restaurant is a real plus.
Our guests were very impressed and enjoyed the evening.
I would definitely recommend it.
The menu at Poppy is interesting and offers a wide variety of unusual spices and combinations.
We had the Thali menu, which was kind of like a Pacific Northwest take on Indian food. There was a lot of variety and it was tasty.
Came for the Thali Tuesday. The eggplant fries were delicious and the two of us thought the Thali was the perfect size to share.
I was amazed and pleased with the level of service.
We sat at our table for more than 15 minutes, probably closer to 20, before a server arrived. A few minutes more, and we would have walked out. Once the food arrived, it was wonderful. But the poor service really ruined the experience.
Wonderful food and knowledgeable staff to aid in menu sections.
Fantastic food. This was the first Thali / meal based on Ayurvedic flavors that I'd ever tried and it was great. Each of the little dishes was it's own experience and then combining 2 or 3 of them together created something totally new. If you're into interesting and different food then this place won't disappoint. Portions of each thing individually are small, but altogether it's a pretty big meal. Despite being super stuffed I had to try their dessert too and it was also just as good. Really inspired me to pickup a lot of these spices to see how I can use them more in my own cooking. Super impressed with this place.
Always amazing. Always excellent. Tuesday night is a real deal.
Such diverse and delicious flavors and lovely space
We were there quite early in the evening. The food was good although the main dish and hot sides were only moderately warm. Three of the thalis were either a pickle dish or a salad which makes the price seem a bit much. Our server was just kind of going through the motions, not overly attentive at all. [I kind of attribute this to the whole 20% tip built into the bill — there is no incentive (or dis-incentive) to perform]. Our wine pours also seemed over-priced for the quantity. We won’t get in a rush to return.
Food was great and pricing wasn’t too bad. I would definitely go there again.
It was good except it took forever to get our meal. We came in at 8 and didn’t eat till about 10. One appetizer before that, but only one of our party was having that , so everyone had to wait a long time for their food.
The food is always great. We appreciate the variety of dishes with a choice of main; everything is orchestrated to work tog ether. Professional service and noise levels that aren't through the roof.
From start to finish, everything about Poppy exceeded our expectations. Friendly, attentive staff, thoughtful menu and presentation, quality of food was excellent. Cocktails were an unexpected highlight.
This place is always amazing. Every time we go we are blown away. And they went above and beyond to accommodate kids! Great food and service.
Everything was excellent except that service was INCREDIBLY slow. The wait staff was very good, and apologized many times, and even comped us a delicious appetizer. I don't think our wait time was the norm. But it was at least an hour before we got our food.
My favorite restaurant in Seattle never disappoints
The food was outstanding and the service was great. But it was so noisy it was different to hold a conversation. The decor is also a bit stark. The restaurant could do a better job creating more character, ambience and “old Seattle” feel.
Really enjoyed the food and service, including Kate at the front desk.
We know why they automatically add a service charge to the bill (3 persons dining) because the service is so poor. Food was good but had to send one dish back because it was cold. Management need to train staff on better service. Lots of staff standing around talking to each other instead of filling water, clearing tables, etc.
Gorgeous food worth every penny, wish they offered some more affordable wine options
I would recommend the food to my Indian foodie fiends to try Poppy’s delivery on the Thali plate. The food was outstanding. The decor is cold, hard and the space is very loud.
Great overall- excellent food and great service!
Good time together
The food was not what we expected at all. We ordered a thali that had several different types of small dishes. While the food may have been made well, it wasn't very tasteful and did not resemble Indian food at all. The dishes didn't seem to go together. Our waitress was also not very friendly and it felt like we were being rushed to leave. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone looking for good Indian food, but it might be good for those willing to be adventurous
Every bite intriguing and delicious. Jerry Traunfeld is THE master of herbs. We had a lovely dinner with delicious cocktail too. Hoping he writes a cocktail book next!
Big bummer, we were so excited about Poppy.
Do not order the Dosa! It was so not a Dosa, we don’t know what it was.
It was a white underdone chewy pancake. The salmon was not fresh, it smelled when they brought it to the table, and totally over cooked.
We will not return to Poppy.
Very expensive dinner for amateur cooking.
The chef needs to train his cooks better, and the wait staff needs to bring the food out when it’s hot! All of our food was cold.
I can’t believe this place.
Creative food opportunities- especially the meza 10 dish. The naan is outstanding.
Corner of restaurant location a little awkward.
We love out in the 'burbs" and make the drive to Poppy.
My family and I love Poppy. We have not had a bad-anything.
First time there and we had the Tuesday Thali. Delicious, great way to sample flavors at a very moderate price. Will return!
Our first time at Poppy. We had an excellenct, knowledgeable waitress and the food was wonderful. We will definately be back.
This is the perfect place for shareable dishes that are inventive and adaptable for vegetarians.
The staff at Poppy are always so terrific, the setting always so relaxed and cheerful, the food so focused and amazing but never fussy. I could never come to Poppy often enough.
Really great food...and unexpectedly a great value.
Always a great experience on every level! Love sharing Poppy with others!
