Slow service. Small portions.
After reading mixed reviews on Yelp about their Restaurant Week menu, I was worried if I had picked the right restaurant to try out this year...However, I am glad we didn’t change our mind. The first thing that caught my eye was the interior design of the restaurant. I love love the hanging lights in the backroom, gave the dining area a very chilled but also classy vibe.
The food was also delicious! My boyfriend and I both started with the lobster bisque, which had a decent amount of lobster meat. Surprisingly, it actually tasted better than the one we had in Maine. The stuffed flounder was so-so...I think i enjoyed the fried cauliflower that it came with more. My boyfriend got the surf and turf which he finished without any complaints. We also ordered the duckfat fries that wasn’t on the restaurant week menu. It was really good, not soggy like other places. We ended the dinner with carrot cake and chocolate cake, both which tasted great but being a dark chocolate lover, I think the chocolate cake tasted alittle better! ;)
Thanks Pine Fish for the delicious dinner and wonderful date night!
Service was slooooow. Food came out lukewarm. Drinks weren’t good and barely had any alcohol in them (despite paying for premium alcohol). Drafty.
Went during restaurant week with a 4:45 reservation. The food was excellent but service was the best. He took our orders, apps came fast but entrees came slow and never saw waiter after food arrived. I also mentioned it was a birthday for my daughter during reservation but got no recognition when her dessert arrived.
The service here was horrible. Took almost 30 to get our soup and 1.5 for entrees. Server never came around after we ordered and it was nearly impossible to even get the attention of a server for more water. The food was fine but small portions and too salty. Definitely not worth the cost for restaurant week.
Went during restaurant week and the food was delicious. It’s a small place and tables are super close together but overall I loved it. I would definitely go back again.
Food was horrible and service was the same. Would not recommend or return to this establishment
The decor and ambiance were very nice. Unfortunately, the food was so-so.
We had a wonderful time at Pinefish and can easily recommend. The restaurant is beautiful and eclectic, but that adds very much to its charm. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The dinner that we had was terrific. We both had seafood that was prepared perfectly. The presentation and recipes for each were very well done, exactly what we were looking for but with the certain touch that also gave the meals that special character that matched the restaurant. We found Pinefish the same way that you are doing it right now - looking for a place in Philadelphia that was different and a step up from the usual, standard fare center city restaurants, and we are glad we did. We look forward to coming back!
Tried it out for Philly Restaurant week. Will go again! Great food, service, aviance!
First let's start with the bar, I ordered the shrimps supposed to been seasoned, not😒!! my hands were stinking😡 then I sat at the table ordered salad, the menu said short ribs with mashed potatoes and carrot cake, my salad came wilted & old looking, look over to at the table to the left of me,front and the back their salad was fine...ordered lobster bisque👌 the manager/owner👩 came and asked me was i dining alone I already told her I was waiting on someone I said nooooo then she took the other menu👎👎 really,,, then my carrot cake came out😱 wait wat I thought that was last the icing on the cake was she brought out watery sweet potatoes😡wat happened to the mashed potatoes😡 and the 1 rib that was nothing but fat (it said ribs) WORST PLACE EVER THE BARMAID WAS THE ONLY FRIENDLY PERSON THERE,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
very disappointed for restaurant week value was poor. I ordered the crab cakes. the portion was 2 large cakes that had everything in it but crab meat. I was told by the waiter it was different from their normal menu after I asked what it was. she said it was a shrimp and scallop mouse. I would have rather had a smaller portion of the normal menu than what. the served. Desert wasn't great. The fried cauliflower was excellent I must say.
Great cozy spot to go to. The food was great! My wife and I will definitely go here again.
Went for restaurant week and was very disappointed considering the number of positive reviews for the restaurant. Ordered crabs cakes and came out undercooked and only slightly warm on the inside. It was also burnt on the outside. They said the scallops were what I saw as undercooked, but scallops shouldn’t look translucent and chewy goopy when cooked. The waiter advised away from the surf and turf which was probably a red flag from the start. Service was slow. Short rib was tender and the best dish. Carrot cake wasn’t overly sweet and ok. Fried cauliflower was pretty good. Overall not worth it for restaurant week at least.
It was amazing! From the ambiance , the waiter to the food! Did I mention the FOOD! Lol. Everything was 👍🏾
Restaurant week. Hated the ambiance, service & the food was terrible. Ended up leaving there booking a new reservation but I was still very hungry. I would never patron this place again!
Greasy food. Prices do not reflect quality of food. Drinks were terrible despite send backs. Unfortunate birthday experience. Will never return again.
Always a great experience.
Enjoyed dinner at Pine fish! Quant little restaurant. Love the tappas concept! The lobster bisque, mussels and whole grilled fish was absolutely delicious. Service was also amazing
Awesome happy hr selections which make you wonder how they stay in business ie food is the same but twice the price on regular menu. House vodka was actually good!! Oysters were d i v i n e as were the ultra filling duck fat fries...bang bang shrimp and fish balls were the only outliers to an otherwise awesome happy hr!!
We went to Pinefish this New Year's Eve for a nice dinner before the holiday festivities. The online menu and reviews looked great, and as a pescatarian this was a rare seafood-centric option. The restaurant and staff was friendly and fine, but the food left a lot to be desired. Almost every dish was soaked in oil/grease/butter...we shared the garlic shrimp, fried oysters, the most abhorrent was the truffled mashed potatoes that came sopping in oil and were left untouched. I mean, how do you mess up mashed potatoes? They are supposed to be creamy, light and fluffy, not sogged with grease :(
Awful food especially for the price we paid. Stay away if you'd like to keep your gallbladder where it belongs. Will not be going back.
Eclectic furnishings provide romantic and upscale ambiance with a happy hour menu every day, even on NYE! Staff was very friendly and attentive. Appetizers and main entree were delicious and had nice presentation. Would love to go back next time we visit Philly!
This place is a hidden gem, the food is incredible best deal you’ll get for quality seafood in the city, the happy hour is incredible. Where the food is on par with top notch restaurants the ambiance and service aren’t quite. In my opinion this a perfect place for a laid back date night. I highly recommend the oysters, mussels, bang bang shrimp, and truffle scallops.
Dishes are oily and salty. Lobster bisque can taste better if not that salty. The cod did great but way too salty. Cauliflower and Brussels sprouts are oily, I know it is fried but not expected soak in oil.
Enjoyed a meal after Birds game at the Bar. 3 of us had great cocktails, oysters, octopus, mussels, tuna, crab. Good time in a funk atmosphere. Fun night and would go back.
The only issue I have is with the service. You just get the feeling they are always trying to stiff you with the constant upcharges. A lot of the food is fried to boot, while also being really expensive
Meal was delicious. wait staff was friendly with a charming, kind personality. cod dish and sea bass just fantastic. food healthy--not drowning in butter like some places.
I would highly recommend Pinefish.
We were seated next to a birthday party group, and they were loud. the wait staff asked if we would like to move to another table; it wasn't bothering us at all so we stayed. but the fact that they cared to ask I thought showed what a classy place this is.
Restaurant was not busy other than a large party in back room, therefore we had a very nice quiet birthday dinner celebration. Food was good, we enjoyed the cod and the swordfish. Carlos' the server did a nice job with recommendations and was attentive.
Great food. Great ambiance. Definitely recommended for quality of food! Chef is excellent!
Had a wonderful dinner/drinks at Pinefish. Server was VERY attentive Food was great. Great place for conversation!
They have an amazing happy hour with an extensive food list. Nothing beats $1 oysters, shrimp, and clams! Plus they have a lot of options for people who don't eat seafood (even though it is mainly a seafood restaurant). We got to sit at the bar right in front of the kitchen and had a front row seat while the chef made all of our delicious plates. Highly recommended!
Perfectly pleasant experience and the waitress was amazing gracious!
Restaurant was dark, dingy, and dirty. Food was undercooked and came with two hairs in one of the dishes. Decor was beyond outdated and looked like it came off of the street. Check came in a literal rag. Will not return and would not recommend to anyone.
Awesome food, service and atmosphere. The swordfish dinner was special and love the roasted tomatoes were great. Will be back.
Great happy hour menu and lots of small plate options.
Love, love, love this restaurant, as does everybody that we've taken there. The food is fresh, diverse, and seasoned beautifully. The staff is informative and patient since it takes time to decide what to eat. The side room with bigger family tables is perfect for celebrations. And did I mention sharing - a perfect atmosphere and menu to get a taste of almost everything.
Great place, awesome service and great food. Owner is very friendly and personable.
Great service and food. Really.enjoyes the mussels and scallops. Will definitely be back.
Nice birthday experience!
What a great restaurant ! From start to finish it was excellent! Amazing Octopus app, Clam Casino, and Oysters Rockefeller. Dinner was Miso Cod with Seaweed and Wasabi Rice. Wow! Can't wait to come back!
