About this restaurant

Owen's Fish Camp is essentially a love letter to old Florida life and dining. Located right on a beach in Sarasota, it has quite a bit of history. Owen's Fish Camp is named after Owen Burns, who was the original developer of Sarasota. The Banyan tree that sits out in front of the restaurant was actually gifted to Burns by Thomas Edison himself.Owen's brings in local Bay fish every day. The kitchen staff goes out to the local markets and picks the best catches from neighborhood fishermen and brings them back to prepare. There are three main ways to enjoy a meal at Owens. Fish can be put on a sandwich like the Florida signature grouper sandwich, it can be fried and put in a basket with fries and coleslaw, or guests can order the low country boil that comes with crab legs, shrimp, mussels, clams and andouille sausage.

Although they don't take reservations it is well worth the wait. Food and service have been top notch every time.

Fun, casual dining in downtown Sarasota. The only thing missing is a water/beach view. Staff is friendly and food quality is average.

Always a solid choice for a casual, lively seafood experience. Be prepared to wait, because everyone else loves Owen's Fish Camp too. There is a great outdoor space out back to wait it out while you enjoy cocktails, small bites & conversation. Never had a bad meal at OFC & be sure to save room for the Key Lime Pie. Very friendly staff, parking can be a challenge so walk or take Lyft so you can enjoy a cold beer with your meal.

Fun atmosphere; food not memorable except for strong tasting (old) fish tacos. I think of places like this for a snack and a few beers ; I actually think its a bit pricey for the food quality. I don't think its prices are bad for Sarasota but hate to pay for foods that aren't good anywhere and there are many of them around to waste your money at. Love the concept , need to step up the food quality.
