Ombu Grill in Koreatown was a nice experience. Three of us dined there on a Sunday night. Probably only one other table of 2 when we arrived. Not sure anyone else ever came in after that. Our waiter was charming and helpful, and while others were friendly, communication was a little more difficult with them. We picked an item which had 5 different cuts of beef, all very good, cooked over a grill in the table with about 12 to 15 typical Korean side dishes. They also have Argentinian specialties but they all need 1 hour preparation time so we weren’t able to sample as much as we would have liked to. Beer and wine only. Valet parking available in the strip center. Well appointed restaurant.
It’s a very cheap taste, feel, ambience, but the bill was on par, so was the bill, the price rating for this place is misleading. It’s a cheap, not a premium place.
Korean food!!! Great, as always. The service could be more available, but that could just be personal preference.
My first Korean BBQ experience. Staff was helpful and food was very good. Had to ask for some items that came with our combo that didn’t get served but other than that service was good. Would go again.
Denton was extremely courteous and friendly. He made our family get together special. Service is excellent and the food is delicious. Valet parking is affordable.
stuck in LA overnight at end of business trip with an early flight to east coast... my travelling partner and I said "lets get some Korean BBQ". Went to OT and found Ombu.... Dinner was terrific... the host helped us pick a simple chef's choice type menu so we got a little of everything . Great food and some good shochu...
Beautiful decor. They grilled every piece of meat and service was top notch. More expensive than most places so take people here to impress.
Found this restaurant on google and am so happy we tried it! Everyone was so friendly and the service was fantastic! The food was excellent, and they helped us cook the food at our table. Would definitely love to come back and bring new friends along. Excellent experience and would highly recommend.
Clean and good.
Ombu Grill's meat quality is off the charts. That alone is what makes it worth going to.
Empty restaurant on Saturday night at 8 PM... Yet they "ran out" of two of the dishes we wanted to order. Food was mediocre, fried rice was good. Service was attentive, as expected with an empty restaurant. Overall decent food but better K-town options.
A bit pricey coz of quality of meat. If you want a fancy Korean BBQ, I would definitely recommend it.
Great service and good food
There was way too much garlic in the food. The waiters got frustrated with us, as it seemed that they didn't understand us that well... Maybe it was too authentic, but I don't remember Korean bbq being like this
High quality Korean BBQ with a great selection of items and wonderful service. Our waiter was particularly nice and friendly and playful. We had a great time and would highly recommend for a higher end Korean BBQ experience.
Love this place
Second time making reservations with open table & love this place. Our servers were very attentive. The food was amazing. Price was very reasonable. Definitely coming back.
Ordered the asado and penceta, both were too dry and bland.
My family wanted Korean BBQ for Easter. Yelped & Ombu Grill was first on the list near me. The food was awesome. Our server, Denton, was extraordinary. He grilled for us & paid careful attention to my 8 year old & my elderly father. He cooked & cut the meat just right for them. He even grilled the pork belly on the other grill so the fat won’t splatter & burn my son. We were a hungry group of 8 & we got 2 of the family meal. Worth every penny & filled us up.
Solid barbecue experience in the heart of Koreatown
Great great food.fantastic stuff.
We enjoyed our dinner, it was definitely a new experience!
Great food and friendly service. Good choices of food to grill and their own soups.
I noticed that they changed the recipe for the chimichurri sauce — and not for the better. The asado price seems to go up $10 every 2 months. As usual, there’s a woman part of the wait staff that LOVES to throw raw meat on the grill when all of the patrons still have cooked meats, to eat, on their plates. She’s very hasty in trying to get you out...tip for the owner, talk to her.
Definitely other go check out other Korean Bbq places, you will find something better.
Well kept secret in Koreatown. Usually easy to get a booth and this particular BBQ restaurant has the best ventilation system I've seen. It sucks in smoke from the meats right into the sides of the grill so it never has a chance to stick to your clothes.
Service was OUTSTANDING. Food good but some of the meats/ abalone tough but good. Bulgogi was great. Our ignorance got in the way of our ordering but waiter tried to help.
I would go again and try some different dishes.
Good quality meat with great service. You definitely get what you pay for here
The thick cuts of meat is really good and service is exceptional. We pre-ordered the Asado and that was really delicious.
A wonderful place. Will definitely be coming back.
Everything was wonderful, including the service and food.
Excellent quality of meat... probably the best KBBQ in town. The servers were super friendly and prompt! I was pleasantly surprised w/ their wine listing which is not too common for Korean BBQ restaurants! Our non-Korean friends loved the food and decore!!!! We will definitely go back !
Our favorite Korean BBQ restaurant in Los Angeles by far...and we've been to many of them in Koreatown, Beverly Hills, Southbay, and Westside. The various cuts of meat are top notch (Prime Kalbee, Prime RibEye, Asado). The menu prices are quite good for comparable Korean restaurants. Our waitress (Michelle) was great!
This is now my go-to Korean BBQ location.
Soyoung, our server, was fantastic.
The food is fresh, and the banchan are "American - white boy friendly"
The restaurant is modern, clean, and like any top Korean BBQ - filled with large screen tv's so the men can ignore their wifes and watch sports (LOL).
This place has a solid red wine list... and good $20-30 a bottle corkage fees - which are high but only necessary if you bring something special... they have plenty of $40 solid value red wines on the list.
Ask for Soyoungs section - I think she is part of the charm of this place.
Outstanding service and respectable wine list with very high quality meats. Overall value is excellent.
A wonderful experience. The food was so tasty and the staff and service amazing. I love Korean barbecue but not a fan of it being to commercialized. This was the perfect mix of tradition with contemporary. The meat was top grade and all the sides authentic. Can't wait to go back.
the meat was outstanding. the best quality of meat I've ever had at any Korean BBQ restaurant. The service was attentive and the private room was great for our group of 20.
The food is over priced compared to competitors. What I wanted on the menu required an HOUR to prepare but that was no where on the website when I looked. and planned my bf;'s bday dinner there.
Great service and good food. Stingy portions.
