Ocean Prime - Washington D.C.
Sat 4:00 pm–10:00 pm
Sun 4:00 pm–9:00 pm
Table of 4, ordered the king crab, $65, not worth the money. Legs were luke warm to cold. Would not have minded the price if they had been good, tasteless. The oysters were excellent, from Washington State. My husband and I had celebrated our 60th anniversary and the waitress came with two glasses of champagne, very sweet of her. Our desserts were the best that I have tasted, however one would have served two people easily. We were so looking forward to a delicious dinner, but were very disappointed. I do recommend the restaurant only because we might have ordered the wrong entree and another choice might have been better. Our two daughters, came with us, are from New York and we had hoped to have a nice meal to show them that DC also had a good restaurant, so much for that thought. All in all, it was a pleasant evening, our waitress was lovely and very accommodating.
We went here for my boyfriend's birthday, and I would definitely go back! The waitress was super helpful in giving wine suggestions. She was very attentive, the food was delicious, and they made sure that if I had any dietary restrictions, they were taken care of. My only complaint would be they seated us next to the kitchen door so that was a bit noisy, but other than that no negatives!!!
Made a reservation for the bar area. Greeted warmly upon arrival and seated promptly. Found fish (sea bass) to be well-seasoned if not a bit overly buttery. Calamari was cooked and seasoned perfectly as was the shrimp sautée. Guest raved about the crab cakes. Was a challenge to get an order of grilled vegetables which never happened. Have been here several times - the kitchen is improving over time.
Everything was excellent but their was hair in my food and the waiter didn’t even acknowledge it when it was bring to her attention
This Ocean Prime is a far cry from the New York restaurant. Two weeks ago, I had the blackened snapper in NY. It was one of the best pieces of fish I have ever had. A lovely full filet cooked perfectly.
The DC restaurant served me two tail ends of snapper filet that were overdone and tasted old.
Also, the oysters my wife ordered tasted “off”
This restaurant has a lot of growing to do if it hopes to match the dining experience of its big brother in NYC
Food was amazing. Slow
Great place to go and enjoy the company of friends
It was good.... we didn’t have to wait. Was not as busy as it has been in the past
Great service, good location, would highly recommend.
Great service, great food overall good experience
Never disappoints but I don't see a lot of improvements after 2 years, as a chain, maybe there's only so much they can do? Maybe daily specials? Like they're not too unconventional but still, could improve.
Great restaurant, great service, awesome food. You can’t go wrong here...
Always a great experience when I come here. High end dining with more reasonable prices than a lot of the comparable restaurants.
Over priced by 30% and not worth that. Server was up selling beyond appropriate and would not answer questions
It was my birthday, I was running late the kitchen was getting ready to close they still served my guest & I. They didn’t rush us out & they made me feel special.
The steaks were very good- cooked and seasoned perfectly. Everything else was unsophisticated and heavy on “cheap” flavor like salt and butter. My salad had so much dressing that I couldn’t eat it (and I typically request extra dressing at lunch salad places, so for me to say that the salad had way WAY too much dressing means something). The lobster maki tasted primarily of gluten-y rice. The soup was like a bowl of salt. My husband’s meal was also lousy. The only was this place deserves more than 2 stars is if you stick to the steak.
Fantastic as always! Delicious selections, wonderful staff. Always an experience.
Phenomenal food. We had crab cakes and grouper. Drinks were awesome when we could get them. Had to go find waitress. Bartenders weren’t busy but took 15 minutes or more to get a drink. Portions very small. We left and stopped at another restaurant to get more food and we are small eaters. Spent $150 for 2 people with tip.
Our 2nd time there, just as good as first. Did not eat in bar area. Really solid wait staff, great menu, and food was worth the cost. We will be back. Thank you.
This is a great place to have a family meal! The family especially enjoyed our waitress, Jackie!
The food was excellent. Our sever Jackie did a great job!
Excellent food in great atmosphere with good service. Sunday night Surf & Turf menu provides an excellent value. Bonus points as a place for spotting U.S. Senators and other DC insiders.
Amazing food and service!!!
Our server Patricio was excellent. He helped us navigate the abundant menu. So many wonderful choices! We all loved our meals, which started with a delicious basket of warm bread and soft butter. I’m a total sucker for the pretzel rolls. Our collective experience was exceptional and we all plan to return to this beautiful restaurant.
Our server Kelly, was attentive at all the right times. She lingered with a story, but also let us engage in conversation and take in the dinner at our pace. Was just right for our evening.
The food was outstanding. We were visiting DC for the weekend and looking for good crab cakes. We found much more at Oceans and especially enjoyed the chilled seafood from the Raw Bar selections. King crab and Maine lobster were chilled, easy to access, and delicious.
But the highlight of the night was a berry-licious hand-crafted cocktail presented in a "smoking" martini that swirled and danced in the glass with smoke. It was beautiful, and my wife loved it. She loved the second one, too. Great night with my wife and daughter at Ocean's Prime.
Brian was terrific. We were seated at table 13 just as we were for our last anniversary. Food was delicious and everyone treated us as VIP’s thanks very much.
My son took me there for my birthday. The food and service were outstanding. The lobster and crab were the best. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others.
Great place. Excellent food. Service was top notch.
Great bar service/bartenders/drinks
Jacqueline’s Service was great!
I celebrated my birthday in the bar during Friday happy hour, where my favorite champagne is half price (glass/bottle). We ordered from the bar menu; and truly enjoyed everything we ordered. So, I decided to take a friend there to celebrate her birthday. She doesn’t drink, so I made reservations for the restaurant. It was a disaster. The service was excellent, but the food was awful: undercooked, bland (except for the risotto, which was too salty), and certainly overpriced. I ordered sea bass, but couldn’t tell what I was served: There was a square piece of indistinguishable fish that looked and tasted like it had previously been frozen and served without seasoning. They charged $49 for the dish. I was robbed!!! While I’ll go back to the bar, I won’t eat in the restaurant again; and will advise my friends to do likewise.
My colleagues speak so highly of Ocean Prime so i had to try it out. Stopped in for lunch and sat at the bar. Initially, i was going to take a table but the bartender seemed so inviting - i was right. She gave recommendations on what to order and didn’t try to up-sell us or come off over bearing like other restaurants. The bar wasn’t packed but there were a good amount of people there as well as tables around the bar, but even with that she didn’t seem to forget any patrons. All the while working by herself. Did i mention her laugh is infectious and genuine?? On our way out i had to stop and get her name so i asked the hostess, Asiya- who was very sweet and personable and funny too. Anyways, if you don’t mind sitting at the bar, HIGHLY recommend REBECCA!
Kudos to Ocean Prime for having a great team to really represent the brand. I will definitely be back!
I always enjoy Ocean Prime. I had etoufee this time and it was fabulous. I highly Ocean prime and recommend it highly for great food and ambience.
Great as always!!! This is my favorite restaurant!
Great ambiance. My wife ordered the lobster and it was prepared with a Cajun seasoning that was not described on the menu. The menu states "twin lobster tails with drawn butter". She was really looking forward to the dinner but she cannot eat spicy food. Ordinarily she asks the waiter about spice, however, this one time she forgot.... it figures. As a result I switched my order with hers. I ordered the crab cakes which were very good. Our waiter was polite, but rather inattentive, and did not describe the specials before we ordered, and did not ask us during the course of the meal if everything was ok. Overall, it was a disappointing dining experience and would have expected a lo better for the price.
Went during Restaurant week and thought the food was terrific, service was lackluster and at times given wrong info on wine list specials almost cost me an extra $100 had I not double checked with a manager....Been to several Ocean Primes in USA..all are good food, pricey...
Everything was great, there’s nothing I would change
