Refined California Cuisine in a Historic Auburn Landmark.
At the Oakhouse, we celebrate the bounty of the Sierra Nevada and the spirit of California’s wild heart. Each dish honors seasonality, craft, and community - pairing house-aged steaks, regional produce, inspired cocktails and hand-selected wines for a dining experience that feels both elevated and familiar.

To reserve a table for more than 4 guests, please call the restaurant at 530-537-2473. Please include children in your guest count.

Reservations are scheduled as follows:

1-2 guests: 1.5 hour table limit/
3-4 guests: 2 hour limit/
5 or more guests: 2.5 hour limit/

All guest must be present in order to be seated. Please be punctual. We will hold your table for up to 15 minutes. 20% gratuity added to parties of 6 or more. We gladly allow up 2 outside bottles of wine per table. Thank you for helping us ensure the best dining experience for every guest.

    I was there when it was Tap and Vine and swore never to return, however, the New and GREATLY Improved and elegant Oak House does not disappoint. From the moment we walked in and were greeted, we were treated like royalty and family all rolled into one. The waitress, bartender, and other servers were attentive and knowledgeable about the food and wine offered. The food was on another level, with the chef creating amazing dishes. This is a genuine DIAMOND of a restaurant.

    The food was very good. Our only issue with our dining experience was service. Our server was good, however, she had too many other tables to handle. We felt rushed to make decisions, and if we didn’t make a decision right away, we would wait a long time for her to return. To be clear, our server was very nice, but she was overwhelmed.

    Our Waitress was great, she was always asking questions and was knowledgeable on everything we asked. The food and wine was great, the music was too. It was an amazing night!

    Overall, we had a very good experience. The cocktails were fairly priced for the quality. The fig appetizer was sublime and the entree’s, including Ribeye’s, Risotto and Flat Iron steak, were tasty with generous servings. Out chocolate cake was “the best I’ve ever had”, according to my wife, and the cheesecake rocked, too. Our waiter, Kent, was excellent. Friendly, engaging and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. My only complaint is he became so busy by the latter part of our meal that we didn’t see him again. Finally, the ambiance, while a bit hectic, has a good vibe, and has a quality, upscale yet comfortable decor. Again, a very good experience, we’ll be back.
