What Insiders Are Saying
Nix is a grown-up, entirely vegetarian and vegan establishment, in an area near Union Square previously lacking in both such kinds of places.
Delicious food just a little expensive :) fun environment and good service
Amazing vegetarian and vegan choices. Flavourful meals and delicious cocktails. I was surprised with the variety of European wines and ciders they had. Wonderful experience overall.
We celebrated my husband’s birthday there. Service was excellent, our server made some very good suggestions. We’ll definitely be back
Delicious interesting vegetarian food. Beautiful presentation.
This was my wife and I's first visit to Nix and we had a great experience. The food was absolutely delectable, the drinks were satisfying, the staff was attentive and kind, and everything was timely.
Nix was fabulous. Highly recommended to us. We were very pleased in every way. Beautiful restaurant with straight forward menu. Server very willing to describe each dish and to provide recommendations. We definitely will return. Vegetarian as well as vegan available. The pineapple dessert, shared, was wonderful.
Great value for money- super tasty and outstanding service - I cannot wait to go back!
The manager was rude the bathroom was dirty the food was just average and I’m shocked that it has a Michelin star doesn’t even come close to my expectations
Lovely evening with family. Ordered family style and shared the pineapple 🍍 coconut dessert! Cauliflower tempura and pan fried gnocchi were amazing. Low key and casual. A+ in my book.
Wonderful brunch venue, pleasuring decor, delicious food, friendly, attentive staff
Food was great, as it always is. However, they really clear your plates so quickly that it takes away from the experience. I've had the same thing happen to me in the past.
Amazing food and amazing staff. Will be back soon !
Great food, great ambiance, great noise level (low). Great if you're looking for a nice and relaxing meal out.
Very nice restaurant, fresh ingredients and nice and relaxing atmosphere.
Enjoyed our meal at Nix. Food and drinks were, however, a mixed bag. The apple salad was a very bland mix of apples fennel and parsley, the jicama was also flat, needing larger pieces of citrus to balance the jicama. The spicy tofu was very good, the gnocchi was excellent and the cauliflower tempura was very good. Drinks were flavorful but weak in the alcohol department. I know I’m coming from California and it is only mid-March, but for a vegetarian/vegan restaurants our five dishes didn’t feature vegetables front and center.
As a vegetarian restaurant, the food is too greasy...I felt I had a heavier meal than eating meat. But the service, the atmosphere, and the presentation of food are great.
Amazing food!! We came her after getting engaged and the staff were all very kind and brought us champagne. Will be going back for sure!
A mostly plain (albeit architect-designed) white, long room with seats along the sides. Moderate sound level. Very pleasant wait staff. Really unusual, interesting food---attractive looking and very tasty. You won't miss meat if you dine here. The portions aren't huge but they aren't skimpy and you won't go away hungry. We two ladies of a certain age ordered two little bites, one appetizer, one main course, and one dessert; I can't remember what the courses are rather pretentiously called but you'll get the idea about very small, small, and larger. The small balls of some kind of dough for dessert, with dips, were perfect, as was the burrata appetizer.
Ambience and menu options were really good for vegetarians. Their sodas are must try!! Service was terrible, drinks never came out until after we're done with appetizers and had to ask and remind the server, water was not refilled, dirty plates were not taken away from an already limited table space.
This was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time! The ambiance was low key and unpretentious. The service was warm and friendly. The food was terrific! I had the mushroom veloute which was a flavorful, warm and delicious first course. The polenta fries were perfectly cooked - crisp on the outside, moist in the inside and they retained their shape. The Reuben-like sandwich was flavorful and juicy and filling. The cauliflower tempura dish was original and a great combination of flavors and textures (with the steamed buns and pickled vegetables).
My partner and I are always on the lookout for excellent vegetarian food in a high-end setting (god bless the many carry-out places that exist - we love you too - but once in a while you want a FANCY dinner), and Nix met and exceeded every hope we had. The food is outstanding. We had the kale tartine and the gnocchi for mains; both were complex and savory and utterly satisfying. More importantly, the flavors and preparation were unique - these were not dishes you could just order as a veggie option at a random restaurant. We were thrilled and will be back.
Food was ok but the dessert was awful. We sent it back but they didn’t offer to replace it or take it off our bill. THUMBS DOWN!!!
The food was okay, but felt underwhelming considering its Michelin star rating. There are better restaurants with better ambiance and more creative flavors that might not have the prestige of the star but fill the plate with more exciting and innovative flavors. We ordered off the vegan menu, perhaps the vegetarian menu leaves people more satisfied.
This place is amazing!! We have been twice so far and very much enjoyed it both times! Food is excellent!! You can't go wrong with any dish. Over all vibe is very cool, not too noisy either. However, there is one thing I must mention - for restaurant of this level of sophistication, I would absolutely expect to have paper (or even cotton) towels in the bathroom vs. hands dryer! I mean, these things are the biggest vector, germ spreading machines!! Plus, I never ever want to touch the door handle on the bathroom door, for obvious reasons! When I mentioned this to the manager, he didn't seem to be understanding at all (??) and just starred at me saying nothing..
Very disappointing. It started when we arrived five minutes before they opened (5:25) and the person at the desk said you have 5 minutes and made us stay outside in 20 degree temperature.
Although the food is good pretentious
restaurants are a turn - off. There’s nothing like being treated in a warm, open way upon entering a restaurant. Nix lost three neighborhood customers !
Yes, we're coming again. Although it was just a bit too noisy!
I would say that the overall experience was good. The one negative thing that stood out was that our waitress was unpleasant (fake/condescending/as if she should not have to be doing what she was doing). Perhaps she was having a bad day... Not a huge deal but just not what I want to deal with when I paying for an experience. Food is good, atmosphere nice-great place to sit with a friend and have a civilized conversation. I would give another try.
The food is excellent! Great atmosphere. Perfect for work lunches, or solo lunches too.
Very good service. Small table and lots of noise. Very cold when door opened. Great dip starters but main dishes not so remarkable. One was very spiced and hot with chilli and we hadn’t been warned. Drinks good - home made soda and Lambrusco by the glass. Don’t reckon NY vegetarian is quite there yet...
Very pleasant experience. The sodas were a pleasant surprise.
The food was delicious and fresh! Even seated in the back, the place did not feel too dark or crowded (especially by NYC standards). The noise level was also reasonable, even for the Sunday brunch rush.
The food itself was pretty good, but the prices and portions could be more proportional. We went for brunch and ordered a few of the egg dishes. I was surprised to see that the dish was made with only one egg. You would think for $16 a plate the meal would be satisfying. Overall the food was good, but you can find better vegetarian food for a much better price and value in the same neighborhood.
My wife and I met the "Seattle connection" on the subway and decided to give Nix a try. Brought our friends and their kids who live nearby in New York for a Sunday brunch. Fabulous meal, kids loved the Patriot pancake (with a $2.00 donation to Planned Parenthood every time they're ordered...what could be better than that?!)
Good food, good service, nice ambiance. Perfectly seamless.
Gimmicky vegetarian place with bland food. Not worth the price. Can get much better vegetarian food for much less in the city. Ordered a few dishes which were not impressive at all for a Michelin star restaurant. Also nothing special about the service. Recommend avoiding and finding a better option.
Overall not bad - but I had higher expectations. Two of our dishes came out subpar. Service was slow and unattentive . It took forever to get the waiters attention if we needed something.
We wait a little while for the drinks but the rest was good
Niamh was amazing. She was super helpful and recommended really great options. My friend and I loved the restaurant. Really nice romantic vibes and they did a nice thing for my friends birthday as well! Would definitely come back especially if we could have Niamh again lol
Our first time at Nix...staff was so helpful and patient in helping us with our choices. She answered all questions and checked in during each course (but not obtrusively). The food was exquisite. Neither of us are vegetarians and there’s always that risk at a vegetarian place of feeling like you never really had dinner. Not so here! The dishes were flavorful and so deliciously satisfying. The shiitake “cacio e pepe “ was exquisite. Looking forward to going back!
The perfect place for lunch and great conversation.
One of my favorite restaurants in the world! Nix has some of the best vegan and vegetarian food I've experienced. Plus everyone who works there is so friendly and attentive. I couldn't more highly recommend Nix! Definitely order those cauliflower buns. Outstanding.
