Favorite sushi spot in Austin! I have a Thursday reservation for the next month!
Amazing as always:)
Rather exquisite sushi restaurant right in the middle of South Austin. Have lived in some sushi havens before Austin and this establishment would fit in and take on the best in those cities. Nice to have this choice here and it was busy enough to assure me that Austin will appreciate and male Neighborhood Sushi successful. Will be back and will let people know.
Service was very slow -- my glass of wine sat on the bar for 15min, in plain sight, and I had to ask a passing server to check whether it was mine/bring over (it was). Someone else's hand rolls sat on the sushi bar for 10min after being made (my understanding is those are best consumed immediately) while the rest of an order was put together. Sushi was good but felt overpriced for what it was. I really wanted to like this place more!!
Our server was amazing. We didn’t know it was only a snack selection of food items but we made it work and it was still a fantastic meal!
Disappointed. And will not be back.
I’ve been in Austin since the 90s. Lived in Bouldin Creek for 18 years. I am a Huge Larry McGuire restaurant fan. Was excited to try neighborhood sushi finally when one of my closest friends from grade school was visiting. I made the reservation weeks in advance and was very disappointed to not be given a table upon arrival - but rather had to sit at the sushi bar. Then was greeted by the waiter without any sort of introduction on why there were three different menus sitting in the bar.
I felt like we were a major inconvenience for this server to even be dining there.
We were given the incorrect wine that we had ordered and had to send it back.
I also was disappointed in one of the dishes (bass) that the waiter raved about (when I asked him what he recommend we order). We ended up each tasting one bite each and told him it had no flavor at all. He just said too bad and removed it from our table without any other suggestions for a replacement. I have never once sent anything back at any of the MMH restaurants so that’s the only reason I commented- but that really made no difference to the waiter as he just simply did not care if our experience was good or not.
I just felt like the experience was complete waste of a special night out as we felt like we were bothering the restaurant for being there.
And just for clarification the salmon nigiri was delicious and there was one server (female) that delivered a plate or two. She was delightful and improved the mood. But because of the overall experience I am sorry to say I will not be going back. Time is too precious to feel that way when going out for special nights. It should be a better experience than what we had.
Food was fantastic. Whole heartedly recommend the steamed egg custard, any of the special nigiri, and the fried Sunday.
Also go at happy hour for 25% off all food!
Great selection of fish, well designed dishes and Maki.
Great overall experience
Food was good. But at the prices they charge you would expect much better service.
Based on this one experience I would say it is place where wait staff favors
customers their own age at the expense of attention to other diners. Too bad, nice spot in the sometimes hectic South Congress Strip.
It was a very nice evening, great ambiance, amazing service. The Red Dragon sake cocktails were so good. It was fun to sit at the bar where you could see the chef making the rolls and ask for recommendations! Everything we got exceeded expectations. Will definitely be going back!
Flawless! Beautiful room, lovely staff and amazing meal.
Wonderful experience from beginning to end. Beautifully designed, loved the ceramics and food presentation, and the service was wonderful. Thank you!
Love our birthday celebratuons
I loved everything
Ordered a 25 dollar tempura plate with a roll and expected protein tempura got 4 pieces of fried vegetables and One poorly made roll. Best raping of my wallet ever! Best part of the meal was the canned beer I had. Friend that was with me was puking two hours later. Absolutely will not be going back. Keep up the good work so your doors will close sooner.
Jason is incredible.
one of the best sushi meals i've ever had in my life! excellent food, excellent service!
Great food and awesome ambiance
Always so good!!
Pleasant atmosphere with a considered food and drink selection. The omakase was an easy choice to make though I expected a little bit more seafood in the selection. Was a bit steep for the price but overall I felt it was a lovely place to take a special someone on a date. Will certainly be back again but next time ordering a la carte.
Food and service was amazing. Will 100% be coming back
Such a good dinning experience. Me and my friends love coming for the happy hour. Such a good special. Plus the sushi is one of the best in town. Always so fresh and tasty. Will be coming back very soon.
The restaurant definitely uses high-quality ingredients, but the overall experience is below the top-notch establishments like Uchi, Uchiko, Soto, etc., but certainly well-above places like RA Sushi, Sushi Zushi, etc. The menu requires a bit more creativity and originality before I'd give it a higher score.
Neighborhood sushi was absolutely amazing. I was in the mood for sushi and decided just to go grab lunch. I’ve had sushi at multiple places around Austin and by far loved this place. The sushi was excellent. I will definitely be back!
Excellent experience all the way around. Great food. Great service. Great place!
The vibe was really cool and the seafood definitely tasted fresh. It was hard to find the entrance so more signage might be helpful. Great wine menu, and overall loved the decor and feel of the restaurant. Definitely a different experience for the Austin market.
Food was excellent! Service was great. Had a good time
Amazing. Food as someone who loves ceramics, it’s very noice.
Everything was outstanding. Service, menu, quality, atmosphere. 10/10
LOVED IT! Great good, friendly service, well priced, great location.
The food was impeccable. Ambience was on point. Can’t wait to go back. And they do free dessert for birthdays :)
Great Lunch Spot! Would recommend to any friends, love the bento boxes.
Delicious sushi with unique specials and combinations I had never tasted as well as your favorite staples. The fluke roll is a must! The savory custard is as incredible. Sashimi is excellent and presented beautifully.
If you like minimalist sushi that focuses on great tasting fish without a bunch of bells and whistles to distract from fantastic cuts, then this is your place. Not to mention their incredible selection of saki and attentive staff. Glad to finally have another amazing choice for sushi in Austin!
Waitstaff was good. Hostess was bizarrely snotty. Oh and enough with this mask nonsense - anyone who actually looks at the data should be able to tell its just not a big deal. Enough of the “look how concerned we are about you!” theater. If you were that concerned about a respiratory disease you wouldnt be open.
Our waiter was very thoughtful in their approach to taking care of us. The food was great, but their attention to us and their hospitality took our evening to another level. Their passion for where they work shines through.
Really good sushi fun :-)
Finally a traditional and delicious sushi restaurant in Downtown Austin with an above average value to cost ratio.
Awesome fish amazing cuts and great vibes. Win win.
