The name NAMA comes from the word Namaste which means I bow to the divine in you; or showing respect as you greet someone. The entire design and atmosphere plays off the traditional colors found in Indian culture/sub-region and will ultimately create a cozy and warm atmosphere for guests to enjoy.

Seating will have an array of options from intimate to groups. What differentiates our Indian Concept is that we will present a majority of the menu items as Shared Plates which are appropriate to enjoy and are vastly popular as all-day offerings. The idea behind the concept is that groups of people can enjoy spending time together socializing and mingling whilst trying a wider variety of offerings instead of just ordering an entree per person. This will allow Nama to cater to a wide variety of preferences and palates!

NAMA provides 2 spaces for guests to enjoy. An upstairs private mezzanine and a main dining hall. Our Mezzanine seats 48 with 96 people standing room. And our main floor seats up to 112 with 268 standing. Our Space features a built-in sound system and is for any AV equipment needed.

One of the worst dining experiences of my life. We were greeted, seated, and served drinks immediately. But then took almost a half an hour for anyone to come get app orders. App orders were messed up because no one wrote anything down. Also a warning, as an Indian person who loves spicy food don’t order anything past medium on the Hot scale here. They just dump unmixed chili powder on top if you order hot. Almost lost an hour before anyone came to get entree orders or refill drinks. Again no one wrote anything down, so by the time entrees came out we were missing things. Had to frantically waive someone down for over a half hour to try and fix before we just gave up and asked for check. They still tried to charge us for missing items. Food was bad in taste, not just for Virginia, and too damn expensive. They also did not get the notice about the special occasion. Only thing good was the ambiance. They even had traditional swings.

The food was delicious and spiced perfectly. THE SERVICE WAS EXCEPTIONAL. I've had less professional service in 5 star restaurants. I rarely leave a tip in excess of 20%, but I did this time. FYI, the automatically add 18% that is shared by the entire staff to help make a living wage. Anything you add above that is only for your server. My highest recommendation for this establishment. BTW the variety and authenticity of the food was remarkable.

Not worth the $$$$. Food was just okay. Our waiter was very good but the kitchen was very lack. We waited almost an hour for our food. Then the manager had the gaul to "comp" us $3.50 per person!! The entire meal should have been comped! We will never return.

Came here for a Valentine’s Day date. We were not greeted by the hostess for 20 minutes after we had a reservation. Took us in total about 30 minutes to get seated. We then had terrible service. Took us 2 hours to get our entree which at this point was 10 pm when it closed. Food was average but they also messed up our orders and brought our courses at the wrong time. One of the strangest and poorest dining experiences I’ve ever had.

The vibe in the main restaurant seemed fun! We were seated in a smaller dining room with music blaring way too loud. It was Valentine’s Day. The table was so wobbly we had to borrow a wine bottle top from an unbussed table to wedge under the leg. After 30 minutes with no server ever coming to our table, we left. We ended up having a great Valentine’s Day dinner at Quirk instead. A very weird scenario since we made reservations weeks ago. I bet the food there is probably good. Can’t say I’ll give them a second chance.

Amazing idea for the day of love a two hour six course meal with a bottle of wine of your choice but it went all wrong. Took 35 minutes to get the wine never got the first two courses when mentioned to the waitress they apologized but still never brought the dishes food took an hour, all together it was almost three hours for a four course meal with three different waiters. Will never return the price was amazing 100 per couple

It took an hour for someone to take our order once we were seated, and another hour to actually receive our food. It could have just been a bad day, but it seemed the restaurant was not hesitating to just keep seating more and more people as they came in even without taking their order. It was noticeable how many tables were looking toward the kitchen/bar area looking for a server or the hostess to either order or request their check to leave. That includes us, who finally had to go up to the bar to ask for our check so we could leave. The food though was good, just a little spicier than we were expecting, which is not so much a complaint as it is a comment for anyone who is a little more sensitive towards heat.

The food was great (the little that we were able to try) but the service was terrible. They were very understaffed and despite us coming in before it got busy and before the dinner rush (with a reservation) we waited so long for our appetizers then waiting almost an hour for our entrees and when we checked with the sever they said it would be an additional 20 minutes and we had show tickets so we had to leave without eating. It was extremely disappointing.

There are so many good restaurants in Richmond, don’t waste your time. The food is underwhelming/overpriced and our service was terrible. Additionally they played the same song on repeat for 1.5 hours.. overall it was a poor experience which was disappointing given how positive other reviews are for this spot.

Very good food! Service was slow at first but ended up ok. Nice atmosphere for an Indian restaurant. Easy to hear and talk and lots of seating options! Loved our meal and would definitely come back!!

It was Christmas Eve. Everyone was festive. The service was attentive. We each had a shrimp – that was spicy but not too much so. We’re looking forward to going back

We had an early reservation during the week. We were the first to arrive for dinner that evening. We were greeted immediately which was nice. The meal was flavorful but the onions in the tikka masala were slightly under cooked, leaving them noticeably too crisp. Dishes were spiced well and aromatic. We especially enjoyed the bullet naan. We thought it was also odd that the menu did not have any prices on it. The restaurant is beautiful decorated. The bathrooms were a bit tired looking and not as beautifully curated as the main dining area. Overall, it was a better than average experience. It pleasing to see the restaurant fill up as we ate our meal.

First time there, we were heading to the Seinfeld show at 9:30 so the reservation was for 7:45. It was 15 minutes before I left our seat and asked a bartender if anyone as going to assist us. She was our server and came over shortly after. We placed our food and drink order right then and there to avoid another long wait…our drinks came promptly and our food took an hour. I was fuming. Mostly because we had a show to attend and didn’t want to rush through the meal…which was AMAZING. I wanted to be very transparent with this review because if you are in a rush, this is not your place. If you don’t mind waiting, run don’t walk because again, the food was absolutely amazing! My attitude went away with the first bite. I will definitely return but with no plans afterwards.

We were looking forward to Indian food for our first night in Richmond...we had a reservation and were seated within a reasonable amount of time, after that things started to go bad....they seemed disorganized and under staffed...we waited 25 minutes for somebody to take our drink order. We were also given menus that had no pricing which just seemed wrong....even with rapidly changing prices there are ways around this....like using QR codes, etc. As we waited for our drinks we could see service rapidly deteriorating around us and lots of customers coming in...so we decided to get out while we could. I know restaurants are struggling with staffing but they really need to cut back on the reservations that they take if it's a problem. Overall this place gets an F without even tasting any food!

We're from out of town, our second time there. Food was fantastic! Service a smidge slow due to (what looked like) being a little short staffed. Missing a few adult beverages we were hoping to enjoy. Overall, really good and we plan to return!

The ambience was terrific! They have swings in the front which are so cute, great for photos. The food was unbelievable!!! If you have a few minutes before your reservations, sit at the bar and have a drink - tasty cocktails. My party will definitely be back.

We went for restaurant week, where most participating restaurants have a fixed-price 3 course meal where you pick from a few options for each course. Nama on the other hand, gave you a little bit of everything on the menu, which was a nice surprise. There was certainly a lot of food for a reasonable price. The appetizers (a fried cauliflower, tomato cream soup and naan) were all quite tasty. The main courses (a paneer dish, butter chicken and a lentil dish) all were a little bland. They had some spices and flavoring, but not at the intensity we'd expect from an Indian restaurant. I'm not sure if it was jut the restaurant week menu or what, but it's almost like they were catering their dishes to people new to and unfamiliar with Indian cuisine. They didn't ask for a heat level when we ordered, either. The flavors were good, but just felt a little flat and underdeveloped. With ~25% more seasoning I think it could be quite good. I haven't written it off completely yet, but there are several very good Indian places in the city so it wouldn't necessarily be my first pick.

The food is very tasty!! However, on first introduction to the restaurant the bar was covered with to go boxes, the napkins used to wrap the silverware and dirty plates. This was the case for other tables in the restaurant. Once we were seated both the tables next to us had crumbs of leftover food or plates from the previous guest, they didn’t clean the until a new set of customers who needed seats came or you asked them to. Lastly the service is decent, they were accommodating for the most part, it may be do to the being short staffed.

We ordered an appetizer and teo entrees. Appetizer came wuickly but we had to wait for an hour for our entree. Waiter informed us that they were under staffed. But it was Saturday night and being understaffed was surprising. We spent 100$ for this meal. The waiter and waitress were really good though and they apologized several times. Food was good but our hunger almost died by the time food came.
