We were visiting Oahu for our anniversary and my husband and I are foodies and love tasting menus, Mugen stood out as one of my favs! Every course was carefully thought out and flavors worked so well together. Cost was on par with what we’re used to paying without being in beautiful Waikīkī! 10/10 recommend!

I brought my sisters to Mugen to celebrate their birthdays, and having dined at several Michelin-starred restaurants, I came in with high expectations. The food met them. Every course felt special, the amuse-bouche was wonderful, the lobster dish and desserts were outstanding. Our server, Eduardo, was a real asset. He was fun, engaging, and clearly proud of the menu, and he made the evening feel personal. Where the experience fell short was the setting. We arrived early and were the first guests in the restaurant, yet we were seated in a very small back room away from the main dining area. For a celebration dinner at this price point, that took a lot away from the evening. Our table also wasn’t set properly, our silverware was placed directly on the table, while every other table had it on rests. It’s a small detail, but at this level, the details matter. Overall, it was a nice evening with excellent food and great service from Eduardo, but the seating and table setup kept it from being the special occasion I’d hoped for. I’m glad I went, but I wouldn’t return.

Amazing quaint fine dining tucked away from the Waikiki craziness. The staff is attentive, professional, knowledgeable and very friendly. We were there for our 10th anniversary and everything was perfect. The food with wine pairing brought by their erudite sommelier Douglas was also complemented by our waiter Leo made for an unforgettable experience. We had the Jade tasting with wine pairing: Kona Kanapachi, oysters, lobster, kinmedai, and Toriyama A5 Wagyu. All were palate pleasers. Highly recommended!

Visited Mugen two years ago and had an amazing experience. Once again, we were not disappointed. Every element was outstanding. The service was impeccable, friendly and professional. The food was Michelin-star quality. The elegance of the restaurant is worth paying a visit. It continues to be our go-to dining experience while in Honolulu.

Excellent as usual! That wagyu had the most delicate crisp but it was like biting into butter! So soft & tender on the inside. Mind blowing perfection! Hubby ( the carnivore) is still thinking about it Awaiting afternoon tea 🫖experience to restart Its been such an elegant, delightful indulgence 💕 I try to have my protein & fiber bites at home first to diffuse the scrumptious but high carb treats at any tea service. The tea experience is worth the carbs & exercise! Life needs balance! We have really enjoyed the lobster & seafood bites...and now....the WAGYU! Also enjoy your lemon, yuzu, choc, & cherry creations Thank you & See you again soon!
