Modern Love Brooklyn
What Insiders Are Saying
Fancy-ish vegan food in Williamsburg.
Phenimenal, innovative vegan cuisine. Outstanding for brunch or dinner.
The food was incredible, even better than dinner. Wonderful ambiance, delicious mimosas. All good!!
Favorite vegan restaurant in all of New York. Everything I’ve tried has been phenomenal but my favorite dish by far is the Chickpea Cutlet Parmesan. Nostalgic and innovative at the same time. I’ve brought many omnivores to Modern Love and they all leave satisfied and in awe.
As usually Modern Love did not fail me. The food was amazing and was a great way to end the school year.
Side Note: I had the Strawberry basil margarita. It was a bit too sweet was looking for a bitter note in it for balance. Nevertheless, it was very tasty!
Modern Love will forever be one of my go to places to eat. I am not a vegan, but man the food makes me want to be one!
I came here for my birthday with my family. I chose this restaurant because I’ve been here plenty of times with my fiancée and we’ve never had a bad experience. However, the waitress with the pink hair who attended us was extremely RUDE. She messed up the drink orders and we kindly let her know and she refused to admit she made a mistake and tried to make us accept the wrong order she brought out. After we ordered the entrees, she messed up the order again and tried to blame my mom for the misunderstanding. My mom doesn’t speak English, she NEVER said a WORD. We ordered for her. She claimed my mom said this and that. Super rude, nasty attitude, hand gestures and everything. My family is not vegan, and I chose this place because I knew they would love the food, which they did. However, the service was terrible.
So I had out of town friends visiting two weeks apart and my first experience was very meh. The food was ok, the lighting was super dark and it was SO loud in the restaurant that I didn’t really enjoy myself. Another group of friends wanted to try it so against my better judgement I reluctantly agreed but I was pleasantly surprised! This time the lighting was perfect, soft music and the food was outstanding and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It’s as if they read my first comment and adjusted everything lol I would definitely come here again because it was that much better.
Modern Love is a gem in this city. Delicious vegan creations, huge portions, fair price. If you’re on the fence, just go!
It’s a perfectly enjoyable place to eat. We arrived 30 minutes early for our reservations, and they went ahead and sat us. Service was efficient and friendly. Ambiance is cozy and relaxed. The food was good, but I believe I was expecting to be blown away, having followed Isa Chandra for a long time. I had the nachos, Mac and shrews, and a raspberry sangria. The nachos were pretty good - definitely on par with other similar restaurants. The Mac and shrews were very good, flavorful, and comforting. It isn’t my favorite vegan macaroni and cheese I’ve had, but I would definitely eat it again. The raspberry sangria was a bit too sweet for my taste. Overall, this was a good experience and I’d go back if I was in the area.
I got the pesto gnocchi special with the fried mozzarella ball and it was AMAZING!!!!!
Amazing vegan food and great drinks. We loved the mozzarella sticks, chorizo nachos and buffalo wings #GoVegan
Absolutely LOVE this place!! We always stop here on our trip to NYC. It’s a must!!!!
My friends and I had a great time at Modern Love in Brooklyn!
We loved the Buffalo Wings and enjoyed our dinners and were blown away by our server who was great at making recommendations on what we should eat based on our preferences. We were there celebrating a birthday and so he remembered to bring out the smores desert and somehow got the ENTIRE restaurant to sing Happy Birthday. It was so cool and made my friends night!
One thing people NEED TO WATCH FOR: 20% gratuity is automatically added to bill. It was 5 of us. Right after is a line written "Tip" but should be listed as "additional tip." This is misleading and I am sure many people overlook Bill and tip 2x.
Great as always
Amazing last night in NYC with such great food! The friend mozzarella sticks were to die for! The Mac N Shews was killer! And the s'mores brownie -- heaven!! I can't wait to visit again when I go to NYC again. Thank you ISA we love you!!!
Amazing place! Some of the best vegan food in all of NY. The mozzarella sticks were what I've been looking for the last 8 years! Everything is homemade, no daiya or products like that. Great place to bring omnis who don't like "fake meat" because there are lots of great vegetable-based plates that are great and crowd-pleasing. Also, I messed up my reservation and they accommodated me anyway. Really appreciate it! Will be returning with everyone I know :-)
Menu and atmosphere was great, food was top notch, the service was little suspect. me and my wife asked for drinks before our appetizers. she got hers relatively quickly I didn't get mine till I was well into dinner when I realized , where is my drink? and notified another waiter. 5 star restaurant and food but the service is 2 star at best.
Waiter was flighty and forgot to put in our food order. Do we had to wait an hour for our food. But they did come us an entree and coffee to make up for it. Everything was delicious
Tofu scramble was delish. The burger and fries will stay in my memories for awhile. I’m not sure how those fries tasted so good 😊 the burger had great umami flavor. Everyone in our party left with an amazing experience.
Went for brunch and everything from the service to the food were amazing! Great ambiance and really great value considering the portion size you get for the price! Definitely recommend trying this place. Thank you Modern Love team!
Seriously delicious, exemplary vegan fare and exceptional service. Prices may seem a bit high at first, but their large portions with many interesting parts definitely justified the cost. Loved it!
The food was ok, for NYC standards. I had the poutine which was nice and then the Mac and chews which I enjoyed but the cauliflower and kale was way too lemony. The rhubarb cheesecake was just ok as well. I actually liked the meal but for the price, i’ve had much better food experiences. Also it was super noisy that I had to shout a bit and lean into the table to speak to my friend. The ambiance was nice, maybe a little too dark for my taste but whatever. Probably wouldn’t go out of my way to come here again.
I went here for my girlfriends birthday and we both absolutely loved it. Service is amazing and welcoming, expect a busy scene because this food is awesome. super affordable and accommodating. Ill come back regularly, cant wait to take friends and family here. The waitress that I had was super nice and they brought out dessert with a candle in it for my girls birthday!
I will go back again and again and again. I will convert my meat eating friends at this place. Unbelievable!
If you're vegan or vegetarian, is it really worth going anywhere else?
This was my second time eating at Modern Love. The food was superb!! The service was not good at all which surprised me bc it was great my last visit. I guess our waitress was having a bad day. We sat for about 15-20 before we waived over someone who became our waitress. Drinks took another 10 or so minutes to come out. (The restaurant was not packed). Once the food came out, I was happy. Compliments to the chef!
Modern Love Brooklyn is my favorite restaurant in NYC! Thank you for being committed to amazing and creative vegan food!! I bring all of my family and friends here and they love it too even though most of them aren’t vegan. It really shows how good your food really is that it can bridge gaps like that. Thanks so much for existing!
I was extremely satisfied with my experience at Modern Love Brooklyn. The staff was incredibly accommodating. My friend and I originally wanted to reserve a table for 7:30 PM, in order to have food served just in time to break our Ramadan fast (no eating or drinking from sunrise until sunset). We did not find this time open, so we opted for 7:15, not knowing that the tables have a time limit. We were graciously welcomed to stay and our server made sure our food came out right at sunset, at 8:15 PM. We engaged in friendly conversation with our server, who shared some of their personal experiences with fasting! Throughout our dining experience, we felt welcomed. I can't wait to come back!!
Amazing! The food was incredible and the staff was super friendly.
We admire Isa Chandra Moscowitz so we were excited to eat there. It surpassed expectations!! So good!!
Another stab in the fallacy that vegans just eat salads. Great restaurant. I had the chickpea cutlets with linguini and side salad - it looked and tasted like the real thing. Great prices, service and ambience. Can't wait to go back.
All around great experience!
Satisfying even for the non vegans and the drinks were refreshing and perfectly with the menu.
Always look forward to brunch and dinner here, it never disappoints! I would feel comfortable bringing any non vegan friends here as well :)
Can't miss with Modern Love. I've been over 20 times and I've never been disappointed. The classics remain on the menu while seasonal specials rotate so there's a comfort factor while always being able to try something new. My favorite!! ♥️
I've been looking forward to dining at Modern Love Brooklyn for years and was absolutely thrilled to finally enjoy a meal there recently. The food was as incredible as I'd hoped it would be and the wait staff was top notch. Myself and my guest are not vegans (though I prefer to eat like one), but we were both extremely delighted by the flavors and textures of each of our dishes (a charcuterie board, Korean BBQ bowl and strawberry shortcake dessert). So good! We left as two happy customers with full bellies! We'll see ya again next time we come to BK! :)
It took 1h40 minutes before we got our food. We were a party of 8 so a 20% gratuity was mandatory.
I believe that the assured gratuity was the reason why they served 4 tables that arrived after us before us.
Long story short, if you're a small party, this is a good spot with good food, but any large parties should go somewhere else.
Probably one of the best vegan restaurant I’ve been to. Went here on Mother’s Day, but more so for my sister’s Bday. When we wanted dessert, our waiter said they don’t serve dessert during brunch, but they had a special Mother’s Day cake. None of us were mother’s, but he gave us dessert anyway, which I thought was very nice of him. Service was amazing. Will be back to try their other food options.
Great vegan food and attentive service. Cozy restaurant.
I have been a strict vegan for one year and I avoid SOY like the plague. Almost everything on their brunch menu had tofu or soy based ingredients. Both my husband I ordered the vegan burger which I assumed was made out of beans or etc. We both felt very sick 30 minutes into brunch and asked our waitress what it was made with. She told us it was Seitan which I know is not soy based but I feel the ingredients should have been listed on the menu. I have been Gluten Free for 20 years and it made me incredible ill, I also also eat plant based burgers or sandwhiches without the bun which I obviously did here. I was extremely bummed bc it ruined my mothers day by being ill!
We went to Modern Love for brunch, and it was fantastic! I had the 'shrooms and grits and my husband had the seitan and waffles - so delicious! Our server was excellent, and attentive and the whole restaurant was just buzzing with positive energy. Also, the bathrooms had super cute pictures of animals which just made me extra happy. 110% would come here again, and next time when they have the full menu!
