"Seafood in Denver..." Right? This is what I was always saying when we were looking for places to eat while staying downtown over the weekend for a wedding. Being from San Diego, my wife and I are big sushi fans. After a brief search, we found Mizu and quickly made reservations. Turns out, we were not going to be even remotely disappointed. Nestled under new construction apartment complexes in LoHi, Mizu presents an unassuming, somewhat worn facade (probably as it was very cool, and none of the patio seats were occupied), opening up to a cozy, Japanese-styled bar when you walk in. Greeted immediately, we were courteously and quickly shown to our table. Our server was supremely attentive, friendly, and polite, guiding us thru the extensive menu effortlessly. Ordered, and was provided a nice 300ml bottle of sake (server's recommendation). Food came in quickly, and was most impressive. The first to arrive - a "lolipop" appetizer was a cucumber wrapped roll, then seaweed salad, and assortment of specially ordered nigiri sushi and sashimi. (King Salmon was almost decadent) Matching the sushi (especially the salmon!) was the 3oz order of Wagyu A5 that you self-cooked on a hot stone. I wouldn't be exaggerating if I said it was a transcending experience. My wife, who doesn't particularly care for steak (even the tenderloin cuts I routinely order out), insisted on tasting nearly every sliver of meat cooked. Dessert was pleasant, but unfortunately paled in comparison to the King Salmon nigiri and Wagyu. Though at most times relatively quiet, the birthdays with mini-roman candles and a serving of the flaming "volcano" meat dish at an adjacent table broke the modestly serene ambiance in a welcome way. We were just visiting Denver for a short while, and though we're now looking for Wagyu locally here in SD - we will definitely be back at Mizu should we wander back over the Rockies in the future.

Sushi here is excellent. We really enjoy their seasonal specials as well. Lots of seating options make this one of our favorite places to go- you’ve got the bar;l, high tops, the sushi bar, regular seating tables, and a few private tables. The cocktails are amazing too!

Went on a date night. Sushi is great. Got the volcano scallop with was tasty and great with lobster. The cucumber roll is refreshing The mizu roll, sea monster roll and hotate roll are great. Also got the A5 waygu beef. It was awesome. The Resihi Martini is refreshing

The server I had was terribly rude ( woman with tattoo on neck) . It seems every time I eat at this restaurant (2-3x per month) and I have her as a server she treats us in the same manner.

The rolls were great but the nigiri was absolutely horrible. My otoro bit back and was so chewy instead of soft and buttery. My A5 wagyu nigiri and eel were served cold. The amberjack was chewy as well. I ended up returning all the nigiri and they wouldn’t even take off the otoro I spit out into a napkin off my bill because I “ate” it. Horrible customer service by the manager. I will never return here or recommend it. Go to UCHI, sushi sasa, Matsuhisa, Foraged, sushi Ronin or anywhere else besides Mizu.STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE, it’s is NOT QUALITY!

Went there for a GNO—early dinner. Was great experience and was able to get drinks faster when we first arrived at 5pm… but the bar area quickly got slammed closer to 7pm and then took really long to receive our next round of drinks with our meal. Overall great experience and tasty noodle dishes and sushi!

Absolutely love Mizu. Every thing was fantastic per usual, we did the Kobe beef bahn mi, was stellar. super thinly shaved beef tons of flavor perfect bread. Had the crispy rice spicy tuna which were unbelievably tastey, udon noodles per usual thick and soft perfect sauce and then we finished with the lava cake with vanilla ice cream and just like the rest, it was great.

We came to mizu for my birthday celebration and it was my first time there. The atmosphere is amazing, the food is delicious, the sushi is so fresh and the drinks were good. I do want to give a shout out to the Asian female waitress. She was amazing and deserves a raise. She provided excellent service.

The food was delicious but the restaurant was extremely loud for a weeknight out. The server was super sweet but not very attentive. I still love this place but the vibe was loud electronic music and people yelling at their tables. It was simply nit the mood we were going for.
