   We had never been to MCK before and we went for our twentieth anniversary. Our server, Will was wonderful as was the curry cauliflower soup. Beyond that the meal was not worth the hype. Let me say first, we don’t frequent big chop houses or chain restaurants. Instead we prefer to cook from scratch at home a LOT which is to say we know what goes into the preparation of good quality, flavorful food. We began with appetizers: the curried cauliflower soup, which was outstanding (but room temperature) and the pork and shrimp dumplings which were presented nicely but didn’t have a lot of flavor. For dinner, I had the $46 poached filet which was tender but flavorless despite the description of all that went into the marinade. We’ve cooked more flavorful filets at home in our own sous vide. That said, the wine that was paired with it was delicious. My husband’s seared rockfish, while the better of the two entrees, was still not as flavorful as we’d have expected from such a fine dining establishment. Because we really wanted to like the place, we decided to give the desserts a try - still a bust. The chocolate ganache and the caramel pot de crème (custard-like) were both rich but bland. Perhaps it was an off night for the restaurant which has clearly been recognized as one of the best in the area. While I’m disappointed I couldn’t write a more positive review, spending nearly $200 on dinner compelled me to share with potential diners - buyers beware!

   We started by ordering a cocktail and the charcuterie platter. Our waitress informed us that the chef wanted appetizers and entrees ordered simultaneously. We tried to help our waitress understand that we would be enjoying our visit, drinks, and appetizer for quite a while. The martini arrived in a small champagne glass, and the salad arrived with the charcuterie. Asked the surprised waiter to take the salad back to the fridge until we were ready . The charcuterie was lovely, but upon finishing we needed to help our overly attentive waitress to remove the tray to make room for the dinner plates. Salmon entree was fair at best. Would not return to this restaurant. They need to get their act together.

   I went there by myself to celebrate my birthday. As.luck would have it, as I was shown to my table.for one, with a happy birthday sign, right across were two friends, who invited me to join them. What a.delightful celebration I had.

   First time at Midlothian Chef's Kitchen, but not our last. Busy Saturday evening and the place was jumping. Noise level was a bit high and service was a bit delayed. However, food was delightful: delicious and well-plated. The service team did their best to be congenial, attentive, knowledgeable. It was apparent they had been well-trained. Overall, a very positive experience.

   Good experience but disappointed in 2 dishes. Dijon crusted salmon had no crust and seemed to be poached and slightly undercooked. Almond cake with blood orange sorbet was bitter and the 2 flavors did not go together. The schnitzel was divine! We will return and try other dishes

    We are happy with every aspect of our dinner. We split a salad which was ample even split between 2 people, and it was delicious. We each ordered the rockfish with lobster cream and it was very tasty, and I had to take half of it home. The bread with honey butter was fantastic. My husband had a dessert (chocolate ganache with coffee ice cream, and he was very happy with it. The décor is very nice inside. They have a very nice looking patio outside, but it was too cold for us. We ate at 7:30 and it was not noisy at all, though almost all the tables were full. We will definitely be back.

    Keri, our server, was absolutely amazing. The entire menu sounded so good and I wish we could have tried everything. From wait time, to plating, and most importantly taste, everything exceeded expectations. The portion sizes were SPOT on. I ate everything, which is somewhat uncommon because I don’t eat much, and I did not feel overly full. My husband and I both got an appetizer, entree, and dessert each. Hands down, the best restaurant I’ve EVER dined in at.

    The preparation and quality of the food delivered, as well as the quality of the service we were afforded, were all excellent. The only counterpoint to the view of the food is the value or price being on the high end, especially, in the context of the portion sizes of the fish served wiith rockfish and salmon entrees.

    Had a great dining experience at Midlothian Chef Kitchen- husband loved his filet mignon- said it was the best he has ever had. I enjoyed the rockfish as well. We ordered the chocolate ganache dessert which was on the small side but very good. All in all a great dining experience and we will go back!

    We loved the food, the atmosphere, the location and the service. I had Dijon-crusted salmon, husband had filet mignon and a steak tartare appetizer, and the food was fantastic. Couldn’t be happier. Service was excellent. Very relaxing experience. Our new favorite restaurant—so glad it’s in Chesterfield County. Easy to make reservations online and plenty of parking. Can’t wait to go back.

    Brunch…had the fried chicken over waffles. Waffle was extremely dry and crunchy…not my preference. Chicken was okay but breading outweighed chicken meat. Waitress was excellent and atmosphere was nice.

    Very nice meal for four. Every entry was excellent. The only thing I would suggest is the appetizer’s be served in groups of four items versus three’s. Both of our ordered appetizers were in 3 items. This was our second visit and we will be back. Very enjoyable evening and the waitress remembered it was my wife’s birthday.

    I don’t have a negative thing to say about our meal and experience at Midlothian’s chef kitchen. Our server knew the menu and could provide recommendations, the wine pairings with entrees was especially helpful and the atmosphere was upscale without being stuffy. We can’t wait to go back!

    Our waitress was outstanding. Ms Kristin Dale could not have been better. The Bourbon list was top notch. The food was very good but the plates were a bit small. If you’re hungry, make sure you order appetizers. A must visit at least once.

    Overall it was a lovely experience ! Wonderful service, good drinks and savory starters ! However, I was disappointed with the entree of salmon! Salmon too dry, surrounded by 5 pitiful mussels and no clams to be found ! For the value, this was not worth it !

    Not the spot for brunch. Very underwhelming. Food came out cold, mimosas garnished with old fruit. Whipped feta was far from whipped had to use a knife to break off chunks. Sampler platter was cold. Biscuits were delicious. The stuff that was made to order seemed good 25%, other stuff seemed to be made ahead and been setting awhile 75%. French toast tasted like it was sitting in a vat of stale oil:( typically don’t do reviews but I was so excited to try this spot and it was pretty bad:( and expensive

    Second time in a row I was a little underwhelmed by this experience. The food is always outstanding but don’t go in there thinking you are gonna get in and out. Both times took an hour to get food. First time was a big party there which is mind boggling that in 2023 restaurants still don’t know how to handle big parties without smaller ones suffering. Second time we were just told sorry dinner service usually takes 1.5-2hrs. Uh ok? Our table was in the middle of the floor so every time a server walked by they bumped my chair while I was eating/drinking. Poor placement of table. Will I come back. Yes but not for awhile.

    Had the pre-fixe Valentine’s menu. The steak tartare was absolutely incredible. The smoked capers brought the dish to a new level. I ordered the butter poached filet and was surprised that they accompanied it with a steak knife. A butter knife or no knife was more appropriate, it is was so tender. I usually go for chocolate, but the almond cake with orange sorbet was calling my name. The first bite was all ginger which was a nice surprise. The sorbet was smooth and refreshing. The service was wonderful as always. I had a special accommodation request the hostesses did a great job choosing a table that fit my needs.
