    This afternoon I brought my partner to Matchbox to celebrate her birthday because we both enjoy Matchbox. I had made a reservation so when we got there everything was ready to go. Also my partner's family join us today to celebrate this special day. The 7 of us had a great time and fun afternoon plus the food was delicious. My partner was so happy and excited. Also, her family had never been to Matchbox before and they enjoyed themselves and the food as well. Her family said that they will be back. Also, our waitress Rachel was awesome. She was very attentive, engaging and social. She did an excellent job serving us today on this special day. Overall it was a super duper and satisfying Saturday afternoon at Matchbox. We will be back again soon.

    We sat outside on the patio on a Friday night. My daughter ordered a burger medium, and I ordered the seared tuna salad which was supposed to be rare. The burger came out very rare and the tuna was so overcooked I could barely cut it. But after she brought us our food she literally never came back to our table so I couldn’t even request them to fix the food. We finally had to go inside and walk up to the bar to pay and leave. She came over and said “thanks for coming in, we’re short staffed” but no actual apology tor ignoring us. I was charged $75 for the food plus a glass of wine, which seemed ridiculously high even if the food had been edible. It was truly one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve ever had.

    All 3 of us enjoyed our food greatly: crab cake sandwich, chicken, and pizza. They substitute asides when fries are not wanted, such as salad, tho one of us loved the fries that came with the chicken.

    Matchbox used to be one of our favorite date night spots but has since gotten progressively worse over the last year. I never leave reviews but I feel like I need to say something. Yesterday we went there with a reservation (though not needed because there were 1 table occupied) but nevertheless we came in. We decided to sit at the bar. There were 8 workers in the restaurant who we could see, a few standing against the wall on their phones. Others talking. We waited about 5 minutes and were given waters and told someone would be with us soon. We waited another 5 minutes and still no one had taken our drink orders or greeted us as our server. We then asked the host if we could move to a table in hopes maybe being in a servers section would be better than being served at the bar. Mind you - only 5-6 people were at the bar sitting and drinking. We moved to a table, sitting watching workers ignore us. We waited another 5 minutes and then got up and left. We will not be returning to matchbox and it's a real shame. The time before this one I had met some friends and the service was poor then as well, but this time was the absolute worst.

    We were greeted with a friendly smile taken to a small table for two. Our server was very polite and offered suggestions. They were thoughtful enough to bring a candle and sing happy birthday with our dessert.

    I really don't like to leave less than positive reviews, but we were so disappointed with our dinner and service, we won't be going back. It started when we were seated by a woman who looked and acted like she hated her job and hated us for coming. The whole dinner was a mess. The wait staff didn't know about the food, couldn't remember even simple things (like we wanted 4 wine glasses, not 2 and that my husband ordered a drink from the bar) and told my husband he could order off the restaurant week menu when he couldn't (they ran out of salmon and she said she could substitute a different salmon from the menu - not). The one positive note is that the pizza is good. So if you are going for pizza and beer (oh, all the draft beer was unavailable), then maybe. Otherwise perhaps try somewhere else.
